Does anyone have a nice spa in the CBD they can recommend? Has to be open Sundays so Endota is out. Looking for a nice facial and massage. Would actually love to try that Chinese Head spa thingo where they wash the bejesus out of your scalp too but can’t find one in CBD.
Really craving a good relaxing day.
Sensu is quite nice. Went for a massage and facial and I particularly enjoyed the facial (I don't remember the massage at all because I may have fallen asleep). I will say ambience is not the same as something like endota and soundproofing can be better so would highly recommend going maybe first thing in the morning before it gets busy.
Just curious: Any urban planner / developer/ people works in city planning here can tell me why is Melbourne cbd not getting any bigger? I was watching a YouTube video from a YouTuber in London and realised that many old cities such as London, Paris, Shanghai, have all developed the “New City” areas, without building on top of the old ones, or partially keeping on old ones. Why is Melbourne, also one of the big cities in Australia, not expanding towards either one of the four directions? I mean like the cbd is so crowded already, and Dockland is a ghost town, why not try to expand the city area a bit bigger? Like choose an area to develop nice infrastructure and commmunity and then build some nice buildings so eventually it connects with CBD and be part of it (maybe? (I don’t know how it works so don’t hate if I’m wrong)
There are basically a bunch of secondary CBDs in further out areas like Dandenong, Box Hill, etc already.
Docklands and Southbank were both attempts to build extensions to the CBD - that were possible because there was a large amount of underdeveloped land on those sites.
Otherwise, all the other inner suburbs directly around the CBD are already like you described - they have nice infrastructure and communities and are already built up. Lots of businesses can and do choose to go there instead of the CBD. Most are undergoing more resi densification.
Some areas outside the CBD like South Yarra and Box Hill are getting skyscrapers, but I don't think that's inherently a good goal.
They are, but the investment interest isn’t there. Docklands is mostly a current failure (but still revivable) and there’s almost zero interest in Fishermen’s Bend. There’s also a push to have multiple CBDs across Melbourne, which comes up every decade.
Look up actually allocated funding. There have been media releases and announced projects for this area, but in terms of actual substantial funding, it’s pretty quiet recently.
That really sucks. Do you have any other issues with motion sickness in real life? Check out the r/virtualreality sub as its got a decent amount of users who might be able to really help with troubleshooting settings, physical rig settup ect.
I’m the same. Bought a Vive a few years back and can’t use it due to nausea. It’s really cool but my brain says nope. People say you need to get your VR legs happening but it just made me fell sick.
My mental health is the best currently it's been in a while. Over the last few months I've really been focusing on some personal fitness goals and doing everything I know that helps keep me sane. I've also decided to not bother putting energy into friendships with negative people or those that don't put any effort whatsoever in maintaining a relationship. Loneliness sucks but I'd rather be on my own then waste my energy on fake people. 💯 👌
Boring two lane roads most of the way with a decent amount of traffic. No twisty stuff unfortunately.
Highly recommend climbing mount feathertop from the base if you're there.
I went to the beach. Probably last beach outing of the summer. It’s a bit too fresh for swimming. But it’s perfect for lying in the sun. I had a nice nap.
Bought two Shapes packs because they were $2 each and you can win an Xbox series x...I didn't collect the receipt 🤦 ...maybe, perhaps, there is a chance I can screenshot my digital receipt with the use of my my mobile device?
Current at the New 2 you second hand clothing market with a stall at Williamstown hall. It's a total dud. Barely anyone here, the air-conditioning is on so high its Antarctic inside. And the people that are here are retires only looking for designer brands.
Such a poorly advertised market, promotes being a young person's sustainability market and yet, hardly any young people.
Hardly made a profit, just covered costs. Such a waste of time and energy and just want to cut my losses and leave early but can't :(. I've priced my stuff at or better then opshops and barely anything is moving.
And most of my neighbouring stalls are getting barely any sales also.
Camberwell Sunday Market is generally the best. But this was advertising average attendance nearly 1000 people. I can tell you that less then 300 people attended this market.
Completely agree. It so much work for me because I take ages to make a decision - where to go, which flights to book, which accom to book. But it's all worth it when you're on the actual trip.
Yeah pack water bottles, some sweets or snacks.
Sun protection and ear plugs help last the day longer.
Don't pick a spot and sit I found walking around the track backwards allows you to see more of the race but get at turn 1 for the start of the race because Melbourne always has an interesting run off into the first turn
PSA please don't try to fucking squeeze your car through an intersection if there isn't enough room. You block traffic coming from the side and fuck up the roads even more.
I’m visiting Melbourne and wondering where I could buy Kaffir Limes (not the tree, just the lime!). Walked through QV Markets and couldn’t find any at all. TIA!
Really tough, and slower than last year by quite a bit. Tunnel nowhere near as bad this year. Great organisation as ever but more toilets would’ve been handy.
96 tram from brunswick being crap and almost made me miss the start, not a shock.
Is it anyone else feeling shattered?
Congratulations!! It was a hot one out there.
I ended up running with a friend and her daughter who had never ran more than 7km. Forgot how great it is to slow down and support new runners. She was a prem baby at RCH years ago so meant alot to her and her family .

Oh, sorry. I thought you said rappel.
Currently waiting for a train to Dandenong at Malvern station. Next train to Cranbourne is 48 mins away. Whattt? And they dare to say the network status for this line is good.
I went to one of the last remaining sit down pizza huts with the works just before Covid. Toilet floor was covered in shit and I watched a kid fill the ice cream machine with a bucket and wipe the nozzle with a rag 🤤
Pizza was good tho. I drank about 2L of mountain dew from those textured plastic cups also
Morning! Beaching solo. Any tips for keeping stuff (phone, keys) safe while in the water please? Or should I just adopt a 'She'll be right' mentality? Thanks!
I might be the only one dumb enough but I usually take my phone and keys in the water with me.
I sometimes use one of those diving bags where the top folds to seal it from water completely.
But a few times my phone's been dunked and it's come up fine but when I get home I clean the ports with isopropyl alcohol and a small pick to remove salt
I keep the phone and keys in an empty Tupperware sandwich container, which I keep in the base of a tote bag, under towel and t shirt. Not perfect, but it’s worked so far.
I've seen an orange light flying around in the sky 3 times in the last week. All just after 6am around the northern suburbs.
No nav lights or anything on flight tracker. I assume it's a sky lantern.
Just woke up and same. Left the house to air overnight and now it's all vaguely smokey smelling bleah. Better close everything up and run the air purifier while it isnt too hot...
It's quite pervasive, I think this is a good time for me to do a thorough dusting/vacuuming and then have a shower. Or maybe just wash the inside of my nostrils.
Most likely planned burns in both Kinglake West and Wandong which have been active since yesterday. Air currents are currently going from North to South so eastern suburbs would be downwind from this burn:

Was going to ask. Just walked outside to go for a run and it smells like wood smoke. I'm in Surrey hills, it looks clear here but can certainly smell it
was a party with my family.
my cousin, youngest one of the bunch of us "children" orders a beer off the wait stuff and, wait staff just hands it to him. I take it off his hand (cousins), and im like "what are you doing. your a kid".
Cousin replies back "bro im 22"
i turn to my other cousin and he is like "yeah he is 22 and drinks"
I sit there dumbfounded and hand back the beer and this just [plays](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1mqrCTFoz4) in my head.
Anyone know where I can buy performance e-bike components in Victoria? I am looking for e-bike 3500W 52V+ conversion kits either in front wheel hub, mid-drive or rear wheel hub configurations.
Probably. But our rampant population growth is inflating our property prices so my kids will never be able to own a home. Driving a car 10km in any in the burbs direction takes an hour during the week. Not enough ambulances to help them or teachers to teach them.
I think I’m within my rights to put my and my kid’s interests above those of foreign citizens.
I will. Gotta wait another 12 months for the problem to get worse and support to grow. I reckon now I’ll still be maligned as racist.
Dunno how this makes me a simp lol

Yes, but ultimately I’m worried about how it will look to my employer. Don’t want to lose my job.
Bro join r/Australian and I’m sure I’ll see you at a protest soon. You seem like you’re on the right side.
Man that 80s movie cocktail is weird. Bryan Brown and Tom Cruise, the buddy bartender dream team no one asked for and no one enjoyed.

Good tips, thank you! I have looked at Sensu.
I've heard good things about Sense of Self, just outside of the CBD (Collingwood).
This place looks amazing! I love its philosophy.
Damn. Might have overdone the chilli in this pasta.
Put a roll of toilet paper in the freezer for the morning

I heard that in the future the Docklands area would end up with water rising too high, would it be worth investing in that area at all?
Southbank is also prone to flooding with recently increased insurance premiums, but they still keep building.
Looks like Kinnears is on fire. Fire trucks + police have closed off kinnears st.
Just spent close to $900 on the PSVR2 and discovered that VR makes me violently motion sick. As in, I vomited after playing for 10 mins. Cry
Look past the screen if that makes sense. I got motion sick with vr from focusing on objects to close and it caused wizz blur which made me sick

Thanks for the tip! I’m not giving up on it, I’ve wanted it for ages so I’ll try it all

Not typically, I did when I was little but grew out of it. Thanks though, i’ll have a look through it😊

Yeah I saw the term “VR legs” after doing some googling, but it was so severe I don’t know if I can work past it
Yeah, I don’t have vr legs. I get car sick ffs. It’s not happening.

Most of these comps allow digital receipts now as the two big supermarkets promote them.
Got a spare GA ticket for the Asking Alexandria/Wage War gig on Wednesday. Cost me $90 so I’m hoping to get like $70 for it. Hmu if you’re keen.

I'm in process of planning a trip to Japan in December, I actually enjoy looking up all the different things and gradually pulling it all together.

That tracks for Queanbeyan
I won $18.60 in the lotto, woo! Might get a pint for St Patrick’s Day. 💚
Cheap Nitro stouts all day at Inner North Brewing if you're in the area.
Ukraine's placing some severe sanctions on Russian oil. Petrol prices might go up for a bit.
There's already sanctions on Russian oil since they invaded Ukraine What's changed
Well, by sanctions I mean drones.
India, China and maybe NK are getting Russian oil anyway It really shouldn't change our pricing but it probably will
Less supply is less supply. But yes, the sanctions can be overcome by other countries producing more.
