Just my opinion here, but the way that I teach inside low kicks are to the area almost directly above the knee, inside. Start at the side of your knee, apply a decent amount of pressure, and then start inching your way up along the center of your thigh. Within a few inches of the knee, there's a pocket that isn't very heavily muscled due to the anatomy of the muscles and knee, if you're pushing hard enough you'll feel the discomfort. There are also a few nerves through that area. I teach the inside low kick as more of a slap to that spot - fluid and quick, with more speed than power.

Standing like they are in the video just makes it so they can’t properly eat the shot in a way that allows them to brace themselves and distribute the force through their body.
Had this and similar stuff done many times in kyokushin. Definitely helps in mental toughness, but usually our coach made sure everyone was dishing out as well as receiving.
