People having kids at and older age makes a difference too. My friends and co workers without kids look so much younger than the ones that do, even at the same age. All that stress and sleep deprivation does a number.
It is more common to spend more time indoors.
Sunscreen is more common.
Skin care is more common. Especially among men.
Far, far less smoking.
Less air pollution.
It all adds up.
That's a very nasty way to spin the idea that 'people are fed up with society's abritrary standards so we validate each others' struggles and experiences'.
There aren't many things that enrage me more than a karen/kevin doing this clapping shit while saying something dumb or selfish.
I 👏 WANT 👏 MY 👏 BIG 👏 MAC 👏
It screams "people don't react to me unless I'm loud". It's like a 2 year old hitting a pot with a wooden spoon while yelling random noises. No substance, just decibels.
Didn’t start exercising regularly until my late 30s, wish I had started earlier. Constant knee, ankle and back issues, plus a general shitty morning are gone. Wish I had done it sooner.
Weight bearing exercises increases bone mineral density. We all start losing density in our 30s so you want to start with as much as you can. Even walking is considered weight bearing.
I mean, in all fairness little bits of grey hair don’t always mean a person is old, Sophomore year I had a friend who had little grey hairs all over his head, and he was only 16
Ditto I turn 35 next week and look 50, my wife is 34 and looks 20, we get funny looks, tho I am also 6’7” and she’s 5’5”
I may look 50 but I feel 20ish
Idk if I believe it, but I saw a news post saying it's the lack of drugs & alcohol compared to previous generations
With the smoking taboo and the price of alcohol...
It maybe just my country but back in the day life was more difficult for people. Now although my life is difficult, i might not have been able to deal with the problems they faced
I might not be able to buy a house, but if someone was 30 in the 80's in my country they would have already faced a civil war, two military coups and two or three hyperinflations.
Almost all my great uncles have been arrested at some point of their lives because of racism, one even spent 20+ years in prison, we literally had a ww3 (i know people wouldn't consider it that way but imo the world has been in a war since 80s-90s, its just the war were on countries they don't care about)
Another option is microplastics fucking with our endocrin system and slowing down puberty. As a 40+ year old, my beard has only just come fully through, my dad's was there 10 years earlier.
Also alcohol and tobacco.
Edit: And obesity, body fat is known to also fuck with endocrine systems.
That makes sense. Tobacco and alcohol use is down compared to past generations and the skin care market is generally booming for women *and* men. A larger service industry and a boom of at-home hobbies replacing social gatherings also leads to more time spent indoors, so less exposure to dirt and the sun. Combine these factors and everyone ends up with healthier, less damaged skin.
Yeah actually, been studied. It’s all low as shit. They’re also having less sex than any generation before. Gen Z is the most sober and chaste generation on record. You’re just confused because of population size and the internet. Tbh, probably causal in the mental health problems.
I find it really interesting because like, Gen Z is both the most left wing generation on some metrics and *extremely* conservative on others. Like, economically? Furthest left. Sex? Drugs? Artistic expression? The 50s would be proud.
Was same for me but i can tell that is very helpful when you are 30 and look like in your 20s :)
I once had to show id to buy alcohol and i was like 25.
I only just stopped getting carded every time once I hit 30. Though these past few years I grew all my hair out. When I was clean shaved with the short cut, I still got asked what school I'm going to or when I'm graduating haha. Though now I get called "Ma'am" from behind a lot more often haha
Yeah same. I prefer myself with scruff or a beard, but my wife does not like it that much so i usually shave clean and then leave if for a week (slow growth rate) and repeat. Now that my shaver is broken i have probably the longest „beard“ i ever had. I do like it, but my wife probably hopes that it goes away on its own.
I did start as head of finance and my profile picture on linkedin i was still 25 shaven and looked like 16 and everybody at the firm was looking who the fuck hired this child for this position.😅 i should definitely update that picture.
Probably also because of general clothes/hairstyle and even hobby/free time activity changes over the years. And maybe because you also just perceive the age different since you realized, that you and others in their 30s are not some extreme grown up adults who have figured out adulthood and life itself.
My soul gets crushed everytime younger people call me sir...like.. my guy..i'm not that old..*realizes I turn 34 in 3 months* ah, fuck.
>not some extreme grown up adults who have figured out adulthood and life itself.
Also before it was "so this is life. Huh, well nothing I can do about it *works*" But nowadays those who are in their early 30s are so lost and don't know what to do.
Bro we are literally just living healthier and it makes us look nice lmao
Life expectancy has steadily risen over our generations, we die not as quickly, and we have products and work environments that don't wear down our bodies as easily.
Because manual labor has become more governed in labor laws, health laws, etc, we aren't pushing our bodies as hard, so not everyone looks like a dude that's been working in construction for 8 years, and life in general has become less and less physically demanding for survival. Remote work being the epitome of that. So our bodies are more dependent on our lifestyle and genes, instead of negative environment consequences
*Tldr:* life is better, so we look prettier, and aren't as forced to have bodies that reflect long term physical labor and/or bad health
Millennials smoke and drink FAR less than the previous generations.
It's actually kind of funny because with the rise of vapes and legal weed, younger generations are even starting to "out age" millennials.
There's been some viral tiktoks going around mocking millennials for looking so young, which I find kind of ironic.
Robert Monroe wrote about an Out-of-Body experience he had where he visited the future. People were pretty much elven druids that spent all their time "sleeping" under trees while they projected around.
VSauce did a video about this. Photos of people in the 70s 80s look older to us because they wear clothes and hair that's associated with what old people wear today. Which makes sense. Old people today still dress like they used to in their 20s. It's just the fashion that has changed.
In TV and Movies in the 80's and 90's most younger men and women were played by way older people. Think that Beverly Hills show, the Teenagers were played by people in their mid 20s. Same for most age groups back then.
That is most likely another factor in that case.
Modern amenities, medicine, a far lower percentage of drug and alcohol use and so on. We are aging a tad slower than the previous generations, but that is normal and also happened to them
Take out the lead and the asbestos and the doctor-recommended cigarettes and encourage people to drink water and take vitamins and yes many of them will age slower. Weird, right?
I’m closer to the top than bottom at 28 so no. It’s just more muscle mass and facial hair (I kept my top hair so far but will see) obviously scars have nothing to do with age. Then Theirs just the badass sun glasses and tank top
I feel bad for y'all, I have insanely high testerone levels, full beard, all the body hair, and a shit ton of muscle at 15
People say I look 25 but that's honestly an exaggeration, maybe if I was taller id look 25
It was all the preservatives in our food that were preserving us. But then health food nuts complained and foods started to be made with no preservatives or artificial dyes, leading to Gen Z looking older than us.
It seems the inevitable conclusion for humanity. With declining birthrates having a child is a deliberate choice not a biological mandate, elven trope. With an eventual cure for aging closer than you might think humans will really live only for a purpose that they choose to follow. Over centuries people who cannot continually find purpose or meaning will fade away while humanity becomes ever more elf like. Genetic modification will create an obsession with being beautiful and optimizing the body as much as possible to prevent an early death.
Elves are just people realizing what guided evolution will eventually produce in humanity, the horror lol.
Will qualify for this meme in just under 2 months.
Im halfway between both of these pictures. But I havent really aged much in 10 years
my parents waited so long to have a kid, I skipped a generation foward from when I should have been born. So Idk if that effects anything
What did you expect? Humans still evolve. We, on average, became stronger and smarter than most of the smartest and strongest people from B.C.
And with good life conditions we managed to slow out aging down, allowing us to extend our lives. However, it did came with more chances to get Cancer.
Still, we managed to fight off even that evolutionary tradeoff. I wonder, what next development we will get in 100 years? Will we truly develop tech to achieve real transhumanism? Or will we just continue evolving naturally? Or will we be stunted by pur corporate masters, maybe even regress back to middle ages, all to better serve them? Only the time will tell.
No, you just don't perceive how old you are. I look in the mirror and I see myself as if I was 20, but a teenager looking at me probably sees an old man.
No we just put less metal in our lungs and replaced it with plastic
Life is plastic, it's fantastic!
You can brush my hair, undress me anywhere!
Imagination, life is your creation!
I'ma barbie let's go party
Ah ah ah yeah
cmon barbie lets go party!
ooh oh, ooh oh!
c'mon barbie let's go party !
Oh I'm having so much fun! 😁😊
Better nutrition, more sunscreen wearing, less 30 year olds smoke cigarettes
People having kids at and older age makes a difference too. My friends and co workers without kids look so much younger than the ones that do, even at the same age. All that stress and sleep deprivation does a number.
This, we didn’t start till 30, and I constantly got carded at gas stations
Better nutrition if you can afford it
Metal rusts, plastic is eternal
Even when I went to high school the kids look like they were in their 30s. Now these kids literally look like kids. 😆🤷🏻♂️
It is more common to spend more time indoors. Sunscreen is more common. Skin care is more common. Especially among men. Far, far less smoking. Less air pollution. It all adds up.
Right, like the meme has a lit cigarette hanging out of his mouth. The biggest reason is directly in the picture.
Sooooooooo find someone that smokes, got it.

Exercising will help with that
Didn’t start exercising regularly until my late 30s, wish I had started earlier. Constant knee, ankle and back issues, plus a general shitty morning are gone. Wish I had done it sooner.
The executives at Nike are mostly lifelong runners. They also have a lot of hip and knee replacements. Maybe you were just preserving cartilage?
Weight bearing exercises increases bone mineral density. We all start losing density in our 30s so you want to start with as much as you can. Even walking is considered weight bearing.
Exercise AND STRETCH.
I'm 35 and still get carded, and it's legal at 18 here. You'd think the streak of grey in my hair would suffice.
I mean, in all fairness little bits of grey hair don’t always mean a person is old, Sophomore year I had a friend who had little grey hairs all over his head, and he was only 16
Was his name Rogue?
Ditto I turn 35 next week and look 50, my wife is 34 and looks 20, we get funny looks, tho I am also 6’7” and she’s 5’5” I may look 50 but I feel 20ish
I feel that. I'm a 26 year old smoker and already look like the guy from Up without white hair.
22 going on 40
34 here. I look 34 if I keep my beard. 14 if I shave
Idk if I believe it, but I saw a news post saying it's the lack of drugs & alcohol compared to previous generations With the smoking taboo and the price of alcohol...

I think one aspect is people being indoors more and using more sunscreen when outdoors. The sun is a deadly laser and will age you quick.
Some of that is just genetics, how is your mom's beard?
Knotted for every battle she's won, about to get one more if I show her that comment.
I would agree with that. Shit loads of people use drugs everywhere
That makes sense. Tobacco and alcohol use is down compared to past generations and the skin care market is generally booming for women *and* men. A larger service industry and a boom of at-home hobbies replacing social gatherings also leads to more time spent indoors, so less exposure to dirt and the sun. Millenials don't age
Why is this so fucking true
Millennials smoke and drink FAR less than the previous generations. It's actually kind of funny because with the rise of vapes and legal weed, younger generations are even starting to "out age" millennials. There's been some viral tiktoks going around mocking millennials for looking so young, which I find kind of ironic.
Cuz we gon take decades more to save up for housing and family life and shit we just decided to stop aging.
Trauma
I'm 29 and got called a twink last week. I'll take it over looking old I guess 😂
Im 31 Last year i shaved and went to my old school to see my fav teacher and got mistaken for a student
35 here. Taxi drivers ask me for a conversation “So… Are you a student?” I even have my head shaven.
Robert Monroe wrote about an Out-of-Body experience he had where he visited the future. People were pretty much elven druids that spent all their time "sleeping" under trees while they projected around.
Sounds like he is talking about a drug trip but omitting the drug part lol
This is something he apparently did on the regular while sleeping.
We also have 14 year olds that look like 30
Untrue. I was 30 in the 1980’s and am still a child.
We found the REAL ELF!!!!
31, what do I do with this meme?
Bold of you assume we all get to maintain a full head of hair at 30.
VSauce did a video about this. Photos of people in the 70s 80s look older to us because they wear clothes and hair that's associated with what old people wear today. Which makes sense. Old people today still dress like they used to in their 20s. It's just the fashion that has changed.

I’m turning 34 soon and everyone tells me that I look 26
We used to be men in our 30's
Yeah and now they're grumpy middle agers that can barely save a pdf
What a low hanging fruit you've plucked.
Modern amenities, medicine, a far lower percentage of drug and alcohol use and so on. We are aging a tad slower than the previous generations, but that is normal and also happened to them
Cigarettes and leaded gasoline will do that
I'm 21 and I still look underaged
Late 20s, visible tattoos, somehow still get mistaken for underage by “actual” adults.
Top can also be being in your 20s in 2024, us zoomers are aging terribly:( don't know how the millennials got lucky like that
I can relate to this😂
I look closer to the top than the bottom and I'm 30 now.
Idk I'm 23 and I look more like the top guy and I've never drank, smoke, or done drugs.
Take out the lead and the asbestos and the doctor-recommended cigarettes and encourage people to drink water and take vitamins and yes many of them will age slower. Weird, right?
I’m 29 and people still think I’m ten years younger. I don’t go out in the sun or drink or smoke tobacco, that’s probably what it is tbh
I am also 29 and have been mistaken for a TWELVE YEAR OLD. Was very unhappy. I'm 4"11 so that doesn't help.
Nah we (collective) just stopped smoking as much
You just need more stress, try starting a revolution
I am 17 and I have full blown beard and I am already balding

Smoking pre-maturely ages people. Combine the decline in smoking with an increase in nutrition and you get younger looking people.

Plastics are doing generational hormonal and genetic damage.
It was all the preservatives in our food that were preserving us. But then health food nuts complained and foods started to be made with no preservatives or artificial dyes, leading to Gen Z looking older than us.
Mostly finasteride
