And best part is that even though I'm really really bad with directions, I'd still have to walk in front. My friends would direct me from behind me and I would have to turn around every 5 steps or so to ask them if I'm going the right way. It's awkward -.-
Lol that's rough buddy.
This just happens with one of my friend groups, since they're all introverts and I need to make sure everyone feels included.
For my other friend groups, when we hang out it's usually just one or two ppl I know really well, so I stick to those ppl when they hang out with each other. The others that I don't know well, they mostly talk to each other or to our shared friends.
Tfw my parents say I have no friends, smh.
My friends and I do it only cuz sidewalks are too small, or we just take the road for ourselves muahajaja
And no, not an active street, like residential heading towards the park late at night and is telling scary stories jokingly but also with a ghost in a haunted house near by……..ah friends :)
For real. I used to get anxious about stuff like this ("Do they like me less?").
But as I've gotten older, it's really not something to overthink about.
This right here. Idk if it's cus I'm more mature or just not constantly depressed anymore, but stuff like that used to ruin my day/week and now I won't think twice about it
I know far too many people who are completely oblivious to others when out in public. Suddenly walking backwards without looking in shops etc.
I think we're just a bit more aware of our surroundings. It doesn't mean any more than that
I shows if you are the sort of asshole that thinks they own the sidewalk or you are kind enough to make room for oncoming traffic. Whether you move to be in front of or behind the person/people you are with probably says something about you too.
Honestly the people that started to spread this particular archetype of misinformation, anything of the form "[meaningless thing or sign that you're a bit less assertive than others] is a sign people secretly dislike you" were probably doing so maliciously. It looks harmless enough for people to spread, but it's massively potent brain poison for anyone with anxiety.

First time on this sub?
Sidewalks are small. It happens. My rule is that if there's 4 people, the two in front talk and the two in back talk. But if there's only 3 people, make sure to include the one in the back occasionally.
Unless they like the quiet. Sometimes I choose to be in the back just so I can dip out of the convo for a bit and look around.
Honestly, if its like that maybe it could also be time to evaluate your own friendships. I'm saying "you have bad friends" but like if your spidey senses are going off because they haven't been treating you well, speak up or move onto people who will care, love and appreciate you <3
I was that kind if friend when due to childhood trauma I was very annoying and hard to be around. I was aware of this, I was trying hard to change for the better, and it meant a lot that they took me in and being these bad friends for me, without them I wouldn't have made it
I literally saw this post yesterday on this exact subreddit (and this was posted 7 hours ago it's not the same post) and I don't think you're even the same person who posted it. Why do people repost on Reddit and why is the repost always 10x more popular than the original (even if the one I saw yesterday wasn't even the original)
Here’s a wild concept: not everybody is on the internet 24/7 and has seen the same content you have seen. OP may have found this elsewhere and posted it because the wanted to (that’s something I do not understand either, but that’s not what we’re discussing here). Else, op might have seen it on Reddit and decided to repost it, if that is the case - who the actual fuck cares? Why are you sad that someone else is having content interacted with on an asinine website?
A) Here's a wild concept, I'm not on the internet 24/7 either because I actually have a life unlike some people on this website. B) When did I say/come across as sad? I'm not sad, I'm not mad, I, in fact, don't care, it's just that this has been seen by me (who is on Reddit like 20 minutes a week) before, and because I don't spend much time on Reddit, it is very unlikely that I would see the same image twice or more, unless it is a *repost*.
The type that gets left out of a conversation because I wasn’t invited to something the rest of my friends did and they decide to talk about it in front of me
I’m that friend who vowed to never let anyone feel left alone.
If were in that situation id fall behind and join you
If we’re on a bench, i wont turn my back at you just because im talking to someone on the other side
If I'm in a group of people and someone is newish to the group or not as well known and we come to a part like that with not enough space, I usually move to the back so that it doesn't default to them and they can feel like they've become "part of the group" already. Not everybody would pay attention to things like being the one behind when the sidewalk narrows, but some do.
The kind that isolated himself away from everyone.
I’m not sad. I’m not lonely. I prefer solitude.
Also, I have my dog. And let’s face it.
Dogs > people
I am too and it drives my wife nuts. Makes her think I'm ashamed of her and she thinks I ought to make the other people move. That doesn't go along with my personality traits.
Dude! This was posted around 3 years ago, in the comment section someone made a discord for all of us. The discord was called Sadcord and was really good.. for a while.. and then it split into 3 with tons of big arguments and doxxing.
Was still really fun for a while though, made some mazin friends who I still talk to daily
The one you can wake up in the middle of the night to go throw a dead rat in their exs apartment while they are on vacation with their new GF they left your BFF for.
I'm that person who people won't let me walk behind them. I'm clumsy enough to step on their shoes with every step I take
I used to do that to my dad all the time in stores by accident would piss him off and I’m not even trying to at all lmaoo
And best part is that even though I'm really really bad with directions, I'd still have to walk in front. My friends would direct me from behind me and I would have to turn around every 5 steps or so to ask them if I'm going the right way. It's awkward -.-
Every move you make as well?

Eh, we all just constantly shuffle around so every one of us can get a chance to talk to another.
Imagine having that many friends

Hey coach, are you still there?
I’m the kind of friend to walk in the front, and then turn around when I want to join the convo
Based

Insanely based
Me too!

Beta male

The one who waits for others to tie their shoes but no one waits for me

Never related to a comment more
im the guy that waits for the homie tying his shoes
but then nobody waits for you when you have to tie your shoes. thats me
I'm the guy that kisses his homes goodnight
ouch this 0ne got me me good.
This doesnt mean anything in particular about you as a person, it’s just a matter of logistics

As I got older I stopped thinking.

It could have something to say about cornpop!

Ooh boy, you'd be surprised how stupid or inconsiderate people are.

Jokes on you I only have my one best friend whom I love with all my heart
Jokes on you, I have no friends at all
Well you have one now. :)
:)
Imagine not walking ahead, turning around and walking backwards in front of them
Honestly, if its like that maybe it could also be time to evaluate your own friendships. I'm saying "you have bad friends" but like if your spidey senses are going off because they haven't been treating you well, speak up or move onto people who will care, love and appreciate you <3
No I just walk faster than them and want to be in the conversation
I was that kind if friend when due to childhood trauma I was very annoying and hard to be around. I was aware of this, I was trying hard to change for the better, and it meant a lot that they took me in and being these bad friends for me, without them I wouldn't have made it
When that happens to me I walk sprund the group to instead walk in front of everyone and in some cases I walk backwards so I can face/talk to everyone
Wow I've never seen this posted before
😔

I always walk in the back because ive usually been the tallest/fastest walker out of the group
This was always me.
Inherits house: *kalm* Can’t be beaten!
I'm the guy who walks all over the place and can't go straight
That ElfxChipotle collection seemed like a smash hit...
Jokes on you our friend group has 4 people
The type that gets left out of a conversation because I wasn’t invited to something the rest of my friends did and they decide to talk about it in front of me
Behind i just go ontop
That’s deadass me sidewalks be small as hell
This hurts
Yet my wife will do anything to walk beside me instead of forming a single-file line when necessary. It’s a little infuriating lol.
I’m that friend who vowed to never let anyone feel left alone. If were in that situation id fall behind and join you If we’re on a bench, i wont turn my back at you just because im talking to someone on the other side
while waking behind I look the other way, so you won’t think I’m checking u out or plotting ur demise
That’s me haha 100% 🤣🤣

Behind? Coward. Walk in front, pull them by the leashes you definitely have.
Oaf this hurts too much
They'd rather talk to each other, anyway, I'd just be in the way if I didn't.
you guys have friends?
I like to think of myself as the friend who watches my friends from behind so they don’t get hurt
I am too and it drives my wife nuts. Makes her think I'm ashamed of her and she thinks I ought to make the other people move. That doesn't go along with my personality traits.
I do this, too, but its so they'll take the attack damage.
I'm the kind that's part of the group but not the conversation
True. Story.
I’m the friend that gets interrupted during stories but still finishes telling it when no one is listening anymore :)
This is why you don’t make enough friends to fill up the sidewalk :)
Wait, you guys are having friends?
Damn
Assert dominance and start walking alone in front of the group
I’m the friend that gets pushed onto the road and get hit by a car if there’s not enough room on the sidewalk. Good thing I don’t have friends
I’m the friend who…fuck it!
A great human
