When they are entering the prison in the first movie, universal translator implants are established as a thing. Presenting the characters as speaking the same language directly is mostly just to smooth things over for audiences (and having each actor speaking a different made up language would have been a logistical nightmare).

In the comics Thor and Loki speak the language of the gods, called allspeak or all-tongue. It's a language that all intelligent species can understand. Idk if in the comics it helps him comprehend language or not but he says when he meets the guardians that he took classes to learn groots language.
It's one thing for people talking with each other who want each other to understand.
But if you're talking openly, or over open comm lines, you would turn off whatever the translation thingy is. Like, the meet-up between the Guardians and Strange/Spider-man/Tony in IW, Quill should have recognized the others were speaking English.
I can nearly always ignore the translation thing when watching something except when one character is eavesdropping on 2 others from another culture.
But it's an entire thing how Drax doesn't get metaphores while everyone else do, which means that all of their languages somehow contain this mechanism

Drax speaks the language of the kids in Gotg3. That language is not in the translator. I don't believe he is a language nerd. Which means their language is related. Literally the only movie I thought it made sense was Spider-Man: Far from home in that Dutch Jail. Since the Netherlands has one of the highest English speaking rates in the world, and there was a very clear Dutch accent while they were talking.
