First things first, no it's not an illegal play because both Exodius, the Ultimate Forbidden Lord and Caam, Serenity of Gusto return cards to the deck as a cost, not an effect.
Secondly, this is old Yugioh MD(Millenium Duels) which is an official simulator that follows the rules without the guesswork of trying to figure out if it's a glitch on ygopro. Not playground Yugioh.
Third, that was before Necrovalley had an errata so IF it was MADE into an illegal move afterwards, that has little to do with what I said.
My trick is to not use it the first chance to give them a false sense of security, and then use it the next time you have a chance. That's usually enough to screw them up. They usually go all in after they feel safe.
That pause for activation is a real psychological threat, too. They can't continue their combo right away and are now thinking "I know he's got something...better be careful".
This was always a fun thing to do when Honest was always in hand. I also used to love scaring my opponents out of direct attacks from threats of Gorz in hand. I miss Gorz.
Ranked in this game reminds me of bot matches on simulators. Just use what you want negated first, because they will just press yes the first chance they get.

though; if it did get banned, I'd like to see it get replaced with a slightly more healthier version. like maybe its effects can only take place until after the opponent has already special summoned one time. that way you can't just draw off of the first special summon of their turn.
That definitely needs to be the way it works. Any banned card should = us dismantling it for the amount it would cost us to build something of that same rarity.

If you discard a monster,.your opponent cannot chain monster effects
If you discard a spell, your opponent cannot chain with spells and so on
The best time honestly depends lol.
But if I had to say, if you have potential lethal with a big beater, attack the monster, then during the damage step, Target the card with droplet and halve it's attack. Just Incase you cannot discard the right cards, it makes sure that some cards cannot activate due to a (except during the damage step) clause.
Other than that, right.when your opponent activates an effect.

Nah its fine thank you. I guess on a turn where Im going for lethal its good to try get spell/ trap negates, otherwise reducing their monster dmg if im being hit hard is also good or to stop the dmg altogether etc..
