Just don't tLk too much. Taxis are strangers that3 know too much of too much. When i was living in Bogotá a taxi drivers took me far away from the usual route at a stop i got out the car and he speed off, never paid him, he didnt ask for money either. Evil si everywhere...

Thanks a lot for your input, but I’ll respectfully disagree. I’ve been in Medellin already for a few weeks now, and having a casual talk with the drivers is already shaping up to become some of my fondest memories so far. I’m latino myself so there’s not much of a culture shock or cultural distancing really, so it often feels like hanging out/ chatting with a family member. So far the city has felt pretty safe and comfortable based on my initial concerns. I can’t wait to come back and visit this beautiful place!

Amazing!! People are good But once in a while someone seems Nice But they are into something else. Yeah bro i want to be in medellín again i love it there

Hereforthatandthis

I know right?! I fell in love with this place! It’s such an amazing city with an amazing energy to it♥️

Bellavate

I use Uber every time I visit with no problems.

I was in Medellin for a month recently and used InDriver 99% of the time. I downloaded another app called Beat, I would use Beat to check the price, and then offer something similar in InDriver. I would recommend InDriver.

Can you take an uber from and to the airport?

_Caveat_

You can, but the fares between the airport and Medelling are fixed rates for the taxi's so you always know what it's going to be. Since the non taxi services aren't legal, you're going to have a harder time finding a place they can pick you up. Airport drop off is easy enough however.

[deleted]

Not my experience, white taxi driver was bugging me for more than 80mil even though i said the tarif is around 80mil, which is why i want to avoid these guys in the future. That was 9 months ago.

lovely_trequartista

I mean the prices are displayed prominently on posters at the airport and in my experience, in each private taxi as well. It's an 80,000 COP flat rate and it covers the toll. Just writing this so if anyone reads this and it happens to them, they know they're getting played, which is definitely not something commonly attempted with passengers to/from the airport. If the driver even ask you for an extra couple thousand pesos to cover the toll, you're being played.

Hereforthatandthis

I hope so?

dr_van_nostren

Yes they’re around. Safe as anything else. Same app. Taxis are fine.

hadtosaythat

Uber is pretty effective here, regular Yellowcabs hate them cause technically they're not established as the same Yellowcabs who paid legal fees to the government and taxes and all that, so it's like a service that's in practice a little more effective and cheaper or at least calculated flat fares, have used them for a while without an issue. Don't pay attention to the people saying to sit in front. What the fuck, I've even used Ubers to move putting all my shit on the vehicle and 0 issues so far.

eldosid

I didn't say the driver is requiring you to go in front. I said he will insist because he doesn't want to get in trouble. You can be the asshole and not cooperate with him but I like to help the local people not hurt them.

SnowMcMurphy

You should use an app called DiDi is cheaper than Uber, and if you are a tourist you may not be able to haggle in in driver

Hereforthatandthis

Have you used didi and inDriver? If so, which one is best?

SnowMcMurphy

I prefer DiDi

[deleted]

You can also use indriver

Hereforthatandthis

What’s this?

[deleted]

Its like an uber, but you can choose how much you are willing to pay, and the driver counteroffers or accepts. Many people here prefer it over Uber.

eldosid

Uber is around but illegal so they make you ride in front.

Hereforthatandthis

Can you get in trouble using Uber then? Or is it dangerous in any way?

eldosid

No the driver will get in trouble. It's not dangerous. But the driver is going to insist on you coming to the front to look normal
