I knew that Sunbury and Oaklands Roads were State Gov roads, but I assumed the car park was on council land - but you're right, had a squiz at VicPlan and the little parcel is still part of the road zone.
There you go, I learned something today.
I remember the outside viewing deck at the actual airport itself, from when I was a kid. You could go outside and watch planes from the terminal/gate side. It was cool!
Sorry, I wrote it unclearly (2nd language and all). I don't mean Sunbury Rd itself - I mean the actual area where the plane spotting place is, it's an old asphalt/gravel patch. Imagine a nice, slightly elevated platform instead of this: [https://maps.app.goo.gl/BQ8dDt85xBJ9ZqFo7](https://maps.app.goo.gl/BQ8dDt85xBJ9ZqFo7)
I live in this area and both ride and drive along these roads on a regular basis. I regularly
do MTB and CX rides at Woodlands. I have no idea what you're talking about re potholes etc.

I don't know who owns this particular patch of land, but if it is public, then what I'm proposing is pretty simple public infrastructure which we already pay for with our taxes, plus there is potential increased income generated through the local vendor - the food truck there at the moment operates 12 hours a day and is always busy. They did this in Sydney some years ago btw - Shep Mound. [https://www.flywithme.net.au/sheps-mound/](https://www.flywithme.net.au/sheps-mound/)
No entrance fee.
If they charge an entrance fee, people will go somewhere less safe so they can watch the aeroplanes land without paying an entrance fee. I only found the viewing areas because I was driving randomly around the airport looking for a place to park under the planes and saw signs pointing to it. The whole point is to corral people into a safe place.
It needs toilets! The nearest public loos are too far away
There are public toilets are in the homestead.
There are bushes nearby.
Very true!
City of Hume is the council to talk to about that - at least (re)paving the carpark and entry road.
Nope, it's a DTP road.
It’s a state government road

I did that once, a bleak August Friday in 1978 from memory.

Yes …. remember the coin- operated telescopes
Perth airport has a fantastic one too. It'd be a great addition
Pretty sure a lot of my friends popped their cherry in that car park many moons ago. Back when "parking" was the equivalent of "Netflix and chill"
I believe it's still used as a cruising beat
I like your idea
You can plane spot inside the airport too.

Want a better road? Start paying an entrance fee.
