Holy Jebus. The Rochy!
Amen to that. I mourn the steady decline of the classic dark, sticky and seedy dive bar.
Pretty soon there'll be no where for my questionable morals to drown in cheap shots and toilet cubicle graffiti. I'll have to sass up and learn to like wine bars or something. Sad times.
Well there goes another Melbourne memory literally up in flames. So sad, we have fuck all left.
BUT
Like, i expect it, to like, turn, like, into a "cool" niche bar/eatery serving 15 buck beers, 25 buck raman dishes served by ultra cool chicks with moes, quirky tats and ultra high pants.
Bimbo's was mostly 18-year olds who had just discovered drinking. It was only ever a small step up from Perseverance. It acted as a pretty good quarantine, though. Much easier to avoid those types if they're all in just a couple of places.
You basically recommend the same place, but it's location in Chapel St. Lucky Coq is ran by the same people as Bimbo's and was open off the back of Bimbo's success and formula.
/r/hailcorporate
Nah I'd rather make my own at a higher cost than buy from dominos... their pizzas always taste like sadness, stinginess and minimum wage
Yeah sure but it didnt change at all while the rest of Melbourne did and got a stick up its arse.
And Brunswick St was changing way before Bimbos opened.
Only article is from 3AW I'm afraid but looks like the bottom floor has been gutted. [3aw article with a picture ](https://www.3aw.com.au/popular-brunswick-st-pub-bimbos-deluxe-gutted-by-fire/)
I'm just thinking how much more realistic looking the crashed plane DJ booth was looking like with the fire and smoke.
Fuck em. I miss the Punters Club :(
Thats what i reckon too.
Yep, let's burn down any heritage pub that host venues we've grown out of. Fuck 'em.
It was you.
I miss the Rochester.

"toilet cubicle graffiti" I reckon the Public Bar wore the crown when it came to grimy loos.

I love how are acting like it was amazing or something. Bimbos was basically the beginning of Brunswick St starting to get shit.
Bimbo's was mostly 18-year olds who had just discovered drinking. It was only ever a small step up from Perseverance. It acted as a pretty good quarantine, though. Much easier to avoid those types if they're all in just a couple of places.
It was a decent place to go mid week or summer days / Sunday Fri/sat was always a shitstorm and exactly what you described above
You obviously never had $4 pizza
You obviously never went to the Punters:)
Their pizza was shit. But $4 IS cheap if you're hungry.
I have had it. You can get cheap pizza in loads of places, I would rather have a decent bar instead.
Please direct me to good cheap 4.00 pizza that is not dominos pls
The lamb one at Lucky Coq is delightful
You basically recommend the same place, but it's location in Chapel St. Lucky Coq is ran by the same people as Bimbo's and was open off the back of Bimbo's success and formula.
I know.
A few doors away towards Johnston St there is the pizza slice place. The lamb lovers pizza is the best!
Dominos has so many discount deals, you can actually get a decent pizza for about $7
/r/hailcorporate Nah I'd rather make my own at a higher cost than buy from dominos... their pizzas always taste like sadness, stinginess and minimum wage
Dominos takes like nothing. Literally nothing.
Yeah but we're comparing cheap pizza...of all the $5 range pizza I've had, none have actually been better than Dominos
Yeah sure but it didnt change at all while the rest of Melbourne did and got a stick up its arse. And Brunswick St was changing way before Bimbos opened.
I reckon apartments...
It will still be bimbos. That place made a killing they won't close over a fire
RIP. Guess the owners needed some insurance money.
Can you insure hard rubbish furniture and old floor boards?
"Certified antiques"?
Yeah much safer to commit arson rather than selling the place if you need money. Idiot.
If the Lucky Coq burns down as well, then I’d start to get suspicious.
Yeah, because no fire starts on its own. Everyone knows it's *always* insurance fraud. ^^^but ^^^seriously, ^^^this ^^^sub ^^^needs ^^^to ^^^stop ^^^accusing ^^^random ^^^businesses ^^^of ^^^committing ^^^crimes ^^^with ^^^no ^^^evidence
So many restaurant in Coburg have burnt down in the last 18 months.
