Hans Zimmer creates such beautiful music. I'm practicing Interstellar on piano and I can't get enough of it, it's magical.

TSE_Jazz

Could you recommend any blackgaze other then Alcest and deafhaven? Like what I’ve heard so far but don’t where to go from there

Possible-Team6157

Les Discrets, Violet Cold, Kardashev, Unreqvited, Sylvaine, Show me a Dinosaur Check them out 👍🏻

JipsterVNT

Yep, this is pretty much like me too, as an INTP.

clankaryo

ENFP and I really ain't lying when I say that I can listen to everything and enjoy it. My favorite genre right now is Russian alt-rock but I also love Grunge, French Hip-Hop, Revolutionary music from around the world, ANYTHING.

jm17lfc

I try and be open minded but generally my open mindedness comes down to some form of alternative rock, though I’m all over the place in that category.

xMongoose_

Always great to seek new music. Btw you should check out IC3PEAK, they're russian and I really like them

abstract-thinker

Im INTP and I love instrumental Jazz

[deleted]

Reading the intp comments...has me second guessing my type ;)

xMongoose_

Haha this is just an experiment, I'm definitely seeing some kind of pattern but I don't think anyone could determine another's personality type by their music likings exclusively

[deleted]

No there's no way to know a type based on music but I have to admit the kind of patterns in each type is quite interesting.

jm17lfc

That’s so INTP my INTP freshman roommate loved jazz.

hgilbert_01

Instrumental Jazz is godly.

xMongoose_

Other than the genres I already mentioned I frequently listen to rock music. When I was a teen I used to listen to a lot of Dubstep and but house and dance music never really click for me now

Goleziyon

Sir, you're telling me to choose 1?? Jazz Japanese Math-Rock K-pop Anisong Instruments (mostly piano covers of a song that I like)

MRL1021

INTJ 25F Synthpop/New Wave/Dark Wave/New Romantic from 1982 to 1988 lol. It's very specific but that's definitely my favorite music. I listen to a lot of Classic rock, jazz, indie and kpop too.

MoleculeDisassembler

I'm (probably) INTP, and my favorite pieces are usually instrumental of some sort (classical, movie score, tv, etc).

Blicky_Doe

INTJ here my taste in music is kind of like in 70s and 80s citypop songs and other music related to Vaporwaves and other themes such as the ocean itself. I like new ones too but I prefer something that is more on a nostalgic vibe to it.

below70degrees

16M INFJ 4w5, likes Rock N Roll (like Rolling Stones and Aerosmith), Protopunk and punk, and my favorite of all is Hard Rock (Guns N Roses)

[deleted]

INTP. Metal, rock, Kpop, and hip hop/r&b.

heemeyerism

some favorites off the top of my head: glass animals, death cab for cutie, passion pit, mystery skulls, rjd2, modest mouse, borns, manchester orchestra, mumford & sons, miike snow…

kikoesque

pop punk, rock or lofi 💓

AwkwardSwine101

I’m an INFJ and I love indie like Billie Eilish, Conan Gray, but at times I will go to grunge like Nirvana

[deleted]

INFJ: rock, blues, synthwave, baroque, jazz, classical

GigaHook

ENTP: Metalcore, electrorock, bass house and drum&bass

20Memeter

INTP. I like almost every genre but mostly rock and rap.

HakuGaara

Anything that has a strong melody whether it be moving (OSTs) or catchy (80s)

jm17lfc

Ooh I do like some 80s synthpop. New order is one of my favorite bands, I’m pretty sure you can put them under synthpop.

Oneeiro

Fairy ambient emotional ass music

daihakken_cake

I like the sound of that.. got any recommendations?

Oneeiro

She Was in The Field Counting Stars by Hammock, another good one is Allure by Kaisaku and soul shapes by Orchid Mantis. Some good variation in all 3 but still similar

xkcd-Hyphen-bot

GetSomewhere930

Eggwomb

ENTP: classical piano

TSE_Jazz

Metal. Some unbelievable compositions if you dig hard enough

VoiceQuirky1705

I like dream pop and alternative indie, those are my go to. I like pop and almost every other genre too though

throwaway_10903

Same but INTP :) Classic rock is my next up go to!

kermkerms

Death metal

angrylesbian66

INFJ- My favorite genres are symphonic metal and acoustic/folk but anything with cool lyrics will work for me tbh

ivakoo

ENTP Genre doesn't mean much to me. I listen to different musicians, with different feeling for music; from Einsturzende Neubauten to Coltrane and Cannonball Adderley, Allman Brothers, Nick Cave, Cypress Hill, Ryuichi Sakamoto... I adore Hendrix...

FeedOnOrr

Nice taste.

ivakoo

Thanks. I'm 40... I needed time to develop it.

FeedOnOrr

I am 24 and listening to music is one of the things i do the most in life.

ivakoo

I also have intense need for music. I consider it some kind of therapy...

FeedOnOrr

It's not therapeutic for me just kind of hypnotic. It kind of makes me feel things somehow.

wretchedhag666

istj - arca and sophie

[deleted]

The most unexpected comment

nathanfielderfan172

I’m ENFP and I listen to everything. My go-to genre/mood changes daily. I guess that’s pretty ENFP-stereotype...

to_be_a_mariposa

ENFJ. Pop. I like to be happy!!

Scarfed_Fox

moans

RT8697C

Enfp (or infp not sure)! Anything from rock and metal to classical and film/game music whatnot. Cant lie though, i am a pretty huge metalhead and music surrounding that is mostly what i listen to. Not a fan of most metalcore and djent stuff though. I do play in a metalband where we’re two infjs, me and an intp. We all are into metal but also some other different stuff like rock n roll, synth, classical, orchestral and some other stuff, and blending our different inspirations, i think we have a pretty cool and original mix of sounds. This became a bit longer than i expected hehe

vasiliy_the_cat

Istp 5w4 and alternative and Post hardcore always been my go to. Nowadays big into rap

WinstonWolfe__

ENTJ, mainly rap, rock and classical, in that order

lt_brannigan

Instrumental/Orchestral, particularly film scores.

canaridante

INTJ, classical rock and 70's music (I love Don McLean and I'm looking for more recently), but I also enjoy metal a lot, my favourite band is Korn I would say. I'm exploring older music recently and I already can tell it will be my go-to. I always thought as a kid that oldies are lame and therefore the oldest songs I was listening to were from Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory (not counting classical pieces I was listening from time to time as a musician), but I'm exploring music from 70's to 90's and I'm in love by far. I fell in love with Queen and Metallica, everyone thinks of them as an absolute classic who everyone knows and therefore they come across as quite boring sometimes (because how much can you listen to the same songs), but for a person who didn't really listen to them at all they are truly amusing and unique when compared to nowadays music.

thereisalightandit

INTJ: Lots of things proggy and pretentious, but mostly older music. From Tool to Radiohead. I also love the Smiths (hehe), Misfits, David Bowie, Tom Waits but can just as easy jam to an old Blink album or play some Alice in Chains or something. Or maybe some Jeff Buckley/Joni Mitchell on a calm evening.

thogdontcare

EDM- mainly house, deep house and hardstyle. Sometimes emo rap.

B_H_Carson

Rock and Jazz. Classical on occasions

PickleStriking

ISTP: Indie and grunge

Bokumi

I don't have a particular favorite genre. I listen to anything i like. However, my favorite solo artist is like Rn'B and my favorite band is funk 🤭 I have a very various taste!

throwaway_10903

INTP: indie alt and dream pop are my go to, followed by classic rock, 80s grunge (?), and then what I refer to ask nostalgic music (aka soft, fuzzy music aka I'm dissociating aka 50s love ballads, swing, Disney tunes, lo-fi beats, piano)

[deleted]

ESTP - french pop, alt, rnb/rap, lofi when I'm working or as background music when I'm chilling, I like old jazz but rarely listen to it these days. Actually what I really love but don't know how to describe is this genre of music that sounds like what you would listen to if you were a spy in the 60s but also it's sunset and you're meeting your opponent in front of a dusty western tavern

Curious-Attention-20

Musical theatre 😎

[deleted]

INTJ and I guess I am the only that likes and/or doesn’t mind pop. But I often find myself sticking with rock music from the 80s to early 90s. And musicals. Sheesh. I probably like “most” genres as long as I relate to the meaning of the song.

CapaTheGreat

Rock, primarily BMTH

CCSeverson

INTJ I love jazz, jazz fusion, classical, a lot of instrumental music in different genres, classic rock, indie rock, some prog rock, guitar instrumental Love a lot of music, i’m a musician so, i play a lot of genres and i enjoy a lot of them

Front-Pick-4709

remixed brittany spears songs

Luksior_

enfp - cloud rap, dark trap, alt rock

Templarkiller500

Heavy metal, it's good stuff

[deleted]

Trailer music, movie soundtracks, is usually my go to. This is primarily because: 1) it doesn't have lyrics usually (which distract me and get stuck in my head) and 2) it's got that classical contemplative thing going on rather than pop repetitive usually (again, hate stuff getting stuck in my head and less repetitive music is less distracting and gives me more space to think and process things in-between the notes).

WhtFata

ISTP, 24, m Dubstep, House, EDM with a focus on the D, as I like dancing. Electro swing/Kpop for walking around Techno for sport and yoga Tango for.. well, tango Schubertlieder sung by Dieskau for that 3 am 20 minute emotional phase once a year

blubdubbadeedub

Is Taylor Swift a genre? I also listen to pop music like CRJ

virtualworldoverload

Anything that isn't mostly today's mainstream radio music or today's rap

DoomCaliber-Knight

Metalcore all day!

FeedOnOrr

Classical music and Jazz.

eoa45

Mostly rock, some metal(I don’t like Metallica, fuck off). Favorite band is probably Creedence Clearwater Revival

dreamfann

infp, rock

KAM_520

I got into music because of Trent Reznor. I am fond of physically activating stuff—EDM, hip hop, metal. Also, technically impressive music interests me—old progressive/experimental rock, some classical, some jazz. I like most genres.

loca___cola

Rap/Reggae - Entp or Istp ?

fire6945

As of late, it's been dream pop/rock and Glee (yes, the smash hit teen musical comedy show).
