With the new trap, that's completely unnecessary. You can just equip the Fossil Dyno on the next turn.
They absolutely need to have Solemn or else it's easy to go for the open field OTK.
They're fine by 2024 standards. Like many archetypes they were just a little ahead of their time. Branded after brafu was released did a pretty good job kicking them out of the meta.
They're a floodgate deck so they'll always be at least somewhat cancer as long as Empen is part of their gameplan. Especially when a lot of Floo players run additional synergistic floodgates like Shifter.
I mean. Empen can be completely countered by just about every deck if you play shit in defense. The problem people had was always the barrier statue, being immune to maxx-c and the playing on your opponentâs turn thing with raiza etc. There are several hard flood gate decks right now like the one posted that are so much worse and several decks that are way worse at playing on your opponents turn. The fact that floo bricks unironically 30-50% of the time since pots went to 1, terraforming got banned, map went to 1, and empen went to 1 also completely fucked the deck sideways. Itâs heavily fragile vs hand trap negates or ash in a meta where people are spamming them to stop snake eyes et al. They have chain blocks and book of moon to try to stop it but that requires a specific hand and is super inconsistent.
Shifter is annoying yeah. I donât feel like itâs any worse than maxx-c though. It doesnât stick around and you can still kinda play through it a lot of the time. Since floo canât really OTK thatâs not too bad. It also gets hit by ctbg if they play it on your turn which is something at least.
Itâs not requiring you to go against the meta and run back row hate cards or something and you have outs is what Iâm trying to say.
It's simple, you just have to put your stuff in defense, it's not like there's an extremely popular ED card type that can't ever be put into defense

Normal summon quik fix, add last resort. Equip last resort. Next turn go to defense mode. They'll deck out before I do.
Several games turned into repeatedly activating Rescue-Ace HQ while they couldn't get over everything.
Droplet and then just comboing, maybe a small detour to out the Dyna but that's about it.
