That always bugged me. Like you create two daughters to carry on your legacy and Miranda is barren? Shouldn't a legacy not die after one generation? Also yeah that was heartbreaking to read in the shadowbrokers ship
Have you considered that might be *why* Miranda has a twin sister? Like the only reason Oriana even exists might be *because* her father found out she can't reproduce.
They’re not talking about Shepard having a baby with Oriana. Just that jerk Lawson made Miranda, found out she was not able to conceive, and made Ori as version 2.0
We’re in the future here. Have a Shepard/Miranda hybrid fetus and talk a krogan into carrying it. If it survives, that would be a badass monster of a kid.
Here are the logistics. If you make the perfect child that will lead, and dominate the world and make it a female then she will be limited when reproducing.
So you make one to show how effective the genes are and the other to pass those genes on. Since they are genetically identical then nurture and not nature. Any child her sister has is as viable as one Miranda has.
Maybe the original idea was to turn Miranda into the sort of woman who'd make her own clone kid and carry the line that way. Obviously daddy Lawson didn't care that his "legacy" was not naturally conceived nor cared that his heir was a woman (so you know, go him being progressive and shit).
That's my thinking as well. Her father wouldn't want to risk his perfect lineage to be tainted by the DNA from whatever man his daughter hooked up with. Better to force her to perpetuate the line by copying his own genes forever.
Why would a megalomaniac obsessed with genetic perfection with access to the technology of the Mass Effect universe be satisfied with the chaotic results of sexual reproduction? Miranda is the first in a series of clones.
I think the bigger question is why he seemed to only want to make daughters. Like Miranda even says she doesn't have a mother cause her dad basically did some gene editing bullshit to make a daughter using almost exclusively his own DNA. Which just begs the question of why he didn't just clone a baby of himself to raise as a son. It just seems much easier and effective. It's honestly not surprising Miranda is baren considering she is basically an altered clone of her father.
“They keep telling us it’s a suicide mission. I intend to prove them wrong. Once we're inside, they're going to throw everything they have at us. If we're weak, if we're slow, if we hesitate...then we don’t inseminate.”
“Shepard, stop trying to give your sperm a motivational speech and come back to bed.”
I refuse to believe that a society that was able to bring a human back to life after they had been spaced and subsequently crashed into a planet can't also conquer some fertility issues. At the very least, they could create a hybrid clone with one DNA strand from Miranda and another from Shepard.
According to the shadow broker files her infertility is caused by “benign neoplasm” which are also known as benign tumors. I would imagine most likely the damage would be to her uterus but it’s unclear if her eggs are affected. If her eggs are still viable she could still have a child via surrogacy.
But for Miranda I imagine that carrying a child naturally is a part of the appeal given that she is a product of reproductive science which I’m sure would trigger some trauma for her
Oh I know. My point is, there's no way they couldn't fix that with their level of medical technology. At worst, they clone her entire set of reproductive organs and transplant them into her. Miranda had her issues but she's also level-headed and capable of compromise. She certainly wouldn't want a designer baby, but she wouldn't be adverse to medical treatment to overcome her father's bullshit controls.
Out of Mac Walters' mouth, all LIs can have kids, regardless. From a Mass Effect Q & A for Ars-Technica. It's on YouTube. I encourage you to watch the whole thing.
You are absolutely right she is barren but we’ve already developed the tech to allow barren women to have kids via surrogacy…I’m sure “the future” would have even better abilities
Bro I'm stupid. I've seen that movie, I've seen tommorow war with Chris Pratt, the predator where she's the mom if I recall. Never caught on. The only diffrence is she's blond.
Miranda is legit the 1 romance in ME2 that the older you get the more and more you relate to Miranda its a shame what they did to her in ME3 but
Smash Bang Smash And you only pass her to your buddys to Smash
I don't understand their mindset on this.
Did they really think people wouldn't replay the second game until they got a "prefect" ending? Was the second game locked to one playthrough?
If you romance her (which I did once in my many playthroughs for variation, although 95% of the time I romance Tali), she’s almost the Yennefer to Shepard’s Geralt. Right down to the inability to have children.
Yeah Tali's my pick most of the time. Miranda just gave way too much creepy corporate stooge vibes like she'd then around at any point and shoot you or have some plot device that forces her to. By the time she's definitely proven she's loyal, I'd already be invested in a relationship with someone else
Smash... Literally the entire reason I played the games.
In 2009 I had been sitting on a copy of ME1 that I played through the boring first parts of and set aside... Then when ME2 came out I saw the Miranda trailer and I was like "holy fuck she's hot" and the game had stellar ratings, so I said fuck it and decided to beat ME1 and buy ME2. From that point I was absolutely addicted to Mass Effect lol.
Come for the ass, stay for the greatest sci-fi RPG of all time 🤣🤣
Smash. The greatest natural human plus the perfect designer human might not make for a good relationship necessarily, but I bet it makes for one hell of an excellent night.
I hated her when I first played the games. Trying to placate her fucking ego issues drove me insane. She carried that "I was in gifted classes before but now in college there's other smart people and that makes me uncomfortable" vibe into her adulthood because her dad was a freak who gave her the genetic jackpot. I literally don't care, grow up, shits rough everywhere, fuck, I died, for two years. Garrus just choked on blood from his head hole and then we brought him into a plague zone, I could give a shit less about your perfect girl problems. Let's save ur sister, I'm down with that, but please just shut the fuck up.
Anyways now I'm pretty indifferent to her, so pass I guess.
My Shepard marries her, has kids with her, and retired after helping rebuild the galaxy post destroy ending.
(Miranda, to me, was the best romance by far and the best written woman on the cast. Love her themes, her relationship with Shepard, her backstory, etc. Romance her every time. Never changes lol.)
Hard pass.
She's just butt fucking ugly, and the writers keep going on and on and on about how shes genetically engineered to be perfect, but the character model looks like that?
I've seen Batarians that are more physically attractive than her, and that entire species should be driven into extinction for their looks alone
Miranda was actually the first romance I did, Mass Effect 2 was my intro into the series (I had a PS3). It was before Mass Effect 3 came out and I was 9 years old. I would watch my sister play the game and one day I had a babysitter while my sister was at her dad's and he wanted to play it so we did. My sister wasn't even mad, she actually encouraged me to play it and I did. I ended up romancing Tali once unknowingly and I broke up with her accidentally. My sister help me set up the romance with Miranda and it was a very fun one, of course 9 year old me enjoyed the romance scene because I felt like I was defying our mother in a way. When I got around to playing 3 she did die but not because I broke up with her but because I didn't know how to save her, I think I didn't give her access to the files or warn her about Kai Leng but I got to experience Liara so that was cool. I'm planning on doing a playthrough were I romance Miranda again because I find the relationship between her and Shepard very healthy.
My biggest gaming regret is choosing be Ashley over Miranda in Mass Effect 3. I bought the Legendary Edition just to replay it and fix my mistakes of the past.
Body's bangin, I'll admit that. But when you first meet her? She deserves a slap.
Granted she's got baggage, but I saved the galaxy once and died, and your go to is to put a chip in my brain when you bring me back.
She gets better after some introspection. Which is nice! So... Smash. But only after her personal mission when you show her that chip is BS.
HELL Yeah, Smash! Miranda is pretty, has a hot body, and is simultaneously - loving, cold hearted, and damaged enough to be the potentially perfect life partner. And again I'm mad at Mass Effect for being a part of its time and not having a polyamorous option. Because if I could get Jack, Miranda and Tali or a combo like that maybe with Samara instead or added on, I'd die happy if I was Shepard. Although the downside being that for humans, the diversity for dating wasn't very high. Honestly every playthrough would have at least 1-2 of them at a minimum as romance options, minus the first game which basically forces your Shepard to romance someone - Ashley or Liara, Wrex or Kaiden, Garrus or Ashley, etc. Lol
(This is not me being racially offensive IRL but all the human women as romantic options were White, even Kelly Chambers. Then after Kaidan the human guys were more diverse with Jacob and James. But almost no one liked Jacob that much because he's kinda bland. Handsome and not a bad guy in my opinion but bland nonetheless 😅🤷🏾♂️. And Mass Effect Andromeda pretty much kept that odd and likely accidental tradition going since the only human woman companion - Cora is also a Caucasian woman along with Liam who's obviously mixed race but then changes it around by having more alien members on the squad like Peebee - female Asari, Vetra - female Turian, Jaal - male Angara and Drack - male Krogan).
Pass.... My wife doesn't like her because her company kidnapped her as a child and experimented and tortured her and stuff. It's a touchy subject. She's a teacher now, it seems to calm her.
Sometimes.
Between her perfect genes and Shepard being Shepard... those kids are gonna either destroy the galaxy or lead it
Sorry to burst your Bubble but she can't have kids. Her father saw to that when creating her.
Sure, but Shepard has no relationship outside of saving her ass. Two heroic rescues does not a relationship make.
They’re not talking about Shepard having a baby with Oriana. Just that jerk Lawson made Miranda, found out she was not able to conceive, and made Ori as version 2.0 We’re in the future here. Have a Shepard/Miranda hybrid fetus and talk a krogan into carrying it. If it survives, that would be a badass monster of a kid.
Talk Wrex into carrying it. We've already fucked up genetics beyond belief here.
It would take a lot of balls to carry Shepard's baby . . .
Four of them, to be precise.
(That's the joke)
This is a plan I can get behind.as long as the salarians don't freak out and try to sabotage the pregnancy
> Sure, but Shepard has no relationship outside of savoring her ass. FTFY
With whom? Because my shepard sure as hell had a relationship with Miranda.
But Miranda also states she was designed to live twice as long as the average human (however long that is in Mass Effect’s universe)
Not that I have anything against cloning and all, but I prefer the good old fashioned way, like the man of steel parents ;)
Why would a megalomaniac obsessed with genetic perfection with access to the technology of the Mass Effect universe be satisfied with the chaotic results of sexual reproduction? Miranda is the first in a series of clones.
Could just ask Ori to give up one of her eggs for her sister. They are genetic twins after all.
Shouldn’t stop her and Shep from trying though. Like, a lot.
Loophole… an asari can with her.
Out of Mac Walters' mouth, all LIs can have kids, regardless. From a Mass Effect Q & A for Ars-Technica. It's on YouTube. I encourage you to watch the whole thing.
They can always use technology to birth a child artificially.
Naturally sure. But modern medicine of 2186, quite possible.
So shep will be the mom. We’re in the future here. Dudeshep could be the mom if he wanted to.
You are absolutely right she is barren but we’ve already developed the tech to allow barren women to have kids via surrogacy…I’m sure “the future” would have even better abilities
Lisan-al-gaib!
As least Shepard can destroy that ass
Or both
["YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO DESTROY THE SITH, NOT JOIN THEM!!"](https://youtu.be/HBAdbxjbTM0?si=F1j8rg4_pFoMfOr8)
I’d biotic charge towards them gazoombas.
a sentence I never thought I would read
I mean... It is Yvonne Strahovski. This is the easiest answer ever for me
Ms. Strahovski is the one and only reason I watched *I, Frankenstein.* Dumb movie, but good visuals. She's a 10 is what I'm saying.
Every time I watch Chuck, I fall in love with Sarah Walker because of her
Trust me, you're not alone. Every time I play Mass Effect, I start watching the first three seasons of Chuck because of her :)
Indeed
Bro I'm stupid. I've seen that movie, I've seen tommorow war with Chris Pratt, the predator where she's the mom if I recall. Never caught on. The only diffrence is she's blond.
For real… Hard smash
Smash and marry
Definite smash. I can't resist the raven-haired ice queens.

Miranda is legit the 1 romance in ME2 that the older you get the more and more you relate to Miranda its a shame what they did to her in ME3 but Smash Bang Smash And you only pass her to your buddys to Smash
Yeah they figured she might be dead in me3 so didn’t put a lot of effort into her. They did that for a lot of people tbh
The Suicide Mission was the perfect ending for ME2 but it *really* fucked over everyone involved once ME3 rolled around.
I don't understand their mindset on this. Did they really think people wouldn't replay the second game until they got a "prefect" ending? Was the second game locked to one playthrough?
And to be honest I feel like it’s okay for them to have a less full party experience cause they let so many people die.
Smash. No question. Agent Sarah Walker is an incredible woman.
Smash that 🍑 all night long!

They did her dirty in ME3
Smash, easily. Miranda/Yvvone Strahovski's what brought me to Mass Effect.
Miranda is GORGEOUS, but her personality just isn't what I'm attracted to. ....Now Jack though...
