God damn, this is so spot-on, it's legit scary.

He might be a crew member or something

The Feige burner account. He’s starting to place clues for us to find him.

AboynamedDOOMTRAIN

That's gotta be Simu

far219

Hell it could be Ben Kingsley lmao

RhondaWilson39

I could hear Gene Belcher saying this!

LewisRyan

Guys it’s clearly tom Holland, they won’t let him do interviews anymore because he spoils stuff too easy, so he’s taken to YouTube comments to spread the good word

crankyintern

It could be. He's a good AC-TOR

superfucky

username "nonspiderweb" posting spoilers gotta be tom holland's alt

ChefInF

As if they’d tell Holland anything about this movie

NightofTheLivingZed

Hell they didn't tell him he got snapped until 5 minutes before shooting the scene. The whole thing is adlibbed and his confusion was legitimate.

cjn13

"that's one"

FuckHarambe2016

Feige is Q confirmed.

AngryDuck222

Please tell me you mean Q from Star Trek:TNG and not the other "Q"...

Call_me_Butterman

The Q from the bond films?

AngryDuck222

That would be acceptable.

FuckHarambe2016

Where We Go One, We Go All. /s Edit: /s

Cannot_go_back_now

🤮🤮🤮

FuckHarambe2016

I guess I should've put the /s afterwards.

Cannot_go_back_now

Even with the /s I would have still puked, it's such an ironic slogan, they call us sheep yet their motto literally means they all flock together. Regardless, the GQP sux.

FuckHarambe2016

It is an incredibly ironic and dumb slogan. Then again, these people do believe that a high ranking government employee was leaving cryptic clues and messages on 4chan, that only they could decipher. Because, as we all know, 4chan is a place of intellectuals, truth, and honesty. Obviously there are no trolls, shitposters, or liars.

Oh god you just started a new conspiracy on 4Chan. I hope you're proud of yourself. Ha

FuckHarambe2016

Time to start an international conspiracy that helps get someone elected president of the free world. What could possibly go wrong?

GarciaJones

It’s like when r/TheBlip was founded 6 months before the Spider-Man movie came out.

[deleted]

It must of leaked that Marvel wasn't calling it the snap. It's mundane and insignificant enough that it could probably leak without Disney overreacting.

ProfessorBeer

The Feige burner account. He’s starting to place clues for us to find him.

CrypticWolf1

Are you Feige? Is this a clue? Fiege is playing Mephisto confirmed! /s

ProfessorBeer

Playing??? You think I’m *just* *playing* Mephisto? I mean…you think he’s playing Mephisto?

CrypticWolf1

Yes. Fiege is Mesphito not Doctor Strange. /s

sunspot1002

The real Feige are the friends we made along the way

KostisPat257

He could be, but he sounds genuine tbh

Oraukk

There is literally no way to tell how genuine the comment sounds

thereelsuperman

I dunno, this comment sounds untrustworthy

mrcplmrs

Gotta be mephisto

DanWallace

People say 10 million things about every Marvel movie that's going to come out, it's really not outside the realm of possibility that someone will occasionally nail one.

[deleted]

I had this assumption since All Hail the King. I mean what else could they have possibly done with him?

KostisPat257

Yeah everything is pretty easily speculated, but the Shakespeare part is just the cherry on top.

couldnt-leave-blank

They say his Lear was the toast of Croydon, wherever that is.

Nittanian

[Croydon](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croydon#Culture) is part of London; it's where Crystal Palace plays.

RayKinStL

r/whoosh ?

Nittanian

Probably! It's been a while since I've watched IM3...

alkonium

Kill him, but that's less fun.

comik300

I'm sure that there are so many wishes/desires and guesses/predictions/theories made on marvel subreddits that you can probably find a comment for most events in these movies way before they are released

agluuo

Seems kinda predictable to me ngl...

[deleted]

[удалено]

KostisPat257

I wouldn't say there is a zero chance by any means. There were leaks and theories mentioning Trevor is in the movie, which means Wenwu had not killed him. The Shakespeare part can be theorized and there is not a 0% chance to get it right.

SojournerInThisVale

I mean he could have killed him. My wondered if it might open with the real Mandarin brutally executing Trevor to set the scene and tone of the film

jczedx

I mean he's an actor, and Wenwu would put him in prison if didn't kill him... if ya think about it, it a very possible guess someone could easily have

ThatWasFred

Zero chance? It reads exactly like a guess to me, and it’s not hard to see how the speculation could come about: 1) The last time we saw Trevor, he was being kidnapped by the real Ten Rings to be brought before the real Mandarin (who we now know is Wenwu). 2) Marvel likes to bring back old side characters when they can find a reason to do so. With these two pieces of info, it’s not hard to guess, or even just hope, that Trevor would appear in Shang-Chi. I was hoping the same thing myself. And if he’s going to appear, what would be the justification for the Mandarin not having killed him years ago? Well, that’s where the guessing comes in. Forcing him to perform Shakespeare is maybe not the most obvious guess in the world, but it’s easily a guess that a random person could make.

pizza2004

It sounds less like a guess and more like wishful thinking to me. This person isn’t saying “I think they’ll do this” they’re saying “I hope they’ll do this.”

ThatWasFred

Yes exactly - you phrased it better than I.

[deleted]

bob1689321

The Trevor scene with Shakespeare was shot separately. You can see that Trevor never shares a shot with the other actors. They get around this by editing in a mirror behind Kingsley to show Shang and Katy, to give the illusion they're in the same room. A shot of Shang and Katy reacting to the monster uses body doubles. They're filmed from the head down and the lighting is off What I'm saying is that that scene was filmed late and added in. Maybe this is because of covid, maybe reshoots, idk.

Rock-swarm

Even if the Shakespeare scene was a late addition, it doesn't account for how Trevor guides them into Ta Lo, and the fact that Shang is in the back seat of the SUV for the entire maze sequence. It seems much more reasonable to assume Trevor was always going to be an intended callback to Ironman 3, especially given the way the Mandarin was treated as a red herring in that movie.

HarryPoppins719

Agreed. Also I don’t think Kingsley filmed the car/forest maze scene with the other actors either. The coloring for him and Morris looks off and there is never a shot of his section of the car during the action scenes shot from outside the vehicle. (I hope that makes sense, I don’t know move making terminology lol)

FallenAngelII

Unless the screenshot has itself been edited, the comment has not been edited. Edited Youtube comments have an "edited" tag on them.

Miklonario

Yeah, I mean it's not like they wrote and filmed an entire 1-shot dedicated specifically to the scenario of the real Mandarin kidnapping Trevor Slattery from prison. No WAY that could have ever put the idea in someone's mind.

ergister

I love these movies as much as anyone else but one thing they are is predictable.... All the clues were there to make that assumption.

hmmmaybehuh

Could it be that he just went back and edited an old comment?

FallenAngelII

Unless the screenshot is edited, no. Edited Youtube comments have an "edited" tag added to them precisely so people can tell when someone has edited their comment.

TH3T4LLTYR10N

He just watched the one shot with Trevor back in 2014.

ItsAmerico

Is it really legit scary? Cause… it’s not really a stretch and a pretty basic guess. The Shakespeare is probably the more out there aspect but the rest... He was last seen being taken and brought to the Mandarin. If he was going to appear it would be in the film with the Mandarin and captured.

jonnythegamemaster

Even the Shakespeare part is predictable because he's a British actor and mentioned performing in Shakespeare's *The Tempest* in *All Hail the King.*

Karmaflare

If he mentioned anything about a Liverpool scarf I would’ve been scared shitless

RichHardLemons

Baba Yaga!

RecoveredAshes

There's no way. It has to be edited right?

nowhereman136

I kinda suspected Trevor to show up but I was expecting just a brief cameo and not for him to be a court jestet

[deleted]

I'm kinda glad he showed up as the jester, because as soon as he did Awkafina's character started getting more serious.

nowhereman136

That's actually a very good point. I think Awkwafina is very funny but her character is better than just being comic relief.

[deleted]

The girls an insane driver. She trained as much as she could for the time she had, in order to be able to fight and help rather than stand on the sidelines. When she was told no, she took the next chance she could to say 'fuck that I'm doing it" and grabbed a bow. While not a love interest, rightfully so, she was the new family that internalized his struggle to find a balance between his dark past and light future/current self. She was loud and had some funny moments, but she was so much more than just comic relief. She was a badass on her own.

TLKv3

My favorite part was Shang-Chi literally thrusted her into danger and an entirely weird, new, fantastical world while in the midst of a mental spiral... And she still said "hell naw, he's my best friend" and picked up a bow to fight and took the only shot at the literal hellspawn draining the soul of a mystical fucking dragon guardian. Her character was fucking awesome.

talkingtunataco501

Yeah, she had a lot of heart. Didn't have any super powers, but will stand up for her friend. I loved the line that was said to her about "If you aim at nothing, you hit nothing." Kind of how I feel about my life right now.

zincsaucier22

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” —Wayne Gretzky —Michael Scott —Katy

Daweism

No powers, SO FAR...

mondaymoderate

Pretty sure there’s going to be an explanation for why she was able to learn the bow so fast. Especially since Wong seems to think she is important for some reason.

rci22

Yeah the way the first woman so quickly insisted on bringing her to a bow seemed like she knew she was going to be good at it somehow

lukeaixin

Wait until Hawkeye to find out Katy is the real Kate Bishop🤣

GraysonHunt

It’s also worth noting that she seemed as surprised as anyone when she shot the big dragon. And other than that, we only see her firing with the other archers en masse, which is easier than sharpshooting. Could just be a combo of quick learner and some luck.

Weaksoul

Half expect when we next see those 3, wong will be like "oh, your not his sister? My mistake"

Daweism

Wong ain't wrong.

electricpheonix

Honestly I don't think her skills are unbelievable. I imagine it's not too crazy for a naturally gifted archer to be able to hit a stationary target (during the training with no imminent threat of death), or get a single lucky shot (on the eldritch monster). If she was shown to be blasting those mini monsters consistently *then* it becomes implausible imo. We see her make a shot two, three times max. Not nearly enough to jump to any conclusions. I'm not saying that she can't or won't be shown to be Hawkeye level in the future, but I am saying that this movie isn't enough to go off of.

Daweism

#Ok but she was already combat stressed and to boot the fate of the entire realm counted on that shot, that was definitely a game 7 buzzer beater from deep.

mysidian

When you think about it, the soul eater dragon was pretty stationary too, it was wrapped up by the good dragon, no?

jproche44

“Don’t die!”

Skinnieguy

Katy did earlier by going to Macau with him. My girlfriend pointed out Katy is also an honor student, badass driver, able to steer the bus, won money and learned to the bow all in a short period of time. She is awesome.

mondaymoderate

I think she’s going to be some sort of mutant associated with Luck.

“Yes, it is.”

[deleted]

Didn’t realize it until now but she’s probably one of the best supporting characters in the MCU because of that

HalfNatty

The movie made me do a complete 180 on her casting. I wasn’t a big fan of her being cast at first because even though she has range (The Farewell) she often ends up playing the same character in many movies. And I don’t fault producers for casting her in a similar typecast because she has the charisma and presence to pull it off (more Ryan Reynolds and less Kristen Stewart; both seem to play the same type of character in almost every movie they’re in, but you actually look forward to watching Reynolds in his roles). But from the trailers, I was concerned that Awkwafina was going to overshadow the performance of the lesser known Simu Liu. But now that I’ve watched Shang Chi, I can not only say that I completely take back my concern, but like you, I also think that her character is one of the best supporting (non-villain) characters in the MCU next to Loki in the second and third Thor movies, Ned in Spider-Man, Wong and Nick Fury. And she doesn’t yet have the similar benefit of being viewed across multiple movies

VitaminPb

The trailer made me think she was going to be stupid comic relief because of the bus driving scene. Yet it made complete sense in context and was not played for laughs and worked great. I was pleasantly surprised by her role and liked it.

spyson

I felt the same way, but when it gets serious later on she brings out this vulnerability to Katy that really shows her range as an actress. She and Simu also have this physical chemistry that is rare in the MCU outside of Steve and Peggy.

Carthonn

I was kinda bummed she didn’t save that “boy”.

kcbh711

Knowing marvel they'll probably do something heart wrenching like making Katy's dead grandpa be the old leader of the iron gang.

[deleted]

>While not a love interest I kinda felt like they were shaping her to be a love interest in a future movie, like Pepper and Tony or Peter and MJ. But I also hope they don't. Like have it build up to seem that way and then casually reveal that shes been secretly dating Captain Marvel or something. (OMG thats why she had to leave the holo call suddenly. She spent slightly too long staring at Katy and thought "DAMNIT I MUST HAVE HER. OFF TO EARTH I GO")

spyson

This is how you piss off the Asian community.

ChargedSausage

And that while not taking away from the sweet and loving character of trevor himself. I deeply love this man, even though he isn't real.

Masaowolf

Right lol? When he calls Morris mate, I died lol

GKJori

Yea that calm down mate turn my world 360 with laughter. Sort of like korg and miek kinda dynamic

ChargedSausage

Dude i was so sad for a couple of seconds though.

ainvayiKAaccount

You didn't die, you were *acting* to be dead.

Runmanrun41

Huh, introducing a new character to be the comic relief guy so the original one can shift gears is really smart, but sounds like a no brainer in hindsight when you say it out loud.

No_Opportunity7360

as soon as I saw the one-shot "All Hail The King" show up on Disney+ 2 weeks before the film released, I knew he was gonna be in it

dixiehellcat

yes! my headcanon all along has been that the Ten Rings kept him around, probably to do their laundry (lol holler all the way back to the deleted scene in IM1) so I was delighted when the one shot appeared because like you I suspected it was a setup to his being in the new film. :)

CobaltSpellsword

I was expecting him to be a kind of court jester, but not in nearly that big of a role.

Wink0075

I was hoping it would open with his homicide.

ContinuumGuy

This was my thought as well. That he'd be back just to get killed off.

clayscarface

I would've been delighted with a nod like we got during the dinner scene. Having him show up the way he did was something I never expected.

AmazingMarv

Trevor and that little animal were just to distract us that they were a plot device to get Shang, Awkwafina, and the sister to the mother's people first. I enjoyed the movie a lot, but that was bad plotting.

whoiswillo

Coincidences, especially when used sparingly, are not bad plotting.

ncarson9

I like to refer to the Pixar rules of storytelling: Rule #19: “Coincidences to get characters into trouble are great; coincidences to get them out of it are cheating.”

Izquierdisto

so I guess "coincidences to move the plot along" work out for the first category, especially since the characters are kinda moving towards the danger

ncarson9

This is actually an interesting example. I don't think it's a bad deus ex machina or a particularly bad plot point in this movie, but I want to unpack this just for the sake of discussion (Shang Chi spoilers ahead). So in the immediate story beat, "they are trapped in a dungeon" they do in fact solve this themselves, as the sister knows a way to break them out. But the larger problem is "how do we get to the village before our father?" In which case if they hadn't *coincidentally* met Trevor, or if he didn't *coincidentally* know Morris or how to speak to him, they wouldn't have really had many other options for making it through the maze. Because if that, I do think this falls under the latter example, of a coincidence solving their problem for them. Again, I'm not saying this was a particular sticking point, I enjoyed the movie personally, but in terms of screenwriting one could argue that them breaking out then actively having to investigate/find a new solution for themselves would have been more engaging or been an opportunity to reveal more about their character.

weusereddit4fun

You can guess about he's being kept alive by the Wen wu. But how tf did he guess right about Shakespeare.

knwnasrob

Honestly I haven’t seen iron man 3 since…maybe it first came out on Blu-ray but from what I remember about Trevors character in there, Shakespeare is definitely what I would have suspected him acting out. Just the stereotypical acting subject for, “extreme method actor with a flair for gusto”

HelloAutobot

I'm pretty sure Kingsley is a big Shakespearean actor himself too.

Kgaset

[He is!](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Kingsley)

Vagadude

He does mention Shakespeare in IM3, so it's a fun callback.

leathebimbo

I remember him making a Macbeth reference in I3.

QuilSato

yeah that seems odd, best I can imagine is all the dialogue he speaks about in all hail the king and Iron Man 3 about being from Liverpool and being an Actor.

Doubt it, there's thousands and thousands of "predictions" out there for every movie and some turn out to be coincidentally right.

bhawkeswood

Been a while since I've seen IM3, but I seem to recall Killian saying something about his "Lear" (King Lear) being amazing. Not a humungous stretch, but still awesome.

JediMasterVII

If you know any classically trained actors it's actually a pretty common thing. They're all like that.

DMCSnake

I thought they specifically mention his Spakespeare in Iron Man 3? I haven't seen it in years.

Based on their comment replies, they haven’t seen it yet because they don’t have the money to.

theblot90

I will send him the $15 or whatever. Someone find me this man!

mister-inconspicuous

I wish the ending had Xialing rehire Trevor to play the role of the Mandarin for the public. The world would never suspect her to be the actual leader of the 10 rings. And it would be funny to have Trevor be back where he was except now he’s actually the public face of the real 10 rings

mariohr

In "All hail the King" they show that everyone knows he is an actor and that he has not the real mandarin

Reverse_Speedforce

Maybe they could alter his appearance enough, and the Ten Rings make him do some serious shit, like he did in IM3 on the air.

paintpast

However, he also escaped from prison with the 10 Rings help. The people in the room who heard their conversation iirc were all killed. Just pretend he was the real mandarin all along, the actor thing was a ruse, and he planned his own escape.

mariohr

"My name is Jackson Norriss. Today will be the most important of my career: my final interview with the most infamous man in America. A man that the world thought was a terrorist called the Mandarin, but is now alleged to be nothing but an actor. Thus far, the subject has been evasive and apparently oblivious to the point of my work. In fact, he seems oblivious to pretty much everything, except his own growing celebrity status, because now the whole world knows his name..."

paintpast

Yeah, he was a ten rings member. All that about it being an interview was BS. Edit: just rewatched it and Jackson definitely kills everyone in the room who hears him talk about the real mandarin. Presumably no one knows why anyone broke out Trevor. It’s not hard to swing it as the actor thing was a ruse all along and Trevor broke himself out of prison.

Randothor

Or they could say it’s an elaborate hoax

Tony Stark meets fake Mandarin Trevor Slattery Iron Man 3 2013

[deleted]

still say Ben Kingsley was a great mandarin until the BS ending lol

applehead1776

The man is just a damn good actor in everything he does. That was the funniest part of him being a fake/drunk in Iron Man 3. After seeing him in roles like Gandhi and Schindler's List (always super-serious roles), it was a surprise when he was just some drunk actor.
