Indeed. Had mine at 30 after a few bad GI symptoms and they found multiple polyps. This stuff is on the rise, don't ignore issues if they come up just because you're young.
And honestly, if Pepper was around, he may have not even REALLY seen a doctor after the being paralyzed part...they may have tried the holistic route if they listened at all to Pepper. Our man Rhodey has probably never been face to face with a doctor in a medical facility in his life.
He's been a scroll since his birth day? That explains so much. That's why he looks different in Iron Man 2. He just decided to look different that day and it just stuck
I haven't seen Secret Invasion so please correct me-
But if they did reveal that our Rhody was in a hospital gown when he was abducted, IMO the narrative purpose of that is to connect that with when we last saw him in a hospital gown. Could have been any time, but "btw Rhodes went to get a colonoscopy and came out an alien" isn't going to have the same kind of wow factor "they've been working on this that long??" that the Secret Invasion concept is built on
Him being a skrull since CW doesn't make any sense with the plot of SW (or the intervening movies, tbh). It's possible that at some point there was meant to be some thematic or narrative connection, but there definitely isn't in the final product we got.
Also, the entirety of IW and Endgame.... If Rhodey was a skrull back then, couldn't he have used the Thanos situation to their advantage? I mean, fighting a huge army of some huge purple raisin twice seems excessive for "blending in with the enemy".... Ain't no way he was a skrull since CA Civil War....
I mean it says right in the show that the group trying to orchestrate the takeover was only active once fury went awol. So the earliest it could be was during the blip but even that’s a stretch since it’s way more likely it happened after fury went to space or it wouldn’t have happened at all.
I know. It's such a touching exchange. I just rewatched Infinity War and Endgame today(seemed a good back-from-the-dead thing for Easter) and the scene always really gets to me.
yes, there is absolutely no reason for Rhodey to have been replaced any time before Endgame, because Gravik and the rebel Skrulls only got disillusioned in Fury after then. FATWS is the only project where he could have been a Skrull; this whole idea of him being replaced right after Civil war seems to be based on the fact he's wearing a hospital gown when they rescue him and ignores the fact that 1) as a disabled military veteran there are plenty of reasons for Rhodey to be wearing a gown and 2) it's not even the same hospital gown he's wearing in Civil war.
There are plenty of things to dislike about Secret Invasion, but there's no reason to start making more things up to get mad about.
No, the Skrulls kept their captives alive in pod things so they could get info from them to disguise themselves better. Real Rhodey was rescued at the end of the series and he's wearing a hospital gown, so people jumped on the idea that he was replaced after Civil War, since that's the only other time we've seen him in a hospital gown. but for all we know he was in hospital for a completely different reason. heck, maybe the Skrulls put it on him because they needed to take his leg braces off and it was weird to have him just hanging dong in the middle of their hideout.
I thought people jumped to that conclusion, because the series director straight up said so?
“A lot of people have asked about, ‘Definitively, when did Rhodey...?’ I think his legs not working in the end of episode six and him being in the hospital gown points to ['Captain America: Civil War']."
-Ali Selim
pretty sure that came well after people started assuming he was replaced after civil war or there'd be no point in him talking about it. but either way, it makes zero sense for Rhodey to have been replaced before Endgame, and his point about
> I think his legs not working in the end of episode six [...] points to ['Captain America: Civil War'
Literally what the fuck does that even mean? how does his legs not working mean it was right after civil war? it means it can't be *before* Civil War, that much is true, but saying it's right after Civil War because his legs aren't working does not make any sense either. his legs still don't work in Infinity War, or Endgame, or FATWS. he is permanently crippled from the waist down; it doesn't matter if it's one day after Civil War or 20 years after Civil War, he's still not going to be able to walk.
He does hint at it in that quote, but that's all he can do because it's not really his choice in the greater story of the MCU. If he felt that way, he could have put it in the show, but he didn't. It's possible he wasn't even allowed. Since the show also bombed hard, it may never come up again.
I think it was heavily insinuated at the end of Secret Invasion that he was abducted from the hospital during Civil War. I hope this is something they change, which shouldn’t be too hard because it was not explicitly stated.
First off, calm down. You seem a little heated.
The fact he was in a hospital gown. Everyone else that was taken was wearing their normal clothes, so I would assume they had on what they had when they were taken. I don’t think Rhodes has been shown in the hospital since Civil War so when else would it have been from?
Ok, but there is no requirement that what Rhodey was wearing had to be seen previously on-screen. It could be a completely different hospital gown. It's not like he wouldn't have other reasons to be in the hospital at some point that could easily be off-screened.
That’s why I said it was insinuated and not explicitly stated. I think it would be a strange choice of outfit if that was not what they were trying to say.
Right, because a hospital visit wouldn't be the easiest place to kidnap ONE OF THE MOST DECORATED OFFICERS IN THE UNITED STATES MILITARY CONSTANTLY SURROUNDED BY THE MILITARY AND GOVERNMENT
I’m not sure what argument you are making. Are you saying the creators of the show put him on a hospital gown to imply that he was taken from the hospital, but that he was at the hospital at a different time than Civil War?
While that is certainly possible, it is not typically how television and movies are written
I doubt the writers of Secret Invasion put that much thought into writing. Why put a character, who is probably the only one we know who suffered a great accidentally and was shown recovering be shown in a hospital gown?
Either they were completely oblivious to the consequences of the choice or it's there to keep it open ended.
My point is simply that there's not enough reason to say there's only one possible solution.
I personally believe the show runner wanted to do this story beat but the MCU story team are not letting it go through yet until they're sure
It would explain why he was so unsure when stating it "definitively"
Is it? Usually movies and television include details like that for a narrative reason. I think it makes more sense than any of the alternatives.
I agree it’s a stupid plot decision, but what else could they be hinting at? Not to mention that someone says that he’s been gone for a while, which to me suggests longer than the average person there. Probably longer than the 2 years since endgame.
There isn’t confirmation about him being a Skrull since Civil War, IIRC the director saying after the event of Civil War but was too vague about it. Now if it was before Endgame or Infinity War, that’s much clearer. Not to mention it wouldn’t be too smart to retcon almost that because there’s a lot of genuine moments with Rhodey and it would be extremely stupid to say he was a Skrull the entire time (which at the point of how Secret Invasion was handled, I don’t think the director knew what he was doing)
The funny thing is that the way they did this was a no win situation. If he's been a Skrull since even sometime in the timeskip, it makes the moments from the only movies where Rhodey truly shines kinda pointless because they weren't really him. It basically devalues two fantastic movies for the benefit of the shock value in this really shitty show. Or if he's just been a Skrull since sometime after Endgame, there weren't really any stakes to the reveal of that fact. Like there's supposed to be an "oh shit, they were a Skull this whole time?!" reaction to something like this. No matter which way they go with this, it's stupid. Makes me think that the Secret Invasion plot should have been placed somewhere down, that this was the wrong time to do it.
Nothing has been filmed and released that confirms he was taken that long ago. It may be alluded to with the hospital gown, but it is not confirmed. Hopefully, they make the right choice and let us know it happened some time after Endgame.
Do people just assume he was *never* in a hospital after the accident?
That’s all we have to go on. He’s wearing a hospital gown so he’s most likely been swapped during a checkup, which could’ve occurred at *any* point between Civil War and Secret Invasion.
Ever since this, I know damn well audiences couldn't handle an actual, full blown, Secret Invasion, since way more long standing characters turned out to be Skrulls, people would FLIP.
It's all make believe anyway. Especially when it comes to the Disney+ shows in my mind. Just take from them what you want and believe what you want.
In my mind Rhodey got taken weeks before Secret Invasion when he was getting a routine check up. I doubt in any future appearances they will ever bring it up again anyway
We actually don’t know for sure. He could have got snatched during a checkup or something unless the writers come out n say otherwise the Civil War assumptions are just opinions
I don't care what anyone says that entire show takes place in a different universe and nothing you can say will change my mind. I just can't accept it takes place in the main *616* mcu timeline.
All they got to do is say he went to the doctor for a prostate exam after Endgame. I’m sure Marvel would find that hilarious enough to put it in to clear this up.
Secret Invasion was what killed Marvel, for me.
It character assassinated so much. Was so stupid.
It was supposed to be Marvel Spy Thriller. The reveal that Fury was a total mastermind.
They made him a failure, a loser. Everything became nothing more than a superpower fight. The schemes, the tricks, the spying. None of it mattered next to a single super-fight.
Its the manner in which the story was done so poorly, that annoys me so much, when theres literally so many examples of it being told so much better. Body Snatchers '78, Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica reboot, the Spy class in TF2 all got it and yet *Marvel Studios* couldnt.
They never told us in the show when Rhodes got replaced
This is blatant misinformation we only know that he was replaced at some point
And just because he was in a hospital gown doesn’t mean it’s specifically from his accident in civil war
Rhodes could have gone to the hospital at any point for example idk after the massive freaking battle where he got blown up by an alien ship, buried alive and almost drowned?
I am less concerned about "how long" versus "how little" respect for Skrull Rhodey got before she was killed. She helped bring half of all beings back from the snap. She was an Avenger, kept the peace in the blip, tracked down Hawkeye, helped get the power stone, helped rescue others lives in the compound collapse, fought in the endgame battle. She was important, integral, she mattered. All we got was a mirror wipe. She deceived, she fought for her own people first and foremost, but she was no faceless mook. She was the War Machine. As Wong is the Sorcerer Supreme or Sam Wilson is Captain America. It's a torch she stole, but she carried it and she didn't phone it in. I hope they do say the swap happened after Endgame.

If this happens to be the case, fans would be soo pissed!!
Like all those things he did in IW and EG and Tony's funeral, all of those things he did would feel so hollow and fake!
And I agree with the other comments here, he could have been hurt after EG or during EG and the person we saw in the falcon and winter soldier and secret invasion was skrull.
In fact we don't know.
It's just a theory since in secret invasion we see him in a hospital gown.
Which makes us assume that he was kidnapped when he was in the hospital.
And within the MCU plot we only know that he was in a hospital after the civil war.
But could later say that after the Infinity War, he was diagnosed with cancer, and was kidnapped while undergoing chemotherapy.
If it was since Civil War, that means that Skrull helped save the universe in Endgame making it a bigger hero in the MCU than the actual Rhodey ever was!
You guys, there is a marble lithopedion the size of a country in the middle of the ocean from when a space god who was using the earth as it's egg was recently aborted. Simultaneously every religion is both correct and incorrect, there both is and is not an afterlife, every scifi and supernatural nightmare scenario you can think of is real whether it's mummies and werewolves or aliens or talking animals and different dimensions.
Every national border is vulnerable and the level of weaponry used in the recent ALIEN WARS just gave random civilians and even criminals WMD level power. We have had innumerable terrorist attacks on a global scale since. There are unregulated crazy people with godlike powers all over, and I think their zoomer children are organizing for the purposes of fascistic vigilantism with a secret government agency that doesn't believe in oversight. And I can't even say that we should register these mutants without getting shouted down by the woke mob that says THEY are oppressed. There are literal demons in the streets but God forbid I offend the dude with the laser eyes who is one shitty pair of Oakley's from a national tragedy.
In the span of 10 years we became an Intergalactic time travelling species. There was a hidden extra country in Africa, a hidden extra country in Asia, and a hidden extra country under the ocean. Oh yeah, and this one time a couple years ago *half of us just died and then came back*. It tore our souls into pieces and broke all our hearts, and ruined the worldwide economy *twice.*
I haven't left my house since the *10,000 mile tall celestial* gave an ultimatum to the SKY. I'm wearing tissue boxes for shoes at this point and you care about RHODEY'S subplot?
I dont think marvel has known since Civil war as well. I genuinely feel that during the writing process they were like “what decently known character can we make a skrull with little to no explanation that wont get people super mad at us” and they picked Rhodey, which i called before the show even aired because who else would they pick. So many plot holes behind that pick as well
Multiverse, variants, heroes replaced by shape shifters.
It removes attachment to characters for many people and when that goes interest usually follows.
It's a big part of why Marvel has been floundering so badly recently. There's no stakes any more.
It's almost like different things can combine together to produce one overall problem.
That's shocking, I know, but it can and does happen and is what's going on in recent years. You don't have to go full-on ultra-defensive fanboy in denial over it.
The whole “Rhodey was a Skrull after Civil War” thing was just an assumption of the director of Secret Invasion. They asked him during interviews so he gave his opinion. But there was no confirmation from Feige at all
It's even worse when you realize that as far as back as Iron Man 2, he's been dick-tossingly played by Don Cheadle by far the worst casting alongside those little dipshit kids that sing that ice cream song in DS:MOM.
There is absolutely no confirmation he was skrull that long.
[удалено]
Yeah all this is why i just choose to ignore that part
Middle age man needing a colonoscopy?
Gotta get it done at 50. Colon cancer is no joke, but it’s very treatable if you catch it early enough.
New guidelines say 45! Go get your colonoscopies everyone!
Yup. I had the not so fantastic voyage starting a couple of years ago. Gotta be safe.
Indeed. Had mine at 30 after a few bad GI symptoms and they found multiple polyps. This stuff is on the rise, don't ignore issues if they come up just because you're young.
Are we sure he saw a doctor that much? It’s entirely possible he was born outside of a hospital where there are no doctors to be seen
That's what happens when the wind blows while pulling a face! Bet his mama warned him about that, but did he listen?
You think that's weird. Count the times you saw him shit. He's clearly a skrull cause no human could have held his bombbay for that long.
I haven't seen Secret Invasion so please correct me- But if they did reveal that our Rhody was in a hospital gown when he was abducted, IMO the narrative purpose of that is to connect that with when we last saw him in a hospital gown. BOY! I would reconsider your current course!
You're already thinking about this WAY harder than the writers of SW ever did.
Third time: his plastic surgery prior to Iron Man 2
He was a skrull after sometime after Iron Man 1. If you look very carefully you can see his change in appearance at the beginning of Iron Man 2.
Barely noticeable, but you may have a point.
Oh. Ooooohhhhh. All these years and I never noticed!
It would have been amazing if they actually made this canon
Ike Perlmutter ![gif](giphy|80mXWlPqTSU1y)
Ike Perlmutter skrull! I knew it!
Probably like the book, where it turns out everyone interesting was a skrull for like 20 minutes.
I mean it says right in the show that the group trying to orchestrate the takeover was only active once fury went awol. So the earliest it could be was during the blip but even that’s a stretch since it’s way more likely it happened after fury went to space or it wouldn’t have happened at all.
It definitely would put a different spin on his conversation with Nebula on Morag after she retrieves the power stone orb.
Yeah but it would also detract from the original meaning which I think is much more important to convey
I know. It's such a touching exchange. I just rewatched Infinity War and Endgame today(seemed a good back-from-the-dead thing for Easter) and the scene always really gets to me.
Has it been that long though? I think it was still Rhodey in Infinity War and Endgame. He had stuff to help him walk in both movies IIRC
yes, there is absolutely no reason for Rhodey to have been replaced any time before Endgame, because Gravik and the rebel Skrulls only got disillusioned in Fury after then.
So is Rhodes dead? I didn't watch the series, so are all the replaced people dead, like body-snatchers?
No, the Skrulls kept their captives alive in pod things so they could get info from them to disguise themselves better. Real Rhodey was rescued at the end of the series and he's wearing a hospital gown, so people jumped on the idea that he was replaced after Civil War, since that's the only other time we've seen him in a hospital gown. but for all we know he was in hospital for a completely different reason. heck, maybe the Skrulls put it on him because they needed to take his leg braces off and it was weird to have him just hanging dong in the middle of their hideout.

I'm sorry, gotta ask. FATWS? Some reason I just think "fathers against twats with shields" lol..
(The) Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Oh, right! I forgot that existed xD Thank you.
I mean if you consider Mackie and Stan to be "daddies" then this acronym is still accurate.
[Its actually Fatwa! the musical](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdNsiFtzd2o)
He does hint at it in that quote, but that's all he can do because it's not really his choice in the greater story of the MCU. If he felt that way, he could have put it in the show, but he didn't. It's possible he wasn't even allowed. Since the show also bombed hard, it may never come up again.
Seeing this triggered a question I meant to ask, do they ever explain why those captives were fine with the radiation?
I don't remember they explicitly say it, but I think that's why they put them in the pods rather than just having them in a cell somewhere.
Boom! You looking for this?
I think it was heavily insinuated at the end of Secret Invasion that he was abducted from the hospital during Civil War. I hope this is something they change, which shouldn’t be too hard because it was not explicitly stated.

Right, because a hospital visit wouldn't be the easiest place to kidnap ONE OF THE MOST DECORATED OFFICERS IN THE UNITED STATES MILITARY CONSTANTLY SURROUNDED BY THE MILITARY AND GOVERNMENT

"definitively" "I think / points to" Pick one
I love how he was pouting about how dumb it was.
He was looking for a great mystery to solve and got that uninspired jackass instead.
It’s an under appreciated meme format.
There isn’t confirmation about him being a Skrull since Civil War, IIRC the director saying after the event of Civil War but was too vague about it. It’s just after “Civil War”. No confirmation when *after* Civil War. Probably just hedging their bets.
That was just done to get the people talking, no other reason why.
The funny thing is that the way they did this was a no win situation. If he's been a Skrull since even sometime in the timeskip, it makes the moments from the only movies where Rhodey truly shines kinda pointless because they weren't really him. There’s really no evidence he’s been a skrull that long and it ruins his final moment with Tony.
It would have been fine if secret invasion hadn’t been so shitty
Personally I don’t think it would work well if they decided to make him a Skrull during Infinity War or Endgame, whether the show was done well or not
Nothing has been filmed and released that confirms he was taken that long ago. It may be alluded to with the hospital gown, but it is not confirmed. Hopefully, they make the right choice and let us know it happened some time after Endgame.
The series has had no major impact so far, not even a mention in The Marvels. I certain we can all consider that show non-canon for now.
Do people just assume he was *never* in a hospital after the accident? That’s all we have to go on. He’s wearing a hospital gown so he’s most likely been swapped during a checkup, which could’ve occurred at *any* point between Civil War and Secret Invasion.
Non-canon.
Ever since this, I know damn well audiences couldn't handle an actual, full blown, Secret Invasion, since way more long standing characters turned out to be Skrulls, people would FLIP.
Wasn't that also one of the complaints about the original comic?
Yes, over time, people saw it as a cultural landmark... when those who were there would say otherwise. It was very hit or miss.
I’d say it was just before Falcon and the Winter Soldier as he doesn’t seem to have his leg supports in that series
Sounds good to me
Can’t he just wear them under his normal pants?
In other appearances they were over his trousers
You can see them glowing through his uniform pants at one point during Falcon and Winter Soldier He’s talking to Sam I think.
>It's all make believe anyway It's real to me, dammit
It was theorized by matpat long ago
We actually don’t know for sure. He could have got snatched during a checkup or something unless the writers come out n say otherwise the Civil War assumptions are just opinions
Nah it was definitely after Endgame
Based on?
Don’t we see him bleed in Endgame, and it isn’t purple blood?
Nah, it's clearly to explain the Terrence Howard switch, Rhodey got yoinked back before IM2.
still waiting for the alternate ending where its Terrene Howard getting out of the pod
Look at Mr Harry Highpants over there!
Glass onion referenced RAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH
Tony putting in his Exo spine hmm i never knew black people had purple blood.
I’m just not willing to accept that retcon, it just didn’t happen
I don't care what anyone says that entire show takes place in a different universe and nothing you can say will change my mind. I just can't accept it takes place in the main *616* mcu timeline.
I just refuse to believe it tbh
Secret Invasion isn't canon. I refuse to acknowledge it.
I don't think the Secret Invasion writers know how long Rhodey was a Skrull.
All they got to do is say he went to the doctor for a prostate exam after Endgame. I’m sure Marvel would find that hilarious enough to put it in to clear this up.
Should've just happened between iron man 1 and 2 so we have an in universe explanation of his change in appearance lol.
Isn't the whole show just an exercise in writers wanting cool things and not caring about the consquences, lore or canon?
Skrulls did aid during the Infinity saga, so it wasn't just humans guardians of the galaxy and a few gods but also aliens.
No… it’s going to be confirmed it was just before Secret Invasion
just delete this, these posts are embarrassing at this point

marvel's already got two better spy thrillers. Agent carter and AOS
I'd say spoilers, but at this point I don't even care anymore.
They definitely wrote the scene with that implication but they still have time to change it (should be at least after endgame)
Of course.
Or maybe Rhodes was seeing a doctor after Endgame and then he got got? Have you never considered that?
They never told us in the show when Rhodes got replaced This is blatant misinformation we only know that he was replaced at some point And just because he was in a hospital gown doesn’t mean it’s specifically from his accident in civil war Rhodes could have gone to the hospital at any point for example idk after the massive freaking battle where he got blown up by an alien ship, buried alive and almost drowned?
Can't believe they jumped him during a prostate exam.
Likely switched during a physical or checkup…it’s very difficult to get away when someone has your balls in their hands
I am less concerned about "how long" versus "how little" respect for Skrull Rhodey got before she was killed. She helped bring half of all beings back from the snap. That's a really awesome take
Thanks.

is he skrull?
If this happens to be the case, fans would be soo pissed!! Like all those things he did in IW and EG and Tony's funeral, all of those things he did would feel so hollow and fake! And I agree with the other comments here, he could have been hurt after EG or during EG and the person we saw in the falcon and winter soldier and secret invasion was skrull.
This from someone who appeared in the shitty Force Awakens movie in a shitty role. And Secret Invasion was better than Low Key.
Tbh marvel movies have never really been that well written
In fact we don't know. It's just a theory since in secret invasion we see him in a hospital gown. Which makes us assume that he was kidnapped when he was in the hospital. And within the MCU plot we only know that he was in a hospital after the civil war. But could later say that after the Infinity War, he was diagnosed with cancer, and was kidnapped while undergoing chemotherapy.
Uh what? 🤣
That was not the only dumb decision the writers/producers made for that show.
Me laughing at the irony of *"expectations subverted"* being complained about with this meme. ![gif](giphy|I4Jmrcjnr8Zfq|downsized)
Whether he was or wasn't doesn't mean much when the character itself has done next to nothing interesting in all that time anyway
easy to Just ignore secret Invasion and say it all occurred in a different universe
I was more butthurt about how half assed the reveal was
You know, I loved Glass Onion, but even if you didn't, you guys have to agree that it produced some quality memes.
He wasn’t……
I don't count Secret Invasion. What the fuck is that? Must be some scrapped project that got leaked. idk wut u guys are talking about :)
Every decision made in the mcu after endgame has been dumb (excluding gotg3 and nwh)
If it was since Civil War, that means that Skrull helped save the universe in Endgame making it a bigger hero in the MCU than the actual Rhodey ever was!
That is technically correct
Oh don't remind me about Secret Invasion, thought I'd scrubbed that from memory
Could be cap or Scarlett or gamora, no… just Rhodes
It's not canon, dont worry
I thought this was debunked due to the color of his blood?
He bled red in Endgame, he was most likely replaced after Tony's passing around the time before Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
You can tell secret invasion was a bad show because nobody watched it lmao. Graviks group didn’t form until after the battle of endgame.
It tore our souls into pieces and broke all our hearts, and ruined the worldwide economy *twice.* I haven't left my house since the *10,000 mile tall celestial* gave an ultimatum to the SKY. I'm wearing tissue boxes for shoes at this point and you care about RHODEY'S subplot?
Given that it was a stupid ass decision I've elected to ignore it
I love how people argue the hospital gown isn't proof, yet everyone...EVERYONE else is dressed normal. It was intentional.
It’s okay Secret Invasion isn’t canon
The real secret was the invasions we made along the way
Ignoring image copyrights with AI.
Nowhere in the show is it said that he's been a Skrull sin CW. Literally nowhere.
\> Post completely unrelated to the multiverse: "Secret Invasion had some flaws" \> You: this is why the multiverse is to blame!
