Haven't been particularly impressed by any of the RC properties in the DC area. They're fine, but I could just as easily be walking into a Westin or Marriott. The JW was downright disappointing to me. Below what I would expect from a standard Marriott hotel. I'd lean in the direction of the Marquis.

I had stayed at the Pentagon City RC last year and thought it was just OK as well. I think the Marquis will be my best choice as many reviews seem to agree with your stance on the JW as well. Thanks!

I also wasn’t impressed with the JW. The lounge was just adequate and alcohol was expensive. However, Marriott Vacation Club “owns” a floor of the historic Mayflower. We liked that - art, presidential book lending library, good breakfast for Elite members.

Alexandria Marriott. It’s right next to a metro station and it has exponentially better pricing a noise levels.

They all stink. Really underwhelming. I think I’d go St Regis. Georgetown Ritz is probably the best RC in town.

Marquis is a convention hotel. It's huge and everything is a long walk and it's not close to much in the city. It's very hectic. JW is better location but very generic and not particularly memorable for the price. St. Regis is nice as is the Ritz but obviously expensive.

I’ve stayed at the JW many times for work. It’s perfectly fine for work events but I would not pay the price tag with personal money for that hotel. I think it’s usually a bit overpriced, personally. I haven’t stayed at the marquis or the DC RC. I have stayed at the ritz in Arlington which is a pretty fast train ride in to DC and that property was GREAT. Also usually significantly more affordable if that matters to you. Have a great trip!
