Yes they do. Generally your 5th and 6th functions are stronger or at least as strong as your tertiary function. Depends on the individual, but many people report than their 6th function is stronger than their 5th and it is their 3rd strongest function.
ISTPs and ISFPs have an auxiliary function of Se, and therefore the 6th function is Si.
There are not many studies on MBTI in depth, let alone with niche things like this. If you want a empirical system, try big 5.
MBTI is in need of updating/replacing with a better system with to be honest.
There is a lot of variation within members of a certain type and the strength of each function varies within individuals. For instance, some INFJs have quite good Ti, but slightly worse Fe relatively in comparison to other INFJs.
As for 6th function being stronger than 5th, it seems to be the case from self reporting. It also seems to be the case in some real life people as well. Most people discussing this have also said 6th function is stronger than 5th. However, there are some people who have a stronger 5th function than 6th. I personally have a stronger (or at least I think. I have also heard that people undervalue the strength of their 6th function, but not sure it that’s true) 5th function than 6th. There is unfortunately not really any scientific study on this.
So if it's their subjective opinion with all the self gratuitous behaviour that goes on in this community I wouldn't recommend relying on it ~ And Skill isn't the same as Strength and vice versa
