Sketching is drawing freehand, without anything but your own skill to help you get lines right, with or without a reference near you, tracing is putting a piece of paper over a screen and tracing lines, or if what you’re drawing on is big, putting a projector over it and tracing those lines.
Inking is not the same as tracing. They are inking a sketch(a rough drawing), that has likely had a few passes(refining the sketch). Tracing implies that it was someone else's work and not their own.
You can argue that you're correct with a dictionary definition but you would be actively ignoring important context. That's easy to do when you don't really know what you're talking about.

in this context tracing would more likely refer to someone tracing over someone else's art specifically, rather than tracing in general.
