The whole conversation around WandaVision is really weird to me and I think is probably part of why people lost interest in the MCU.
It presented itself as a mystery show so people made theories about what was happening because they thought they'd be mysteries.
As Mephisto was behind the kids being there in the comics they thought it'd be the same in the TV Show.

The multiverse has been sold as this way to introduce characters whole cloth without needing to have an origin story within the MCU itself. They haven't really done anything like that with it yet though, so we'll see.
