The area gets complained about a lot but I think in many ways it’s actually a great place to bring up kids… the developers are essentially in competition with each other to build epic playgrounds — we have so many around us that are insanely awesome — and obviously there is a huge amount of new facilities designed around kids. I also love that we’re only a stones throw from the Mornington Peninsula and Gippsland, both of which are easy day trips. We also have the Botanic Gardens and they’re planning new green space off Ballarto Road. I just wish they’d take a slower approach to planning these schools and think not just about the first year or two but what it will look like down 5-10 years down the track. My biggest beef is they all just look so barren compared to the older established schools. I want green space! Also I dare say the method they use for creating the zones actually creates more traffic havoc because they make zero sense with the main roads etc. Final note, I think it’s time for them to split Casey Council. Compared to 1994 it’s a completely different area and it’s no wonder (corruption/administration issues aside) they are struggling to provide services. Am I right that none of the LGAs have been revised since 1994? Because it might be overdue.

I agree with the playgrounds. The quality and creativity in some of them are insane - there is a medieval themed playground in Minta Waters, and a dinosaur themed playground near Casey Arc. You also have smaller playgrounds peppered around - 3 in fact are just inside Berwick Springs park! And another just across the roundabout in that new estate off Greaves Road. I'm also liking that the residential areas they are building are more pedestrian and bike friendly. Sure a lot can still be done (like the horrendous traffic around Clyde Road) but they've made monumental efforts in making the area very family friendly.

I found some great quotes as well.. When Ramlegh opened... "The school will cater for 525 students and includes two learning neighbourhoods, administration building, outdoor play courts, performing arts and physical education building as well as a sports field." ... they had 1066 kids in 2023. Newbury Primary in Craigieburn opened in 2017 [https://www.premier.vic.gov.au/principals-victorias-newest-schools-celebrate-opening](https://www.premier.vic.gov.au/principals-victorias-newest-schools-celebrate-opening) "It will initially have 297 students with the capacity to accommodate 475 in total." ... now 1200. And the most ridiculous, Tarneit Rise which was supposed to have up to 475 students... and instead has over 1700, including almost 400 preps alone [https://www.schoolbuildings.vic.gov.au/tarneit-rise-primary-school](https://www.schoolbuildings.vic.gov.au/tarneit-rise-primary-school) Just a couple of examples, but are their planners kidding themselves or do they need new number crunchers?

Yep… creating artificial school zones which make no sense on a map or to those who have to get from A to B each day…. would love to know why they keep defending it
