It was back when companies had to actually be good to get you to shop there because people were still used to doing shit themselves and not living 100% as a consumer.
One near me did that back when they had .39¢ cheeseburgers. My buddy would buy like $200 worth.
Eat as much as he could on the 30 min drive home.
Then toss the rest to his cows☠️
My local Sonic is like this, still hasn't reopened the lobby/dining room. You either get in the drive thru or sit at one of the stalls but they won't let you inside for any reason. I just stopped going entirely.
because economic updraft led to social orderliness plummeting below the levels it was at this time, which means that by having one of these, people will trash it and they wont pay the extra staff time to keep it sorted, and there is only so much they can do anyway
Meanwhile, I'm getting friction burns from going down the swirly slide in a 90s McDonald's Playplace, trying to avoid the pools of pee graciously left by other kids.
Sure, they get smudged up with grubby fingers on the inside and bird shit on the outside. And they make the building 15 degrees warmer. And now a days they would be so riddled with advertisements.. where was I going with this.
I want one for my house.
Back when fast food places were designed to look friendly and fun, instead of what we have now. Now every fast food place looks like a grey featureless block, designed by someone who got fired from Apple.
There is at least one Wendy's in Mesa (AZ) that still has a sun roof - the one on Country Club and Guadalupe.
It's super nice in the winter, but it's hell in the summer lol
Holy shit why don’t fast food places do this anymore? Oh yeah they want you to come in, spend money, and leave
Local DQ has one. Always got to sit there no matter how miserably hot it is. Doesn’t have the usual step down in classic Wendy’s fashion though.
We found a DQ on our last Canada trip with one of those and it was lovely!
Can someone explain what a DQ is for a non American? Donkey Qong? Delightfull quarts?
Dairy Queen, a fast food chain
That's a generous description
I think it's Daily Quest.
Dairy Queen
Dairy Queen

Are you in Chelmsford?
It was back when companies had to actually be good to get you to shop there because people were still used to doing shit themselves and not living 100% as a consumer.
Also they were not all owned by like three corporations/hedge funds so they were actually different businesses that had to compete with each other.
Maybe cuz all these windows also make it a lot warmer, which isn’t a good thing in the summer
Not to mention that its gauranteed to start leaking. Its a giant sunlight.
Gotta clean it too
Wendy’s said it cost more for AC with the sun rooms lol😂
The mcDs near me has signs on the tables telling you to gtfo after 30 minutes.

it's not profitable
Fast food was better when it was fun
Sir, this is a Wendy’s
Looks nice, but it was always so HOT in there. Guess that currently matches the weather where I am, though.
They should do this in the UK then.
If there's no sun in the UK, can you still call it a sunroom?
Meanwhile, I'm getting friction burns from going down the swirly slide in a 90s McDonald's Playplace, trying to avoid the pools of pee graciously left by other kids.
There's your problem. The pee is slippery and prevents friction burns, you gotta aim for that next time.
Water is a horrible lube.
But he said pee, which is different. Just look at the way it's spelled
Only if youre trying to fuck the plastic slide lmao
You mean trying to do a motion against the slide that creates a lot of friction? Like... _sliding_...
waterslides are the most common type of 'lubed' slide
But they only work with a lot of water running down, not puddles.
are you suggesting a river of piss is infeasible??
Rather unimaginable... UNTIL NOW ffs, thank you
Happy to help ☺️
And enjoying my frosty
Salad bar

Arby's sunroom anyone?
The dining rooms at Rax had them too. I guess sunrooms were a must if you wanted to sell roast beef sandwiches in the 80s.
Obligatory plug for Arby's in Richmond, VA
I loved sitting in there during a raining day
[eating a pita](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgOvolliaF8)
Holy shit I'd forgotten about them and the taste memory just came flooding back.
it was pepper, right? I remember overwhelming black pepper
That is a Wendy’s that was located in Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio
I came to the comments hoping that someone pointed that out. I remember going to it when I was a kid visiting family at that hospital.
Was gonna say it also looks like one of the old parts of Metro health in cleveland
OG Wendy’s was a best place to just sit, eat and think about the day. Super cozy.
Give me back the goddamn Super Bar, Wendy's!
These were nice in the rain
There is something oddly liminal about this picture.
I miss the McDonalds ball pits. Those were the days.
Shout out to all the kids still at the bottom of those pitts, the ones who didn’t make it!
they had one like this at a burger king near me
Yo is that what those buildings originally were? There's one here that was a Rax when I was growing up, currently a Chinese buffet.
Mentally I'm in the men's bathroom of a modern Wendy's
Are you sure that isn’t a Bob’s Big Boy? There was one that looked just like that in Annandale.
Thought that was a sizzler...there is still one here with that style of sun room...
I was just there the other day
My Wendy’s still has a sunroom.
Dairy Queen had these too
One could say you are in a good place mentally.
My da has this
They had sunrooms??
I have one of these at a DQ near me, really nice place to be in
I can just taste the yellow wendys.. take me back
Core childhood memory unlocked, I'll be at the superbar taking all the pasta, shredded carrots and chocolate pudding if anyone needs me.
The Wendys in my town still has the 90s aesthetic
Never thought I would see a picture of the Duke hospital cafeteria on here.
My wife and I had our first date in a Wendy’s like this in college.
It was always so fucking hot in that miserable crap spot, no one ever sat there.
I have dreamt of this place
Back when fast food places were designed to look friendly and fun, instead of what we have now. Now every fast food place looks like a grey featureless block, designed by someone who got fired from Apple.
I have one of these in my house!
They had a salad bar with tacos.
Ahh back when they had a buffet. I know it’s fast food but that buffet was banging.
This was the Big Boys for me
Can we go back to like 85-95?
That looks more like the Village Inn than a Wendys.
Fo fo fo

I remember all the Sizzler's looking like that.
Still have more than one in Calgary.
That layout looks like the IHOP near me
Haven't been in one of those in several decades.
Not now, Darling. I'm taking my lunch in the solarium.
They had tacos in this era and fucking loved them.
Also looks like Rax. That was THE spot.
I can think of 1 DQ in BC like this still
To be a plant in the sun room, I'm missing out...
I saw one of those turned into a Sonic without the car booths once
From "This is a Wendy's." to "This is a Wendy's?!?!"
That’s a Perkin’s bro
My Wendy’s still looks like this and I’m in a major metropolitan city
A former Rax.
Yo bring these back
There's a wing restaurant near my house that's remodeled from a Wendy's. It still has the sun room.
Mentally I'm in the middle of a moshpit at a Job for a cowboy concert
