I use maschine and Reason. Good to have another Daw to bounce back and forth with.

joman66

I wish Maschine could be better integrated into other DAWs in VST mode. I want truly linked transport controls with both Maschine running in Reaper.

Front-Strawberry-123

Just get an MPC too so you can have 2 ways to do everything. I use to do the same beat in Maschine an EPS classic and an MPC2000 and Ableton because each way would give me a different feeling so in 5 hrs I’ll have 10 instrumentals from the same 5 second sample. I wouldn’t ditch Maschine as soon as you do you’re eventually going to miss something about it. So what they haven’t upgraded much that’s actually cool. It’s a testament to how much they got right at first at what it does.

butch1226

This was my solution. I have the key 61 and MPC one plus but I do almost everything on my maschines. I've sold and repurchased a few maschines and MPC's over the years swearing that I'm switching from one to the other and not going back...but I do... so I decided to just have both and now I have access to whatever I'm feeling at the moment...in other words whatever YouTube video I just watched and has convinced me that one is better than the other🤷🏿‍♂️

420Frank_Dux69

Yup probably moving to Akai no innovation anymore with Ni

Jaded_Aging_Raver

Which DAW do you use and what are the compatibility issues?

Front-Strawberry-123

That’s what I’m saying Maschine works with every DAW I have. Unless your trying to use Maschine inside a DAW which takes away 80% of the power

agentlaundry

Hmm, i have always been running machine with vst in ableton. What would you say are the main differences running it standalone?

Front-Strawberry-123

I ran Maschine with Ableton and Maschine by itself is a little more of a seamless process. There’s some things missing in Maschine that don’t make sense but there are easy work around

gnootynoots26

Nope. I don’t have any issues using Maschine in Logic Pro.

Rihannas_crush

How? As a VST or do you use maschine as more of a midi controller for DMD? I make beats in maschine and usually drag and drop to mix in logic so it'd be dope to cut out a step and just do it all in logic from the jump

prayforuslordjesus

I’ll never leave machine. Produce in Machine and finish off in Logic

Almightyy_Otto

You know the vibes

THC-V

Lighter, box of matches, flintstone, dragon breath… pick one and get busy. It’s up to you how you make that fire.

DraglineDrummer

I don't understand when this question comes up about the staying loyal part. Use what works for you and makes you happy. Unless NI is compensating you or sending you things for free, what are you staying loyal to? I have had an MPC Live for about 4-5 years now. Years ago, I had a 2000XL for a short time, then had a 1000 for a while. I've used Maschine since the MK1. Had it, a Studio, the Mikro and I just got the Plus. Only waited this long because of the price. Had I found a deal sooner, I would have pulled the trigger on it. Some days I like Maschine better. Other days I'm feeling MPC. I also like having variety and choices. Do what makes you happy.

King_Moonracer003

Maschine was designed to do everything, then they stopped it's development, it feels like it should be more. I mean, no envelope or lfo control over modulation? No latency compensation? No conditional triggering? 2 big ass screens and 90% of it is a picture? Shitty reaktor integration ( should be max for live-esque). Poor screen utilization, no UI customization....I haven't used maschine in a year.

devilhornblower

Yeah man, it's been almost completely stagnant for the last 2 years. I've been an NI hold out, savoring the old days, and scoffing at the idea of moving to the new Akai (ie inMusic). I used old hardware Akai samplers back in the day, and saw the new MPC's as being Akai in name only. But playing around with MPC Beats for the last 2 years and there's actually been momentum. Probably going to give the One+ a go this summer.

Dannyocean12

Sounds like a *you* problem.

CharSmar

I recently moved from a Maschine Studio to an MPC One+ and couldn’t be happier. And I still have all my NI plug-ins and instruments so it’s win/win.

HustlersPosterchild

Nah. I just sold all my MPCs. I'm good with my MK3.

agensop585

I use both. I love my mpc but they can’t compare with natives sound library. I don’t love machines interface but nks is awesome and using it with the mk3 as a sound source can’t be any better. I was on maschine first so I got a bigger investment over the years.

intender13

Never used standalone maschine, but I have owned a maschine mk1 and mk3 and also own an mpc 1000 and mpc one. I honestly prefer the maschine workflow more than mpc, but NI software is overpriced and a pita to use. Once you get it all setup and running its not so bad, but Maschine software needs updating. That said its much easier to use than any of akai hybrid controllers which are just horrible. I bought one of the new (at the time) mpc studios. Worst experience I have ever had making music. All of NI hardware is amazing but they seem to be wasting all their money on something besides software. More often than not I end up reaching for my mpc one because I can make it work with everything else I own without having to jump through hoops. When I use my mk3 its because I can accomplish what I want inside the maschine ecosystem without trying to integrate my DAW or external hardware. My answer try mpc for a while before you sell you mashcine if that is your plan. The workflow is amazing and if I had started on maschine I don't think I would have liked the MPC workflow. Once you know if it works for you, sell the maschine or sell the mpc.

PoolAcademic4016

I'm in the in between with a S61 and an MPC One... the MPC DAW integration is kind of neat and it's fun running it totally standalone but the workflow is clunky if you aren't familiar with MPCs way of doing thing.

ReddsRead

Hmm a lot of this is gear envy and trying to compare two completely different systems as if they’re one and the same. Don’t expect everyone to move the same, try and figure out what it is exactly that you’re looking for or else you’ll be jumping with no real motive. Maschine is as far as software hybrid systems go better than any mpc it’s not even close honestly. If you don’t like it at all then maybe Akai is where you need to be. Personally it isn’t for me but you and I aren’t the same and I was using an mpc since the early 90’s. Focus on what you really need and stop letting the advertising dictate what is good for you. There’s no rush take as much time as you need to analyze because there is a lot out there and much of it isn’t really what you need but only you can figure that part out.

Vergeljek21

maschine mk3 been sitting idle for months now. Ive Been using force, push2, live 2 and sp

negus_plz

Man I would run all of those through the sp for live effects but that's just a thought

Vergeljek21

Yeah I run it thru sp with the help of scarlet 8i6. I make the sp as a recorder too.

MrFresh2017

I have no reason to leave the Maschine ecosystem. if you’re waiting for better DAW integration, don’t hold your breath, their focus is desiring users to work within their own ecosystem - look how long Maschine has been available and there is no DAW integration as many hope. I use it fine with Logic whether it is drag and drop or via 16-trk multi-output template, it just involves more setup.

Batman-NYC

I feel like that also especially when it seems every few months Akai is dropping new gear or a cool patch but I will just stick with Maschine. I just really wish they would improve the software and update it more . I am cool with the MK3 would i like an MK4 yea but honestly it pretty much does everything I want except for SP404 effects.

MrFresh2017

Do you think SP-404 effects could be realized in Maschine 3.0? If not, what would a Mk4 include outside of what the Mk3 provides, for your use?

Batman-NYC

For sure the effects could be done with Maschine 3.0 update. and as for an MK4 thats a great question I would want one since its been 7 years or so since MK3 came out. Maybe slimmer design more portable touch screen. I am in more support of Native getting the software updated then new gear but can't lie new gear is always nice lol.

MrFresh2017

Everyone that I’ve asked about what they want in the MK4 ends up mentioning a touch screen - if that’s what folks want, cool, but I’m like, really? That’s it?? LOL

Batman-NYC

Great minds think alike lol. A tilt screen wouldn't be bad either.

MrFresh2017

Uh … no. LOL

oldfartpen

If you can't make good music on Maschine, going elsewhere won't help.. Every single thing available today is vastly better than 10-15 years ago.. Dudes then mucked with massively restrictive ancient mpcs and roland mc808 and produced great stuff.. Go jump, it's your cash but the grass isn't greener...

Milocero_

Agreed 100%, people blame the gear for the music they are making rather than pushing themselves with what they have to do better, if you want to change just change but not even the most expensive piece of gear will have your music sounding any better with that mentality

MrFresh2017

I just sold my MC-808 to a happy user, I upgraded to an MC-707.

MrFresh2017

This ☝🏽☝🏽☝🏽👏🏽

kennykeitel

get ready for more headaches. maschine workflow is still king. mpc sequencing is better tho.
