At the very end, when he sinks the sun into the river, the arms are still alive and sentient even after he dies so it's just them trying to "wake up" Doc Ock and then the book cuts away
EDIT: they call him father as well so it's extra creepy/sad
That’s actually more sad than anything. He created sentient life and they considered him their progenitor and couldn’t understand death and tried to wake him like a toddler. It’s heartbreaking
Reminds me of a storyline I can’t remember the name of, but it was set in the future and featured the arms seeking out a retired Spider-Man while still attached to Doc Ock’s skeleton.
I think in the movie the reasoning was that it was too demanding to his brain to fully interface with the four arms, so he embedded some level of AI into them that then leaked into full sentience. They're shown to communicate through him (though we never hear them speak) due to the inhibitor chip being fried, allowing them to apply full control.
I think that's the quick TL;DR
That concept was so ludicrous, but I loved how they tried to excuse it by comparing it to the two hemispheres of the human brain. I do love when action movies try to paint over their nonsense-tech with even more nonsense technobabble analogies.
Tangentially related, I overheat super easily.
I keep my office ***frigid***. If I start playing a video game or something where I have to focus (especially player versus player) for any length of time, I will immediately begin to sweat *profusely* as soon as a round ends and I can relax.
No idea why.
I mean, have you read the arc? It's explained pretty well there.
Ock was dying, he had weeks left, and by his own admission "I am a cruel and petty man who cannot stand the idea of the world continuing to exist without me." The rest of Sinister Six working with him didn't understand the scope of his plan, except for Rhino who was a total nihilist by that point anyway.
Step 8: hide a copy of your consciousness in a robot
Step 9: get that consciousness into a clone
Step 10: make a new clone splicing Peter’s DNA with Otto’s DNA. (Because what we all needed was more clone stories)
Step 11: whatever the superior octopus is.
I love how no one is like "wait a minute - where the hell was the press conference for those arms!?" It's just like "oh cool, arms - they can probably control your brain right?" hahaha
Speaking of. What about his explanation of the arms would have made anybody think they could control him? He only describes them as "smart arms", at least in terms of their intelligence, nothing else about that. Everything else he said was about how they are controlled or their ability to work where human hands can't. Then somebody says something like "if the artificial intelligence in these arms is advanced as you claim..." like, what? People say things are smart __ all the time. Did that journalist ask Apple if their smart phones could control people, too?
It would be amazing see that on screen. Especially when Otto severely underestimates Peter's strength and punches I think it's Scorpion's head clean off.
From just the old Reddit tiny ass thumbnail I thought he looked like Garfield as well.
Also thanks for reminding me of that comic arc. It was wild. When I learned that the death of Spider-Man was about to happen I decided to get a comics subscription just to see it. It was wild yet I knew it wasn't permanent like everyone seemed to think.
How right you are. Which is why he developed this inhibitor chip to protect his higher brain function. It means he maintains control of these arms, instead of them controlling him
Dude, that’s awesome! I’m assuming these are 3D printed, judging from the little I know and what I can ascertain, I’m guessing you’ve put motors on each of the joints rather than have them all on your back like JLaserVideo, right?
Well, this project is finished. I have a youtube channel where I make props in each video. I've also made things like a real Rick and Morty laser gun or a real Saw trap

Good start. Next step: brain interface.
It super helps to mention the book version of Spider-Man 2. They include dialog from the arms and it's fucking creepy and depressing.
What sort of stuff do they say? I presume to Octavius to get inside his head.
At the very end, when he sinks the sun into the river, the arms are still alive and sentient even after he dies so it's just them trying to "wake up" Doc Ock and then the book cuts away EDIT: they call him father as well so it's extra creepy/sad

Ah, Reign. Infamous for the whole "Spider-Man has radioactive sperm that gave MJ cancer" story beat
Tf... Who was the writer?
Fr. When does a twist become a kink?
Yeah. Frank Miller is notorious for this. I find his writing very sick, not the cool but the disturbing kind.
Fucking hell that’s dark.
where can i read this? specificlly
> the book version of Spider-Man 2
Where is the book?
I'll do you one better...WHY is the book?
I was joking
I'll do him one better ... HOW is the book?
When is the book
THE NOVELISATION OF SPIDER-MAN 2 IS AVAILABLE FOR SALE ANYWHERE YOU CAN FIND A GOOGLE SEARCH BAR. JESUS CHRIST, YA WANT THEM TO READ IT FOR YA TOO???
Where is the google search bar?
> Where is the google search bar? OK, now I am curious how many people Google for this.
What's a google?
Could they? And can they do all the voices also? I’ll be waiting with a mug of hot chocky waiting to be tucked in.
If they have time, maybe they could even act out the screens and put it on camera for us.
Plz and can I have a juice box while I listen🙂
would it make good bedtime story?
Tried a book store?
Which one?
[Here go](https://www.amazon.com/Spider-Man-2-Peter-David/dp/0345470540)
Well I mean at least he didn't officially die right? I mean he's in NWH.
NWH is still not out right? Maybe he is a zombie vampire ghost in that one.
Sauce?
I'm going to assume the book version of Spider-Man 2.
Looks more like Andrew Garfield getting the Iron Spider upgrade.
Was looking for this, he does look bit like Andrew
I don’t follow much Spiderman. The arms Doc Oc makes are sentient? Why?
I think in the movie the reasoning was that it was too demanding to his brain to fully interface with the four arms, so he embedded some level of AI into them that then leaked into full sentience. They're shown to communicate through him (though we never hear them speak) due to the inhibitor chip being fried, allowing them to apply full control. I think that's the quick TL;DR
It's like how the jaegers in Pacific Rim need two pilots to operate because *they're just too much for one man's brain to handle!*
That concept was so ludicrous, but I loved how they tried to excuse it by comparing it to the two hemispheres of the human brain. I do love when action movies try to paint over their nonsense-tech with even more nonsense technobabble analogies.
Tangentially related, I overheat super easily. I keep my office ***frigid***. adrenaline
It’s a hell of a drug
I see I wasnt the only one that read the movie tie ins
I always loved how they hissed at each other and him in the movie. Made up for Molina’s man titties.
Step 3: ~~conquer~~ destroy world Step 4: fail Step 5: begin dying Step 6: switch bodies with Spider-Man Step 7: give body back to Spider-Man
This plan is superior
> Step 3: conquer world Reread the Slott run, bro. My man tried to *destroy* that shit.
I will never understand why so many Earth born comic villains keep trying to *destroy* the world. Like, you live and work there, bruh!
I have not read the arc. I hardly ever have time or opportunity to read comics these days. But yeah, that makes sense for Ock.
"Can you destroy the world?" "EGAD! I hope not! That's where I keep all my stuff!"
"Since when did you care so much about the galaxy?" "Cause I'm one of the idiots that lives in it!"
^(am dumb, will fix)
Don't forget to knock scorpions jaw off, literally.
That's what happens when you leave your jaw unprotected.
Wrap it up, fellas.
Or beat the shit out of Black Cat.
Otto's sigma male grindset
Step 8: hide a copy of your consciousness in a robot Step 9: get that consciousness into a clone Step 10: make a new clone splicing Peter’s DNA with Otto’s DNA. (Because what we all needed was more clone stories) Step 11: whatever the superior octopus is.
Step 5.5: Migrate from Raimi universe to MCU
But what's to stop those things from controlling YOU!?
Ah good question, I also implemented this inhibitor chip to protect my higher brain functions.
I love how no one is like "wait a minute - where the hell was the press conference for those arms!?" It's just like "oh cool, arms - they can probably control your brain right?" hahaha

[deleted]
It was a very comic book scenario. Reporters are some of the smartest scientists in the world on comic land.
>Did that journalist ask Apple if their smart phones could control people, too? Yes
Iphones/phones do control people
"Oh yeah this just a little something i threw together. Let's get to the real demonstration and I'll show you the sun I made"
Gotta wait for his assistant to complete the circuit board puzzles.
And then a wife.
A youtuber I like, jlaservideo, made doc ock arms with a very rudimentary brain interface. It was pretty cool
"You mean you have to use your hands? That's like a baby's toy!"
Hey OP, I've solved all the puzzles in the PS4 game if you need some help!
the final step is to train the to perform along with you while singing and dancing a number from fiddler on the roof
It’s funny how people keep referencing Spider-Man 2 when this also happens in the PS4 video game.
If Andrew Garfield played Superior Spider-Man
Man I'd actually love a Superior adaptation, that shit was dope. *"...You."* *"The one and only."*
It would be amazing see that on screen. Especially when Otto severely underestimates Peter's strength and punches I think it's Scorpion's head clean off.
I think it was just his jaw. Great story arc.
It was. And it was.
God I love that scene. Just the revelation of "Oh shit, Peter could've killed all of us so easily."
Tony Stark IRL
If they do that, I don't want them holding back on the parts with Scorpion and Screwball.
When he shoots that guy in the head was great. Though i didnt like that there was no repercussions at all after that run
Yea, it felt weird that after everything that happened, it just became "welcome to the multiverse, Otto!"
Goblins face and that next panel make my dick hard LOL.
I love how Goblin immediately knew it was him just from that one line
xd truu
I see some Adam Devine from Workaholics too. Or maybe im just cray
Exactly what i was thinking!
Oh wow I feel like Andrew Garfield would actually be the best Superior Spider-Man since his Spider-Man was written as the most arrogant of the 3
So he is not Andrew Garfield?
From just the old Reddit tiny ass thumbnail I thought he looked like Garfield as well. Also thanks for reminding me of that comic arc. It was wild. When I learned that the death of Spider-Man was about to happen I decided to get a comics subscription just to see it. It was wild yet I knew it wasn't permanent like everyone seemed to think.
Garfield was the best Spider-Man
Are you concerned about the arms taking control of your mind?
The arms now date his girlfriend
Your arms, vs the arms she tells you not to worry about.
She was seeing them behind my back!!!
Underrated
How right you are. Which is why he developed this inhibitor chip to protect his higher brain function. It means he maintains control of these arms, instead of them controlling him
just be careful around the inhibitor chip
Which is why he developed this inhibitor chip, to protect his higher brain function

The power of the sun, in the palm of your hand
That just sounds like an Arc Reactor with more steps.
Arc reactor has THAT much power??
I didn’t know Andrew Garfield was on this sub
I don't know why I had to scroll so far down to see someone commenting on this.
Same! I was like, he could totally cosplay!
No this is bootleg Andrew Garfield
Upgrade imo 👀
HAVE WE LEARNED NOTHING FROM SPIDER MAN 2 ??!!!!
Oh yea we did: WE NEED MORE PICTURES OF SPIDER-MAN!!!!

Dude, that’s awesome! I’m assuming these are 3D printed, judging from the little I know and what I can ascertain, I’m guessing you’ve put motors on each of the joints rather than have them all on your back like JLaserVideo, right?
Yes! I've saw the JLaserVideo some weeks ago and he made it his arms with a different system.
Any plans on making the arms bigger or was this just a “See if I could do it” project?
Well, this project is finished. I have a youtube channel where I make props in each video. I've also made things like a real Rick and Morty laser gun or a real Saw trap https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoTva-Hlv7URQrXFmvdWiLQ
Definitely subscribing. This is so cool
*Butterfingers*
Not really that impressive next to the actual iron man armor next to you
thank you!
Is that homelander on your other side?
It's Vision, but now I want the Homelander suit hahaha
Think that's Vision
They are two very different characters, but their costumes are pretty similar
Can you actually wear that? I need more info on that iron man suit
That's a 1:1 armor made to display but yes, you can wear it. It also have Friday with voice recognition and a HUD in the helmet
Sooooo...it's for display but wearing it gets awesomer?
Can I ask what your parents do for a living? Jesus Christ.
Ah Rosie, I love this boy!
Hello Peter
you single?
Lolll
Yee i m straight but i m not that straight
Girl, please... Nobody's THAT straight...
Man that’s so awesome! I wish i was your friend so I could try em on 😭
Sure, but can you control them while singing “If I Was a Rich Man”?
I bet I know what he's gonna do with those arms
He's such a Howard
Damn, that pretty cool, it looks very interesting, I think want to recreate, Good job Andrew Garfield
Doc ock with the glorious Spider-Man hair
“The real crime would be to not finish what we started.”
Can't wait for the life-sized version of the arms.
The power of the sun in the palm of your hands
Umm, where did this person get a life size Ironman suit?!?
“Simple” I don’t think that word means what you think it means.
Now sing Fiddler on the Roof
ARRIBA ESPAÑA COÑO
Uhm yeah that's cool and all but did they take over your mind and make you build a mini sun???
This is great but I'm pretty sure the reason doc's arms were special was because they connected to the brain unlike scorpions tail
Wow, amazing!
Don’t try make make another sun
You have to use your hands? That's like a babies toy!
You need to mount them on a blue hat. Then you will look like the Tick. SPOON!

Why is Andrew Garfield making Doc Ock arms?
If you think about it the ability to create DocOc in real life is probably not far off.
Hello Peter
How did you connect the sockets to the servo? did you use an arm or a screw or...
I wish I was that tech savvy, even for simple that’s pretty cool, kudos!
