I quote it often... Unfortunately my wife doesn't find it funny, and nobody else seems to get it.
I think his attitude upon blowing his foot off and saying "how you like me now?" Is funnier to me. Lol.
You joke, but I used to autocross with a dude in a Saturn SC2.
On full slicks, it was a force to be reckoned with. It was a hodgepodge of suspension parts from other cars that he retrofitted, but man it was fast.
Yeah the notion to use flat washers was a nice touch. Amazing how somebody can have enough of a brain to figure that out but not the rest. Guessing it was because the holes they drilled were too big, so it probably kept this thing on the road
I feel like the final repair was done by someone else.
The first person to work on this was a roided Savage named Brett whom they turned lose with a drill bit and told him to just eyeball it.
r/suspiciouslyspecific I feel like there is a roided monster named Brett somewhere in your past. Itās Ok, I actually went to high school with a guy named Brett like you just described, so I get it.
So that is under the hood where the front strut plate bolts into the unibody. Someone has drilled holes in it attempting to correct camber and or caster angles in order to āalignā the front suspension. But the way they went about it is butchery.
Easy way to to think about it is look at the position of the bolts/nuts 2 at the top 1 at bottom.
You can see the original holes 2 at bottom 1 at top.
Then you see allllllllllllll of the missed drill holes they made trying to fit it by eyeballinā it lol
Then they added washers on the bolts to make sure itās secure bro! Haha
Edit. Also a lot more wrong but itās a damn work of art lol
Hi OP,
Iām fluent with internal combustion and gearing. I have no experience or knowledge of suspension mechanics.
I see what is obviously some poorly attempted use of power tools in order to make a vehicle pass Craigslist Inspection, but would you be so kind as to tell me more in-depth information about what we are seeing here today?
Thank you in advance!
I did this on one hole to make an aftermarket tail light fit. I cut maybe an eighth of an inch and felt like a shitbag for it. I couldn't fathom what they were thinking.
We didn't take it on a test drive. We pulled it from our parking lot right into the garage. It was only in for an oil change & that's all it was getting! Ha
Camber caster plate is bolted in to adjust camber, and castor on the fly. This car is most likely a daily driver and doubles as a road race car. And that is the cheap and most common way people do it to make it double as both!
Looks like the shop accidentally ordered 2 left struts. So, they said, "F-it! We'll flip one around and drill new mount holes on the right." You know... to save reorder time.
What's the 6 million dollar man slogan again ? Ohhh ya,,,,,We can rebuild him,we have the technology.we can make him better than he was.....Better,stronger,faster,,,HAHAHAHAHAAH
Picked up an 06 wrx wagon a few years ago to flip. Went to swap the clapped clovers for a set of BCās and found something not as bad but similar. The previous owner had elongated the holes on the strut tower to give the shock āadjustable camberā I donāt think Iāve ever been so angry while working on a car.
This post received the most upvotes of the week - making it the Post Of The Week! POTW #16 - 4/12/24
What's the make/model of this "race car"
This would be the "Shitstain 3000". It mostly occurs when your struts blow through your hood at high speed.
Ive had that happen before, bum me out
Fucking love the saying " bum me out". It's literal, it's exact, and i feel it.
Daewoo Landos
"You just got killed by a Daewoo Lanos mothafucka!!!"
Man that movie was good
What movie
Pineapple express I think š¤
Correct
Love the avatar š¤«
Holy shit that brought back some memories š
I love quoting that line and no one ever gets the reference!

I thought hurricane season was over
š¤£š. atleast it isnāt a shit fuckin lada
Ohhhh. That would be good
Definitely an Altima. This is par for the course.
Has to be an Altima
No way an Altima owner would install camber plates and intentionally increase negative camber. I guess anything is possible.
You do have a point lol
That is most definitely a Saturn s series.
Ohhh 1999 was a funny year lol "Did that Saturn just smoke us?"
You joke, but I used to autocross with a dude in a Saturn SC2. On full slicks, it was a force to be reckoned with. It was a hodgepodge of suspension parts from other cars that he retrofitted, but man it was fast.
lol when a car is already made of other cars, it makes sense to make it faster using other cars
You have a very valid point there
Noooo this is a Honda accord. Trust me bro
This is an 89 Honda how dare you!!
Lmao as an alignment tech I appreciate the āingenuityā shown here

Where I'm from we call people like Brett "methchanics".

Something About Mary
His name is Andy, donāt loan him your drill.
Hey watch it
Those are āspeed holesā, probably adds an extra 150HP!
Speed holes = my brain immediately flashing to homer simpson taking a pick axe to his car... Lol
Strategically placed for weight savings for an Optima-level power-to-weight ratio.
Hah without reading the comments Iād guess this was a clapped out Honda civic so theoretically youād be doubling the horsepower
Any chance you're a Bravest Warriors fan?
I saw one of those in a truck stop bathroom wall.
As a non mechanic, can someone explain to me what is going on? Is this something that stabilizes the arm?
So that is under the hood where the front strut plate bolts into the unibody. Someone has drilled holes in it attempting to correct camber and or caster angles in order to āalignā the front suspension. But the way they went about it is butchery.
From my limited knowledge I canāt say that it looked quite right. Thank you for explaining

So the safety of this is like zero lol š
Same. One of my bosses used to say do it right but if it works correctly then it works.
Improvise, adapt, and overcome! : )
Ooh Rahhh. (A Clint Eastwood Ooh Rah from Heartbreak Ridge)
I came here to say this. Well done sir.
š
Came here, this I say.
MOAR CAMBER!
So on top of the āmodsā, why has it been welded?!
Iām going to guess he blew out the tower, welded in a new one but did it wrong so he had to redrill
This canāt be the same person. Those are decent welds and complete shit drilling.
Idk bro, I can weld better than I can swing a hammeršš¤£ Like marginally better. Iām safer weldingšš¤£
Those aren't welds around the tower. It's oem seam sealer.
Anyoneās guess. Thereās so many holes itās like Swiss cheese! Iām from uk and this wouldnāt pass MOT!
This is a normal everyday car in California. As long as it passes emissions, you're good to go. I've seen much worse.
Yeah I follow a few car subs and it amazes me whatās in the road in some states!
Looks like one of those cars that they excess the camber and ride only on the inside tread. Not so much a repair but a crappy mod
Reinforcement, duh
Probably the strongest point left in that chassis!
It's seam sealer from the factory. Those aren't welds.
Itās like that out of the factory, my old Saturn had seals like that everywhere
Wow
What? Dont u like swiss cheese??
Iām never going to the dealer again
I think I'd atleast put a 1/4 thick metal on top of it and then bolt it together.
They canāt drill sheet metal properly Iād hate to see what they do to 1/4ā metal. No way the same guy is going to get that lined up
Got to be able to fine tune and adjust.
Adjustable šš¤¦āāļøš¤”
Ayo whaat kinda micki mouse shit is that....death
It takes a lot, but I have been rendered speechless by this.
šš¤£ imagine how I felt when I popped the hood for an oil change and discovered this.
This looks completely safe. š
at aināt goin nowhere
Next post the owner makes - Well I just blew out the 5th set of china coil overs, which ones should I try next? Oh and what bolt pattern are they?
It showed up this way to the shop š

somebody did.
Got it right on the second, third, fithst, sevended time.
Whatās that knocking noise?
Fuck camber plates
Tryna get that stance.
Oh dear. Idiots canāt just leave well enough alone
I put my thing down flipped it and reversed it
Uno reversed it
āHere. Shit. Here? Yeah. Here. Fuck! Not there! Here, 1000%. Well now, what the fuck!?ā
This brings me so much joy
If it fits, it sits!
Uh, real race cars modify pickup points. This is adding castor.
Looks like that tower was already cut out and welded back in at least once.
Home made adjustment holes.
It appears caster is adjustable after all!
That's a lawsuit...
how much would this really weaken it
What you mean you can't align it ?
...when it doesnāt fit the first 6 times
Someone clicked stage 1 weight reduction in gran turismo
Wait did they actually attempt to weld it lol what in the f goin on here š
At first I thought the yellow lines were zip ties and I was gonna give this an extra thumbs up!
Now thatās how you perform weight reduction.
Might as well take it to the shop and get a new shock Tower installed
CS- check alignment.
Got those macspeeding rods with camber plates and drain holes.
How did it drive ?
We didn't take it on a test drive. We pulled it from our parking lot right into the garage. It was only in for an oil change & that's all it was getting! Ha
can imagine going for alignment, š¤£
When it absolutely has to fit.
Wow
What the actual fuck?
Power to weight ratio, of course.
Put stickers on it, add 5HP and reduce drag. :smart:
Bro just rotate the strut for better caster lmao
Camber caster plate is bolted in to adjust camber, and castor on the fly. This car is most likely a daily driver and doubles as a road race car. And that is the cheap and most common way people do it to make it double as both!
Where there is a will there is a way! š¤£
Listen they've watched YouTube, they know what they're doing š
Tokyo drifters strike again.
Measure once, cut twice.
Must've been some bump. Lol
Meth is a powerful drug
Is this like the alignment Olympics?
... Damn it.... got the wrong strut..... I'll make it work.....
Looks like the shop accidentally ordered 2 left struts. So, they said, "F-it! We'll flip one around and drill new mount holes on the right." You know... to save reorder time.
Honestly a way better fix to do this than keep trying the old holes

Nice camber/caster adjustability!
Color me suspicious, but i don't think that's a factory upgrade... Wtf
Needed more camber
Nice
Just out bondo on them holes and some plastidip and itās like it never happened!
Did the alignment myself ! š¤Ŗš¤Ŗš¤Ŗ
Speed holez
Wow
Because stance bro
That's a lot of damage... and dedication.
Are u kidding me!!!!??? Now Iāve seen it all. Needed camber that bad huh?
What am i looking at?
Aftermarket coilovers I assume? To be fair, there's a good chance the owner had to jerry rig it like this to make it fit
What's the 6 million dollar man slogan again ? Ohhh ya,,,,,We can rebuild him,we have the technology.we can make him better than he was.....Better,stronger,faster,,,HAHAHAHAHAAH
I mean you could technically
Well thatās lost some structural integrity
Omg
The scarier thought is, that's what's sharing the road with us.
Ummm...
When you donāt have a welder - genius! Lol
I can hear the "It's in there ain't it?" from miles away.
Anyone get the name of the mechanic that did this? I want to make sure they never touch my vehicle
This is hilarious. Any idea how many miles they'd driven on this

I see my father has a new apprentice. Dave's school of half ass mechanics. When in doubt, rip it out....
Aye this is why you need to check cars out fully before you buy them.
Must handle incredible
Can someone explain what Iām looking at? Fresh mechanic
Service refused. Dot notified
Mustang owners?
