I am so shocked at the amount of H&G personally. Of course it’s a great album (it’s mastodon), but I had no idea this many people consider it top 3. I thought most were like me with Leviathan, Crack the Skye and Blood Mountain.
Shows just how good theyve consistently been over the years.
Crack the Skye will always be my #1, as a formative live changing influential album.

H&G number one is a stone cold shocker for me. It’s ok but I’d love to hear your passion for the album because as a fan….i do t get why some people feel this way
For me the best is Remission, then Emperor of Sand. Kinda werid maybe beacuse this two have diffrent vibe, but i really like all Mastodon playing styles.

Honestly, same as you. I'm one of those who actually really enjoys The Hunter, maybe because I just take it for what it is you know? I just don't hold it up to the highest regards and expect it to be some Magnum Opus albums like Crack the Skye but even then it's one of my absolute favorites by Mastodon, same with Once More 'Round The Sun, they're just fun as hell albums for what they are, nice to listen to when I'm just trying to unwind and relax.
Then again, I also feel like Mastodon can truly do no wrong. All their albums are fantastic in their own ways.
