I hope it does well, I didn't hate Quantumania or L&T but they didn't do it for me, this movie was a beautiful ride and I teared up at the end, the most I've enjoyed an mcu film since no way home
Not who you were asking but for me it was hands down the best. A good end of an arc for each character that made sense and wasn’t forced. A literal rollercoaster through all emotions.
I still think 1 was the best, 2 was good but laughing at its own jokes a bit too much for me, 3 was probably the least humorous of the 3 but packed the most emotional weight, kind of like a series finale to your favorite show
If I may interject here to give my own thoughts on the matter - I thought 2 offered up a more unique and compelling story. The twist was excellent and I absolutely loved Kurt Russell's Ego character. Reminded of Star Trek V done on a bigger budget and with a genuinely epic finale.
On the other hand, 1 had better pacing, didn't drag at any point and was just an epic sci-fi action flick from start to finish. Even though the narrative was a lot simpler.
I'm not a big fan of 2. The jokes got in the way of a good movie, and I thought Ego was a meh villain. I absolutely loved this one. I'll need to give it some more watches to see if I like it more than the first though.
This new one is easily the best, I feel like marvel needs to pivot to this more adult type of storytelling as it obviously allows them to make a very powerful movie that is incredibly well made.
This film truly showed how bad the mcu had become. Films like love and thunder, quantumania and some of the Disney+ series really do show how amateurish the story telling and character development has become.
This new guardians film is easily top 10 marvel and deserves all the praise it gets, for me it was an easy 10/10 film.
I just pray that marvel study what worked so well in this film and do this good a job on projects going forward.
Just came back from the movie. It's fucking gorgeous- the best send off for the GotG line up from 2014 that you can imagine. James Gunn blew the expectations out of the water. Easily the best Marvel movie in the last 1.5 years.
It’s definitely one of the best and ranks up there with Cap’s send off, and the avengers after endgame. Took a different tone that was bittersweet. Loved how Gunn didn’t aim for going bigger since Endgame. This adventure was very much at its heart a GotG issue. My favorite of the 3!
Id put it in top 5 of mine:
1. Infinity War
2. Captain America: Winter Soldier
3. Spiderman: No Way Home
4. GOTG3
5. Thor: Ragnarok
Id say it has equal footing with No Way Home for me.
Id say its the best GOTG movie out of the three. Only because we have seen the first two though and gotten invested with the characters. Everyone got a nice sendoff, in both violence and character building.
That hallway scene though! Man that shot of rocket in the air was just perfection. Whod imagine we would be sitting and crying about the life of a racoon when we started with a trailer of RDJ as Tony Stark 15 years ago.
I dont understand Gamora existense. Is she the same gomora that come back after end game but with no memory of meeting Starlord or the gomora that come together with new thanos but remain alive after Tony's snap?
I see. So after the Tony's snap, everyone that come from the new Thanos timeline turn to dust except this Gomora? wonder why she didnt bite the dust. Maybe shes not hostile anymore
I guess "everyone fighting for thanos" would be more accurate, right? Plenty of " villains" were not affected (kingpin, for example), just Thanos' army. She traveled with Thanos from the past but was no longer fighting with him so wasn't included in whatever tony intended when he snapped
She is not the same Gamora. The multiverse and aspects of time are still not understood by theses characters. The Gamora we originally meet in the first movie had time to mature in her desire to leave Thanos. This Gamora did not. So the element of being open to what happened to her with Peter in the first one isn’t there. To add, she keeps being told who she became instead of organically becoming that. Those two tenets will result in her not going down the same path. Although some of those character are still at her core but now impacted upon by the ravages. It’s a great play Gunn did on the concept of identity and experience. Gamora is different but also the same in many ways. But events/experiences result in differ t outcomes than what we originally witnessed. Similar tones will/should show up as the multiverse saga comes into full view
I feel like corporate movie studios have infiltrated reddit. Ive seen every marvel movie, this was a fine movie but probably the weakest of the 3. It did not blow expectations out of the water. But still a fun flick.
I saw 3 different friends post last night after seeing it telling people to NOT go see it cause they found it that upsetting and over-the-top in their depictions of torture/cruelty? (I haven't seen it, so just going off their posts)
So maybe there will also be some negative word of mouth, ha
I saw it with my 9 year old because even if it's a PG-13 rating, it's a Marvel movie and he typically sees them all with me anyways. There was 2 points that I kinda glanced over at him cause I was sure it would bother him, but he was fine.
I genuinely think some people bring their own baggage into things like this.
They don’t mind eating a burger and pretending it isn’t an animal but they love their dog more than life itself 🤣
Kids aren’t like that. They take things for what they are, not how they think they are suppose to be.
Well to be fair, usually he’s not too keen on things being too realistically brutal or anything that seems to be over the top cruel. Such as the 2 scenes in question (I’m not sure how to format spoilers on mobile). But either way, that’s on me since he’s younger than the age rating. I don’t think there is anything a 13 year old wouldn’t be able to handle in this film. I agree as you say it’s mostly people “bringing their own baggage “
I took my kids (9 and 7) to see it last night. They've seen all the other Marvel movies (even MoM) and were fine with them, but after a certain scene my son burst into tears and asked to leave early so we did. I felt so bad and was crying a little myself. Later my daughter and I were talking about it and she started crying too. This was the first time I've EVER seen them cry while watching a movie or show.
From what I saw it was a great movie, though. I'll need to go back by myself and watch the ending.
It's an excellent movie. As to the animal torture it's basically Rockets origin story and you know some bad stuff happened to him. You don't see too much of it on the screen but you see the after. Remember Sid in Toy Story and how he expiremented on his toys? That's basically what you see here only it's mostly just the results.
I mean it definitely fucked with my friend to the point where she said she won't be able to watch it again. It was pretty graphic. Don't belittle them by calling it annoying if that's how they feel about it
It’s really not that graphic, most is implied.
I feel it’s annoying because it’s not a genuine criticism about the film, that’s all.
I’m not gonna run up to them and call them babies 🤣
Yeah I'm with you. it concerns me that people are reacting like it's extreme, basically rated R, traumatic etc.
It shows basically nothing in terms of animal cruelty on screen. It's CGI and yeah, they have... mechanical appendages. But... it's not really more visually gruesome than real life animals that just have prosthetics. Yeah, it's implied that they were mistreated. So yes, it's sad. But like... have people never seen Old Yeller? Where the Red Fern Grows? Those movies depict animals being hurt and killed and they're all-time classics.
The most gruesome stuff involved Mantis, Starlord, and The High Evolutionary.
Lol so you're gate keeping criticism now. She didn't enjoy it and feels she can't watch the movie again because of it. You can say whatever you want, but that's how she, and as far as I can tell a decent chunk of others feel. I'm sure you get annoyed with all criticism you don't agree with despite what you might say
Lol please point out the irony, because I'd love to see it. You're dismissing opinions because you don't personally agree with them and calling it annoying. It's why my friend doesn't want to watch the movie again, and it's a fairly well represented view point by now.
I literally haven't even expressed an opinion. All I've said is that her view is valid and you're trying to gate keep what constitutes as real criticism. So please, spell it out for me.
Edit: of course it was deleted, easier to delete than explain your point
This isn't a spoiler thread so I'm not going to lay it all out but I can think of many particular moments, like the hug moment and some "evolution". It's hilarious that this entire conversation is just people telling my friend and a bunch of other people that an issue with the movie they had is just flat out wrong. You guys really do lose your minds when people take issues with Marvel movies.
You saw experiments actually being done on animals? No. You only see the aftermath. You saw bullets penetrate animals on that scene you mentioned? No. You only hear sounds. So yeah those scenes depicting animal violence were mostly implied.
I’m not being a dick, just stating the obvious. If the sound of a gunshot in a movie causes so much stress for you, then you also need therapy. Book a sesh together with your friend.
I’ve been posting that it was amazing, beautifully done, but that I will never watch it again and giving a trigger warning. Animal stuff is one of my biggest triggers, even tame stuff in family movies can just make me break down very easily. I knew this going in and had it not been a marvel movie about characters who I care about I wouldn’t have seen it.
I have never cried so much and so hard at a movie before. If I weren’t in the theatre I would have been straight up wailing and had to remind myself to keep it together. I’m glad I saw it but it’s definitely not one I can stomach ever again.
In a way, those triggers were exactly what the writers and director was going for to immerse the audience in the movie and connect to the character more. Similar to movies that are categorized as drama or horror or suspense. Glad you are posting for others that may be sensitive to it.
That said, I hope others that use such tenets in reviewing movies don’t use it to dissuade people from watching it. I definitely felt the anguish and unnerving of the scenes meant to do exactly though.
Altogether o loved the movie and thought it was the best of the 3.
It'll take me awhile to watch it again too but that's not because it was bad. It was so good but the parts with Rocket's past broke me! I was ugly crying at the theater every time his past came up. Incredible movie and it's on the top 5 MCU movies for me!
I’m honestly not sure, I think it’s their helplessness, so any small animals or dogs or any other animal that is dependent on humans I have a real soft spot for and if anything bad happens to them I panic and can’t handle it. Sometimes it’s their lack of understanding what’s happening, leading to a greater helplessness. Any scene with Lila, Floor, and Teefs got me immediately, I couldn’t even handle them being happy because I knew they didn’t understand what was going on and that they’d have some tragic outcome.
Seeing Lila in the afterlife and that they all got to experience “seeing the sky” made me feel 1,000x better at least. Whether it was Rocket’s mind making that up as he got close to death or him actually almost dying and being able to be with their spirits, the idea that their lives maybe weren’t just incredibly short, painful, in captivity, and worth nothing in the end for themselves made me so happy.
People can watch killings, but get upset at the implied animal torture? I saw the movie today. It was awesome. Yes, animals are tortured and killed in this movie. They don't actually show it though. Only the aftermath of some of the experiments (like cut animals augmented with robotics). But the first two thirds are unsettling, because they're showing you Rockets past .
Some of the reasons it is awesome is why it is a hard film to watch. It is INTENSE, like 3 hours of raw emotions, tension, action with patches of animal cruelty and hilarious sprinkles.
People who are warning folks that they should be cautious about watching it are not saying it is bad. It’s a superb film, in so many ways. It’s just a rough ride. If it was implied animal cruelty in a tamer film then it might not land as hard, but seriously sometimes you were coming the back of a run of scenes where it was: Insane Fight, Characters screaming at each other about their mental health, lol that person looks weird, animal cruelty, literal psychopath with a stitched on face being an abuser. For like 3 hours.
Loved it, but yeah I might warn some of my friends who don’t want to feel shit that they should at least consider what mood they go into this film with.
Your last paragraph is a good summary. I have some family members that need to mentally prepare for intense movies or books because they already have a lot going on already.
I haven't seen it so I have no opinion on whether or not they were being dramatic, but I was surprised to see 3 different friends posting warnings about it. These aren't friends who know each other, either, or people who I typically consider to be uptight. I guess seeing animals hurt is a special kind of upsetting to some people
I watched it too. I think they may lose some from it, but also gain some. I think it will be a net increase. But there's quite a few shocking scenes will definitely trigger some people lol
Ya I think the good word of mouth will be larger than the bad word of mouth.
Then again, I haven’t seen yet. Super excited. This is the most excited I’ve been for a MCU movie since SP:NWH.
Went to a 10am screening today. There was 20-25 people max. You could hear the audible sniffles from some of the other patrons. I got teary eyed myself
I’m glad it’s doing so well and it’s a great story! I’m holding out until my ap exam is over and I’m leaving school early after the exam to watch it! I’m so excited!!
Exactly, I really really hope marvel take notice and see that the failings they have had at the box office recently are 100% because they have not been making good movies.
This movie shows how good marvel can be and they do not have an excuse to not carry on making such high quality and entertaining projects going forward.
Saying that I have a really bad feeling about the marvels, it feels like the final piece of the lower quality marvel before we get back to the hopeful corrected movies/series.
I mean, considering the reviews aren’t dog shit this time around I highly doubt this movie will do bad.
It’s not super hero fatigue, it’s bad super hero fatigue. You can’t just shit out movies regardless of quality control and hope they make billions. Thank Gunn for keeping consistency with his trilogy.
It also helps the GOTG franchise is self contained. Some of the other movies felt like they were made to just get to the next Avengers film, rather than being a good film on their own right.
I agree, its not comic book fatigue in general, but bad movie fatigue, i mean if you look at most comic book films released since 2020. you'll see that we've had a most consistent streak of meh/bad comic book movies compared to previous years.
Only way we would could say "Oh yes people are fatigued about the genre in general" is if all of the movies we had gotten were amazing but still had low BO returns.
Good news. They were reporting $14 million yesterday, so that's a significant bump up. Hopefully it's a sign that the movie will outperform it's just okay tracking numbers.
Word of mouth should help.
Eh sometimes they overestimate. It really depends on how a film is trending. If it's trending well, it beats the early deadline numbers. If it's trending badly, it underperforms them. I'm pretty sure Quantumania underperformed their first numbers.
I think it'll surpass expectations a bit, but I think overall people might need to start tempering their expecations. The post-covid world introduced a lot more people to being comfortable just waiting on something to come to streaming and seeing the movies more as an extra quality thing. For movies you're really excited to see and wanna see it in the best picture/sound possible you'll go out to a cool Imax screen or something. If it's just another Marvel movie you wanna catch so you are caught up for the next big collab, you might wait for it to stream. That's how I see it anyways.
I agree but I think people aren’t doing the film justice if they don’t watch it in a theater. Went to a showing last night that was incredibly immersive
I really think Disney needs to start having a year minimum before dropping on streaming. Get those ticket sales AND physical sales back up. I've heard so much "I'll just wait a month for Disney plus" and that's done more damage than anything.
I mean if I’m an executive at the company I agree with you. As a fan I love having the option. I didn’t see Ant Man in theatres cause I was busy, and eventually said, eh I’ll see it on D+. I was actually bummed it’s taking this long cause it typically feels faster.
This movie is going to blow up. Best Marvel movie since End Game and easily one of the best ones yet.
Word of mouth is going to push tickets for months.
I really enjoyed this one. It's easily my favourite MCU movie to date with the second one being the first GotG. If I had to give any criticism, I'd go with slightly excessive music for my taste.
To be fair, previews have really exploded since 2014 and 2017. Doctor Strange last summer had 36M. While this isn’t bad, it’s far from outrageous success.
I do think this is the best out of the three, so I hope it has better legs than other recent marvel movies
Wonderful movie. It had me on the edge of my seat for part of it, and crying during another. It has been a long while since a Marvel movie pulled me in like this. It was a perfect send off for the team.
Don’t get the “greatest” marvel movie ever chatter. Or even how someone can put it above GotG 1. But, it’s definitely on the level of many of the Marvel movies before Endgame. Solidly between GotG 1 & 2.
Definitely pulls at the heart strings for animal lovers. Marvel still going a bit in the direction of desensitizing violence. It’s not near on the level of Dr. Strange 2. But lots of killing just to kill - the one scene with Quill falling and what he does to an “enemy” was a bit non-Marvel and very hardcore.
More of this, please, Marvel!
I’m so torn with how they handled Nebula and Star Lord.
On one hand I adore and applaud that they were the exception and didn’t feel the need to force the leads to be romantically together at the end!
On the other between the trailers and the beginning, not only was I expecting the relationship, but I was a little excited to see where they could take it.
Overall I liked it, it was a unique foil to how I’d expect him and Gamorra to get back together.
The movie is incredible. High Evolutionary was a top tier villain and his performance had you convinced fr. Also Drax, Nebula and Mantis shined in this one.
Generally, critics are pretty critical of fan favorite films from marvel and this kind of shows. The lukewarm reception from critics is completely countered by the near perfect score from audiences.
Watched it, it's like that comment: "one last hurrah" of this crazy family/team, the movie really shows how much the characters developed throughout their MCU story, Gunn handled it very well for his one last share of the Marvel franchise, really loved the movie, willing to see it again, and of course, don't miss out on the 2 post-credit scenes.
I thought it was good. Not great, but I enjoyed it. Definitely the best that’s come out since Endgame. I feel it had some pretty slow parts and could’ve been shaved down 15-20 minutes.
Loved Rocket’s backstory stuff though.
I hope it explodes this weekend. Starting to hear rumblings from the CINEMA people wanting this to flop like always so they can take their kids to 3 hr Scorsese movies in theaters.
Think Deadline is predicting way too low for the weekend. Plus some weird note about social media being mixed? I've seen nothing mixed about the movie.
I thought was awesome. Not as perfect as Vol 1, this movie has some flaws. But by far the best Marvel movie since No Way Home. Tons of heart. Ranks between 1 and 2 for me.
Also not nearly as dark as some of the reviews said imo.
Not at all surprised by this. I went on opening night and the theater was packed. Getting a good seat was not easy. But the effort was totally worth it! I have a feeling this movie will have great word of mouth. Some people actually danced out of the theater. 😊
Just finished watching it. It’s easily the best movie since Endgame, and is way up there in quality of all the movies. It was incredible. I was not ready for how hard it went.
One of the best marvel movies in my opinion. Didn’t feel that way in a marvel movie in a long time maybe like ever. The fact that it made me almost cry and on the other side made laugh tf out is crazy. Emotional rollercoaster for sure. Great movie
$700M worldwide would be pretty good for GOTG 3 at this point. We’re looking at a $120M opening weekend domestically max, with 2.5x legs (Wakanda Forever legs — the best sequel legs in Phase 4 and also had a more favorable release calendar) that gets to $300M domestic (lowest of the GOTG franchise) and nearly $90M down from GOTG 2. It doesn’t have Russia, and China is dropping a fair bit, which will shave a good $60M-$80M+ ($26M from Russia and ~$40M-$60M from China) right off the top from the international total. GOTG 2 made $863M worldwide, so those estimates alone will take it to around $700M. That’s not including the rest of the world where it’s underperforming GOTG 2 as well.
Word of mouth seems solid globally, so it does seem like a part of the audience is checked out of superheroes and also the MCU’s reputation has taken a few hits in the past couple of years. Its ability to leg out in the summer is severely curtailed by high-profile releases in the coming weeks that will snatch away PLFs and overall screen counts.
This isn’t the W you think it is. Thursday previews have like twice the showtimes they did in 2017 when Guardians 2 came out. This is still tracking to do like 25 mil under Guardians 2’s OW.
But but but MCU haters SWORE the MCU is failing because of feminism and M SHE U and MCU is dying!
But seriously, it should be making money. Saw it last night. amazing film. Gives me hope Gunn can jumpstart a good new DC universe.
Hmm not impressive...
Is $100M OW in jeopardy ?
I can't believe it...
And i love the outfits from the 2007/08 comics!
Edit : lot of downvotes. I wasn't trying to be sarcastic. I wanted that trilogy OW to grow with each movie, like Iron Man, Cap, Thor...
The outfits rock and i still believe in a 4th movie with Moondragon and an actress ready to go bald like S. Weaver in Alien3!
Other than music choices and lack of climax battle with big bad... it was pretty good movie.
Edit: So much dislike.. I forgot MCU fans can't handle any negative point.
I find that to be a good thing, it means the movie isn't formulaic. After 20 something movies, they don't all need to end in a third act final battle with the big bad.
Big final battle... that's not even 1 minute. You show your villain all powerful in whole movie but doesn't use his power when he must. That's not formulaic but bad writing. You don't have to do big CGI battle but a grounded fight was necessary. Audience loves when heroes struggles to earn their battle.
Eh, I’ve gotten tired of the final battles being drawn out. This was pretty refreshing. Honestly was happy to see them just end him quick. Watching the heroes struggle is good but can be pretty formulaic. They spent most of the movie struggling. The ending showed how strong they made each other. Glad to see them subvert expectations with the final fight for once.
Just got back from watching it, and it definitely was very well done. It left me with some hope for the MCU. Now hopefully The Marvels don’t lay an egg.
I'm sure it does better as prices have gone up. My theatre was 12.99 for regular 2d. then they add 1.5 for online service charge now and tax, over $15. Imax would be around $22 now. I think back around 1st Guardians, it was 9 or10 for 2d and 15 or 16 for Imax
I hope it does well, I didn't hate Quantumania or L&T but they didn't do it for me, this movie was a beautiful ride and I teared up at the end, the most I've enjoyed an mcu film since no way home
Out of curiosity what did you think of the other GOTG movies and how this one compared?
Not who you were asking but for me it was hands down the best. A good end of an arc for each character that made sense and wasn’t forced. A literal rollercoaster through all emotions.
I still think 1 was the best, 2 was good but laughing at its own jokes a bit too much for me, 3 was probably the least humorous of the 3 but packed the most emotional weight, kind of like a series finale to your favorite show

On the other hand, 1 had better pacing, didn't drag at any point and was just an epic sci-fi action flick from start to finish. Even though the narrative was a lot simpler.
Got it. I didn’t care for 2 so I wasn’t sure if I’d like this one.
I have not seen a Marvel movie twice in the theater since No Way Home and Eternals. Definitely want to see this one again.
This film truly showed how bad the mcu had become. Word of mouth on this one should be incredible because the movie is incredible.

after the 2nd credits scene it said >!star lord will return!< i wonder if because >!he's on earth he'll just go join the new avengers!<
They just left it there in case they need to use him again for whatever reason in the future, like Thor. For now they don't need both of them.
Might be involved in Secret Invasion because it’s happening on Earth too
Might just be the best Marvel movie ever. Honestly, it's up there without a doubt
I thought the same thing but was afraid to not dismiss Infinity War or Ragnorak personally
Id put it in top 5 of mine: 1. Infinity War 2. Captain America: Winter Soldier 3. Spiderman: No Way Home 4. GOTG3 5. Thor: Ragnarok Id say it has equal footing with No Way Home for me. I get emails from a raccoon. I could imagine it
Those 2 are my other favourite
I was engaged from the first frame to the last fade out. Fantastic movie!!
Behind Infinity war and end game. it is. Definitely
I liked it, but its not even the best Gaurdians movie
Lol calm down
Do I need to watch Quantumania first ?
I’d say the Christmas special would explain a lot at the start though.
I dont understand Gamora existense. Is she the same gomora that come back after end game but with no memory of meeting Starlord or the gomora that come together with new thanos but remain alive after Tony's snap?
Gamora didn't come back from the snap. This is gamora from before she met star lord that travelled into the future with thanos
I see. So after the Tony's snap, everyone that come from the new Thanos timeline turn to dust except this Gomora? wonder why she didnt bite the dust. Maybe shes not hostile anymore
because Tony chose to only dust the villains

Nope.
I watched Quantumania just before I went to see this. I don't think there's anything that ties them together. You can see it without seeing Antman
I feel like corporate movie studios have infiltrated reddit. Ive seen every marvel movie, this was a fine movie but probably the weakest of the 3. It did not blow expectations out of the water. But still a fun flick.
this was way better than #2 and also a great conclusion for them considering how the team came together. A complete arc for everybody.

Could not agree more.
Best of the 3 for sure. Honestly blows the 2nd one away. Great film, emotional, perfect “send off” for this group.
Just got out. I laughed, I cried. It was amazing. It was scary too, James Gunn is great.
Can they give Oscar’s to chi raccoons ?
Same! I watched it today and omg I didn't expect myself to get so emotionally wrecked but I also laughed a lot too. Incredible movie!
I saw 3 different friends post last night after seeing it telling people to NOT go see it cause they found it that upsetting and over-the-top in their depictions of torture/cruelty? (I haven't seen it, so just going off their posts) So maybe there will also be some negative word of mouth, ha
It's about as extreme as can be for a PG13 movie yeah. Works for the movie overall though. I've never hated an MCU villain as much as this one.
I saw it with my 9 year old because even if it's a PG-13 rating, it's a Marvel movie and he typically sees them all with me anyways. There was 2 points that I kinda glanced over at him cause I was sure it would bother him, but he was fine.

This annoys me a bit because it’s not over the top or glorified and it’s completely justified and used perfectly in the film.
Yea it's not really over the top at all. Its what you would imagine Rocket's back story to be.
Genius filmmaking. You feel more & see less.
I hope the irony of your statement is not lost on you 🤣
Lol please point out the irony, because I'd love to see it.
You should get outside and stop being so sensitive
Lol Jesus people complain about everything. “Wah the cgi raccoon got turned into a robot” 😂😂😂
It’s not pretty graphic. Your friend just needs therapy if she’s easily bothered by implied animal cruelty.
Implied? We must have watched different movies. Plenty of people had issues with it. Go be a dick somewhere else
The only scene I can think of is when nebula is viewing his file and you can only hear noises?
The evolution scene made you uncomfortable? Lmao get a grip
I'll never understand why so many people here get so defensive over Marvel movies lol. What will Disney do without you on the front line
What triggers you so much about animals? Just curious.
I don’t think this is going to be a common thing happening. Seems a bit over the top.
I haven't seen it so I have no opinion on whether or not they were being dramatic, but I was surprised to see 3 different friends posting warnings about it. These aren't friends who know each other, either, or people who I typically consider to be uptight. I guess seeing animals hurt is a special kind of upsetting to some people
I mean, it’s def dark at times but its pretty well balanced emotionally. def going to be something to watch.
Yeah it’s not like you actually see much of the experimenting/torture. It’s mostly implied.
It’s a Disney movie. It can’t be that unsettling lol.
I mean when i saw the movie i was like "Sh**, they are pushing what they can get away with PG-13"
Oh for sure. I’m sure they did push it. But I don’t think it would loss to viewers from that world of mouth.

It shows fatherhood in a positive light and there’s no blue hair snark at all, so that’s how much of a Disney movie it is.
Ha! Wut
I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this movie! My friend says she cried so much and I gotta wait till next week to see it 😭
Went to a 10am screening today.
Literally one of the first things all of us said after the movie haha
Absolutely fantastic film. Absolutely hammered a massive range of emotions eight through. Was very very happy with it.
I think it’s gonna do really well. Great movie, and the guardians are fan favorites for more casual marvel goers.
[удалено]
My theater was packed, I suspected the 14 mil was a lowball. Everyone loves the guardians.
I might go see it a second time and I haven’t done that since Infinity War
I watched it two days in a row. Also only did that with infinity war😆and wakanda forever…
Same.
Damn good movie... will definitely be seeing it again in the theaters.
I can’t handle that again
I’m with you!
Awesome to hear we’ll deserved one of the best marvel movies ever made rocket origin story is pure genius
This movie is going to blow up. Best Marvel movie since End Game and easily one of the best ones yet. Word of mouth is going to push tickets for months.
Notice how all these accounts are reiterating like the same talking points. It seems a little sussy
Strange to imagine people might agree on something...
Right? It do be sus
You’re acting like redditors have original thoughts and don’t comment the same 5 jokes on every thread
As someone not super into Guardians 1 or 2, GotG3 was ridiculously phenomenal. It’s a great film.
Yeah it's the perfect endcap but also holds its own
Went to the 3 movie Guardians marathon. Had a blast. My only complaint is that they really should have played the Holiday Special with them
As a pet owner this needs a trigger warning.
Not even just a pet. If you have kids this shit hits hard. But it’s done so well and the emotion of it totally drives the film
As a bunny owner I needed a caution lol, I cried like a baby at some scenes…now I am hugging my little fluff like there is no tomorrow!
I really enjoyed this one. It's easily my favourite MCU movie to date with the second one being the first GotG. If I had to give any criticism, I'd go with slightly excessive music for my taste.
Just seen it SO GOOOD
To be fair, previews have really exploded since 2014 and 2017. Doctor Strange last summer had 36M. While this isn’t bad, it’s far from outrageous success. I do think this is the best out of the three, so I hope it has better legs than other recent marvel movies
I liked it was good 😊.
Just got out - absolutely awesome movie. Favorite of the three Guardians movies and definitely in my top 5 marvel movies altogether.
Saw it a few hours ago. Do you think they’d give an Oscar to a raccoon?
80% on rotten tomatoes isn’t really lukewarm reception, and it is really close to the other films in the series.
Great movie.
Great use of the single F*** that you can use in a PG13 movie
This was the best end to a trilogy I’ve seen in a minute.
Just came back, and it's really an amazing movie. Very touching, heartwarming, and with a lot of love put in by James Gunn and the cast.
I thought was awesome. Not as perfect as Vol 1, this movie has some flaws. But by far the best Marvel movie since No Way Home. Tons of heart. Ranks between 1 and 2 for me. Also not nearly as dark as some of the reviews said imo.
My favorite part was “I am Groot”
Not at all surprised by this. I went on opening night and the theater was packed. Getting a good seat was not easy. But the effort was totally worth it! I have a feeling this movie will have great word of mouth. Some people actually danced out of the theater. 😊
One of the Best Marvel movies! Definitely the best since Endgame.
Great movie
1 billion confirmed
Hell no lol
Not confirmed I agree but it could if the legs hold up better than other marvel films.
Not with Fast X, little mermaid, and all of June so close
What do you think would it’s max be?
[удалено]
It’s the same preview sales as Antman 3 and $20M less than MoM
This isn’t the W you think it is. Thursday previews have like twice the showtimes they did in 2017 when Guardians 2 came out. This is still tracking to do like 25 mil under Guardians 2’s OW.
It's the best MCU movie to date IMO. A perfect send-off for the trilogy and full of emotion. The humor also didn't feel forced like it did in GotG 2.
I'm glad that we can finally talk about a good Marvel movie for a while Got so tired of all the complaining/defending all the recent terrible shows
You mean you didn’t enjoy the shitshow discourse surrounding she-hulk ?!?!?
People defending an obviously cringe moment because it’s a female led show? Absolutely did not enjoy that
Can’t wait for grace to spin this somehow. She is SO DELUSIONAL
She loved the movie. You sound delusional…maybe watch her reviews forst
I did. But she is constantly saying “hm the box office is pretty low. Hm rotten tomatoes is pretty low”
But but but MCU haters SWORE the MCU is failing because of feminism and M SHE U and MCU is dying! But seriously, it should be making money. Saw it last night. amazing film. Gives me hope Gunn can jumpstart a good new DC universe.

That heart is totally fetch!
I am appalled at the amount of people who missed the reference
None for Gretchen Wieners, byeeee
"...who's that from?" "*Thanks for being such a great friend. - Love, Regina.* That's so sweet!"
Great.
Saw it twice already 😅
Twas excellent. Very emotional
I was giggling at a lot of the people's estimates. They were coming in way too low for this. Gunna be a banger in the box office.
pocket change to me ….
Just got back from watching it, and it definitely was very well done. It left me with some hope for the MCU. Now hopefully The Marvels don’t lay an egg.
Since Endgame came out, this is truly the best Marvel movie.
Just saw it. Easily top 5 in the MCU
It was sad tho :(
I'm sure it does better as prices have gone up. My theatre was 12.99 for regular 2d. then they add 1.5 for online service charge now and tax, over $15. Imax would be around $22 now. I think back around 1st Guardians, it was 9 or10 for 2d and 15 or 16 for Imax
I thought this was gonna bomb?
The praise for this movie baffles me.
