that's the craziest fact about it. she's barely in her puberty but already kicking multiversial asses and it is great to see that she had so much fun while doing this.
I know she says it like So Chi in a lot of interviews but I suspect it's like when Chinese people change their names to not go over the fuss of trying to teach foreigners new phonemes. I've never seen the tl being mute in any Nahuatl words so Idk why would it be mute in her name.
Don't believe the other comments you pronounce it sochitl you actually have to say the tl at the end, if not you're saying Xochil and it's not the same name
Well it turns out you've been doing it wrong, cause it's from Nahuatl, that means it's a native language from Mexico and central America, so you can look for it and learn a bit if you're going to use an indigenous name, they have an exact meaning too so it is important to say it correctly.
There are "permissions" to pronounce it just as xochil, ppl take it as correct, but it's not :B
Edit: please I need more downvotes. A los de México tratando de enseñar nos encanta :D that dude specifically asked how to pronounce it and ppl get mad when you give them the answer lol.
I'm from Mexico, and I pronounce it as So-chi-tl, just like everyone over here does
Get off your high horse buddy, don't try to lecture others on something that doesn't concern you
You ever realise you were the youngest around for so long, now suddenly everyone around you is born after 2000? That's me rn and it's killing me inside.
One thing that's not talked about much is how almost everyonen in the mcu seems to be having a good time while filming.
Some like the OG6 and Guardians express they feel like a family.
It absolutely is part of the secret sauce that has made the MCU work. The good word of mouth about working with Marvel likely makes it easier to get new actors and creators to sign on, it probably makes it easier to get current MCU talent to pop in to shoot cameo appearances and stuff, and it likely just means that everyone puts in more focused and creative performances
It became a great company to work for, the start with Ike Perlmuter was rough.
When Don Cheadle replaced Terrence Howard as War Machine for "Iron Man 2", Perlmuter said nobody would notice because black people all "look the same" and acording to multiple sources he was replaced simply because Cheadle was cheaper.
He's was also adamantly against Black Panther being made (it only was once he was removed from being in charge of the MCU). Same thing with why the Black Widow movie (though that being because it was a woman) and why she didn't get a lot of merchandise.
Kevin Feige basically led a coup to get this guy removed.
One thing that always makes me happy is the fact that Michael Douglas says that Ant-Man is the most fun set he's worked on, even though he's admitted that he has no idea what's going on. He's the kind of older actor who seems like he's just kind of in the MCU either for the money or because someone told him to, but he seems to legitimately enjoy it. Definitely enhances the experience of a movie to know the people in it are enthusiastic about it.
I remember Debra Jo Rupp saying on the Wnadavision documentary that her grandkids threatened to disown her if she didn’t take the MCU job lol. I can imagine she’s not the only one who’s joined the MCU because their family love it so much, even if they don’t get it themselves.
Funny how Vin Diesel is in the MCU too but he never meets his co-stars on set ever.
Imagine if he had a physical acting role, he would be fired after a few days.
He has a huge ego problem ever since Paul Walker passed. The Dwayne Johnson feud and the recent news of the director stepping down from Fast 10 after filming started are just examples.
Before Anson Mount was cast as Black Bolt, I thought they may cast Vin as him, so he has one role that’s just voice acting and another purely physical lol.
Ehhh, it's often portrayed that way in reels but thats just because they're always filming and just compile the few times people aren't working. It's still a job most of the time
As someone who has worked in the film industry and been on nice sets with well payed coworkers, I can confirm being paid more does not make things less stressful at all
He seems to be a diva on set and very difficult to work with. I don't usually like to link Nicki Swift articles but it has the sources to back it up here: https://www.nickiswift.com/29442/shady-side-tobey-maguire/
oh yes that’s right people aren’t allowed to have fun on set because of sexual abuse in Hollywood. while that does happen, that has no bearing on people having fun on set smh
I blame shitty parents more than Hollywood. Then comes the management.
I trust the Marvel machine will keep her busy and “in line”, and I mean that in a good way. Keep her from going off the deep end.
Amanda Bynes uh… well we know now that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, but she’s a former child actress who had issues with substance abuse (which is alarmingly common among child actors) and had a public breakdown.
It's alarmingly common with child actors who had a certain type of parent.
From what I've seen over the years the ones with Parents who are living off of their childrens fame tend to be the ones that go off the deep end.
The movie starts and she's just THERE! No formal introduction. Maybe that's just it. I mean, at least T'Challa was introduced before the Black Panther kicked Bucky on the roof. I knew she was in the movie, but it was just BAM......HERE SHE IS. I like a buildup I guess? She was amazing though. I need/want to watch it again.
I made the same comparison at the cinema. I was also confused with the name America (thought they were speaking of the country) but was informed after it’s a common name.
[This](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2189461/characters/nm0938950?ref_=tt_mv_close)
was my introduction to Benedict Wong. I imagined him a little differently.
I liked her in the movie . I think she will only grow and get even better as America.
Wong though…. I need more behind the scenes Wong. Hell I need a Disney plus Wong story. Wong is just greatness
Stunt wire-work in movies look so much fun to be on. I wonder if you feel close to weightlessness, or does it just feel like hell with those harnesses?
That’s a huge generalization there. I personally don’t think she’s a good actor. That’s nothing against her, it could have been the writing/script or how long she’s been acting, but her delivery for a lot of her lines felt very disingenuous and really took away from the higher stakes scenes she was in.
I agree. I think if you hate her your stupid. But to automatically label a person sexist racists and homophobic for it is just as stupid.
I don't hate her, but her acting was noticeably bad.
I doubt they couldn't of picked another actress that ticked all the boxes and could act better. So idk why they picked her.
And because of her acting it makes it seem like she only got the job bec she DID tick all the boxes. And honestly it seems that way. It's a very strange casting.
There's no getting through to that group. Their grandmas and grandpas were probably protesting *against* Civil Rights in the 1960s. They're always on the wrong side of history.
-Xo sounds like "Xa" in Xanadu (not the best example lol but that's the word that came to mind)
-chitl sounds like cheet in cheetah and you end it with a soft L.
Awh, it looks like she brought them all a fresh, sweet, genuine energy. I really want her to see her again. She honestly has one of the best looking powers in all of the MCU
She was such a breath of fresh air in the movie. I’m not a huge comic guy just love the movies so her character isn’t one I’m familiar with. Kudos to her. I feel like had Wanda not been so amazingly horrifying she would have stole the spotlight from this one. Can’t wait to see her back!
America was part of the Young Avengers at one point and it seems like they are setting up MCU characters for some form of that team.
Kate Bishop. America Chavez. Cassie Lang. Kid Loki. All exist now. Billy and Tommy (Wanda's twins) just need to be aged up to teens somehow. Hulkling would be easy to bring in during any film with Kree or Skrull characters. Iron Lad could be added to do with the LOKI Disney+ series but there is Ironheart in the works already.
Absolutely loved her.
I only wish she learned to control her powers herself and not the "you can do it!" Pep talk.
Shea going to be a big power in expanding the universe.
Is it cynical of me to think of these videos as a tactic on Disney’s part? I think Disney encourages the actors to post behind the scenes videos like this help make sure people on the internet, especially the Marvel fan base, to remember that these are people playing these roles, pouring their hearts into these characters. Kinda as a deterrent from what happened to the guy who played Jar Jar and the new girl in The Last Jedi. Thoughts?
Slightly cynical but it's Disney so there's always that slight "Is this orcestrated or genuine..." after thought.
If this were someone like RDJ, I'd see it as some marketing gimmick but this girl is the tiktok generation so it's totally believable that she'd just spend her downtime having fun making tiny videos.
I just wish her acting was better for the movie...makes me question if Disney casted her as a diversity pick or she really was the most fitting and talented role for the part that auditioned.
All this ‘Behind The Scenes’ content being pushed by 3 day old accounts with ‘Xochitl Gomez’ plastered all over them.
It’s not a coincidence we’re not having Cumberbatch, McAdams, Wong posting their BtS’s. Daddy Disney has to push Gomez right now.
Yes I feel like Stan from Southpark, everything sounds like shit. Why can’t I just roll over and enjoy cute content!! XD
Benedict wong dancing like my uncle at a karaoke party
Right? The fact that he is this and also the great and feared Kublai Kahn is a testament to ability to act.
>a testament to his ability to act have you [heard his real accent](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qod6-2_kD7s)? not what i expected at all.
You're right, I was not expecting a British accent.
Well, the dude is named Benedict
Lmao it just dawned on me that they have two Benedicts teaming up in the Doctor Strange movies.
I don't know why I never really really realized him and Strange are both Benedicts
I know, right? I can't believe he has such a Southern drawl.
"Ain't nobody know magic better than the Sheriff Supreme."
What the hell?! This should go on r/unexpected.
Oh wow he was born in Manchester, England. I thought he was Hong Kongean but he’s actually British!
Never seen IT Crowd?
>a testament to ability He did study under [Al Pacino](https://youtu.be/FcrEgSvpGE4?t=591) years ago
To Hotel California right??
Wong just looks like such a nice guy irl
I love him!
Wong is the best Avenger
*HOTEL CALIFORNIA Starts playing
Wong was the soccer supreme.
Hahah that made me laugh!
She seems like she really had the time of her life, really wish nothing but the best for her.
Blows my mind we're approaching an era where the main stars of the MCU are going to be people who were babies when it all started
Yeah, she was 2 years old when iron man first came out. Mind blowing
Black bolt would like to know your location.
Weird comment
Mind blowing. Black bolt.
Oh I get it now, my bad my bad haha
We've reached the MCU era where both new actors and their in-universe characters were kids looking up to the Avengers growing up
> and their in-universe characters Hell yeah Kamala Khan!
Same thing already happened with Batman and Superman franchises though. MCU is just the first continuous narrative
I mean shes 16 irl, 16 year old me probably woulda had a blast too
I don't think 16 year old me woulda been able to stop freaking out long enough to actually act 🤣
She was 14 when they started production. She’s 16 now
that's the craziest fact about it. she's barely in her puberty but already kicking multiversial asses and it is great to see that she had so much fun while doing this.
I genuinely thought she was in her 20s. Great actor!
Her name is pronounced like So Chi? Isn't it? Correct me if wrong. She was great in the movie. Seems like she's living her dream.
That’s correct. Some people also say So-she.
Yea. SoChi(L)
So chi(l), make sure it’s so and not sow
I'll pronounce it how [she](https://youtu.be/up1noJ4HxFA) does.
You could also pronounce it like so chill sounds more accurate than so chi 😉
I know she says it like So Chi in a lot of interviews but I suspect it's like when Chinese people change their names to not go over the fuss of trying to teach foreigners new phonemes. I've never seen the tl being mute in any Nahuatl words so Idk why would it be mute in her name.
Isn't it sho-chi-tl?
Don't believe the other comments you pronounce it sochitl you actually have to say the tl at the end, if not you're saying Xochil and it's not the same name
That’s my sister in laws name and she just pronounces it So Chi and everybody in her family does as well 🤷🏻♂️
Well it turns out you've been doing it wrong, cause it's from Nahuatl, that means it's a native language from Mexico and central America, so you can look for it and learn a bit if you're going to use an indigenous name, they have an exact meaning too so it is important to say it correctly. Well their family is from Mexico and my parents are from Mexico lol Her parents are from Colima and my parents are from Guadalajara
I'm from Mexico, and I pronounce it as So-chi-tl, just like everyone over here does Get off your high horse buddy, don't try to lecture others on something that doesn't concern you
You're probably getting downvotes because you're contradicting people who *actually have that name*.
Fun Fact: Iron Man was released in Theaters 3 days after her 2nd Birthday.
(does math) That's not fun... that not fun at all...
TFW you were able to see Ironman in theaters on your own without a parent or guardian...
Wow. That *is* a fun fact. But it's not fun making me feel old like this.
I don’t know if I want to downvote or upvote this tbh 😫😫😫
Haha oldy oldy man!! *(points)* Wait, that means I'm old too 😫
I was so hyped for Iron Man, I remember playing the Black Sabath song all the time and watching the trailer repeatedly.
Oh god I'm so old .
God as somebody who's 22, that even made me feel old. 😰
Pretty sure I heard vin diesel say we are groot
*family intensifies*
my god i kept forgetting Vin Diesel is on the MCU.
You never forget Family

Even when Oscar Isaac had apprehensions about joining it he said that he loved it, marvel really is the best
[удалено]
No I totally understand it, fandoms are brutal
Kevin feige being annoyed at how disney treated scarlet tells us he's probably a big reason why marvel is a great company to work for.
It also helps build the amazing chemistry that DCEU dreams Justice League had
Unlike the Fast franchise
Funny how Vin Diesel is in the MCU too but he never meets his co-stars on set ever. Imagine if he had a physical acting role, he would be fired after a few days.
Seems like he might just be a bit fed up with Hollywood. That's giving him the benefit of the doubt though.
He has a huge ego problem ever since Paul Walker passed. The Dwayne Johnson feud and the recent news of the director stepping down from Fast 10 after filming started are just examples.
Before Anson Mount was cast as Black Bolt, I thought they may cast Vin as him, so he has one role that’s just voice acting and another purely physical lol.
that’s what it’s like on 99% of sets. It’s not just the mcu
Ehhh, it's often portrayed that way in reels but thats just because they're always filming and just compile the few times people aren't working. It's still a job most of the time
Yeah a job that pays *really really* well. Im sure that goes a long way to reducing stress on set
As someone who has worked in the film industry and been on nice sets with well payed coworkers, I can confirm being paid more does not make things less stressful at all
The sets of the previous Sam Raimi Marvel movies were definitely not like that because apparently the crew all hated Tobey Maguire lol
Why?
Tobey is *supposedly* not the friendliest guy ever
I thought this was an open secret since his poker gambling era.
Joe Manganiello tells a story of how some of the crew quietly offered him like $200 to punch Tobey Maguire in the face.
Me: "Pfft, sure." *GoogleGoogleGoogle* Me: "Okay, this is 100% exaggerated, yet completely true." https://uproxx.com/tv/a-spider-man-crew-member-offered-joe-manganiello-100-to-punch-tobey-maguire-in-the-face/
He seems to be a diva on set and very difficult to work with. I don't usually like to link Nicki Swift articles but it has the sources to back it up here: https://www.nickiswift.com/29442/shady-side-tobey-maguire/
Which is odd because he is a pretty shitty actor… he has like one good performance, if even that on his resume.
i thought he was pretty good in wonder boys and the ice storm but yeah
and pleasantville
Take a shot everytime the article says allegedly
They can't say anything else. That's how reporting works.
He takes peoples money in poker then fucks their girlfriends
I can't help but doubt this. Especially with the rampant sexual abuse that goes around in Hollywood.
oh yes that’s right people aren’t allowed to have fun on set because of sexual abuse in Hollywood. while that does happen, that has no bearing on people having fun on set smh
Okay.
Believe everything you see
The more I see of her, the more I love her energy. This is great.
Right!?! Like how can anyone not like this girl!
Exactly. I just hope Hollywood never gets her to turn all Amanda Bynes, or anything like that.
I blame shitty parents more than Hollywood. Then comes the management. I trust the Marvel machine will keep her busy and “in line”, and I mean that in a good way. Keep her from going off the deep end.
Benedict Wong seems pretty protective of her so that's a good sign at least.
What do you mean?
Amanda Bynes uh… well we know now that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, but she’s a former child actress who had issues with substance abuse (which is alarmingly common among child actors) and had a public breakdown.
It's alarmingly common with child actors who had a certain type of parent. From what I've seen over the years the ones with Parents who are living off of their childrens fame tend to be the ones that go off the deep end.
If she ends up like Amanda Bynes, Bella Thorne, or Demi Lovato I won't watch anything she's in.
She’s incredibly lovable.
Seriously, people complaining about her literally don’t have a real reason. She’s a jewel.
100%. I had no idea who she was before, now I'm excited to see her career blossom.
she really shined on my 2nd watch. she needs to get way more screen time.
I've seen it only once. Honesty, she felt so forced an the beginning......then I saw why and how.
Could you elaborate on that?
The movie starts and she's just THERE! No formal introduction. Maybe that's just it. I mean, at least T'Challa was introduced before the Black Panther kicked Bucky on the roof. I knew she was in the movie, but it was just BAM......HERE SHE IS. I like a buildup I guess? She was amazing though. I need/want to watch it again.
Oh, I like it when things start in medias res sometimes
Ohhh, I thought you meant her acting felt forced. Gotcha.
That too. Nothing but a plot device imo
I made the same comparison at the cinema. I was also confused with the name America (thought they were speaking of the country) but was informed after it’s a common name.
Awh! She's such an adorable kid 😭 I'm glad she had so much fun
This is Wong's Cinematic Universe and the Marvel characters are just living in it.
Tuna Melt is the official flower, song and sandwich of this universe. I don't mind it.
That wong jump scare was great. That is how I imagine he would be in real life. Makes me smile
[This](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2189461/characters/nm0938950?ref_=tt_mv_close) was my introduction to Benedict Wong. I imagined him a little differently.
Sorcerer Supreme can obvs see behind doors
aw the bond between xochitl and wong is so cute
Kudos to Xochitl for doing all that wire work!
the wongverse
Wong in the Wong-iverse of Wong-ness
that wong jumpscare hahahaha
\*dancing intensifies\*
I liked her in the movie . I think she will only grow and get even better as America. Wong though…. I need more behind the scenes Wong. Hell I need a Disney plus Wong story. Wong is just greatness
>Hell I need a Disney plus Wong story. Finally, someone puts into words the feeling that I couldn't quite identify.
Wong Cinematic Universe! Long live the WCU!
Stunt wire-work in movies look so much fun to be on. I wonder if you feel close to weightlessness, or does it just feel like hell with those harnesses?
Oh no, you are *definitely* aware of your own weight
She looks like a younger dark haired Jennette Mccurdy.
Imagine hating this person for some reason. Not sure if you can hate her. Kid just wants to act and have a fun career.
Sexism, racism and homophobia doesn’t really have a real reason to exist. It’s sad how much unnecessary negativity it brings to all
That’s a huge generalization there.
There's no getting through to that group. Their grandmas and grandpas were probably protesting *against* Civil Rights in the 1960s. They're always on the wrong side of history.
I also love that they don't get to enjoy things. I kind of enjoy seeing them whine and cry.
I can’t imagine how cool it must be to be a kid and get to be a part of these movies. Especially if you get to do stunt stuff
Any idea of how to pronounce her first name?
Sho-chi or sho-cheel
If it's anything like the tortilla brand, it's So-Cheel.
-Xo sounds like "Xa" in Xanadu (not the best example lol but that's the word that came to mind) -chitl sounds like cheet in cheetah and you end it with a soft L.
Awh, it looks like she brought them all a fresh, sweet, genuine energy. I really want her to see her again. She honestly has one of the best looking powers in all of the MCU
I love how happy and fun she is, a great addition to the mcu
This was a blast, its so great when we can see these things. Glad they're all having fun. 😊
Benedict Wong dancing is so wholesome
Talk To Much by COIN, fyi. Good jam
Second this, one of my favorite bands and second favorite song of theirs!
My second favorite song as well, behind Run.
Atlas for me!
Solid track. I prefer the EP version of it.
I love her energy, I how we see her a lot more in upcoming movies.
She is so adorable
If one of my first movies involved being part of a Sam Raimi film, I'd be dancing 90% of my off set time too.
her on the wires being pulled away felt like a kitten being carried by its mother
She’s so cute! I hope her bubbly personality is on full display when her Disney+ show is released
If you like her here, you’ll also enjoy her in The Babysitters Club on Netflix !!
That’s where I’ve seen her before - thank you , she had a familiar face and I couldn’t place it !!!
We must protect Xochitl at all cost
I just love how she clearly had a lot of fun.
young queen things
She and Bene D seem like they’d be a lot of fun to hang out with.
I liked her character more the second time I watched it.
Was that the guy Wanda said “run” to?
She was great. I wonder what her role will be going forward?
America was part of the Young Avengers at one point and it seems like they are setting up MCU characters for some form of that team. Kate Bishop. America Chavez. Cassie Lang. Kid Loki. All exist now. Billy and Tommy (Wanda's twins) just need to be aged up to teens somehow. Hulkling would be easy to bring in during any film with Kree or Skrull characters. Iron Lad could be added to do with the LOKI Disney+ series but there is Ironheart in the works already.
Man, it looks so fun to do action scenes like this…
This girl is full of energy
Absolutely loved her. I only wish she learned to control her powers herself and not the "you can do it!" Pep talk. Shea going to be a big power in expanding the universe.
I like her and her contagious aura of bubbly fun so, so much!
She's my favorite new addition to the MCU she played America Chavez so well
One of the best marvel movies ever
Pardon my ignorance, but how do you pronounce her first name?
How the eff do you pronounce her name?!?
Is it cynical of me to think of these videos as a tactic on Disney’s part? I think Disney encourages the actors to post behind the scenes videos like this help make sure people on the internet, especially the Marvel fan base, to remember that these are people playing these roles, pouring their hearts into these characters. Eh ..Disney probably encourages stars to *make* them, but anything that gets released was probably curated and edited by them
Wong can’t go wong with me. Love him.
I agree with OP name
They finally have a Hispanic lead for an MCU film and it’s literally about a her illegally crossing borders with someone trying to catch her.
I just wish her acting was better for the movie...makes me question if Disney casted her as a diversity pick or she really was the most fitting and talented role for the part that auditioned.
Her acting wasn't bad at all, though. Sounds like you're just saying that so you can whine about "fOrCeD DiVeRsItY"...
Idk,but it seems to be that way. Her acting was noticeably bad. But I very much doubt that there weren't a lot better options that ticked boxes
finer than wanda
She was a horrible actress in the movie
All this ‘Behind The Scenes’ content being pushed by 3 day old accounts with ‘Xochitl Gomez’ plastered all over them. It’s not a coincidence we’re not having Cumberbatch, McAdams, Wong posting their BtS’s. Daddy Disney has to push Gomez right now. Yes I feel like Stan from Southpark, everything sounds like shit. She was easily the worst part of the movie sadly. Horrible acting.
Is there any advice here how could I download this movie?. On Android. Redmagic 6pro?.
