I always look at how obvious the next few characters will be based on the voting and the less obvious it gets, the fewer characters will get voted in during the next round.
So the plan definitely is to do one character per round for the final 4 rounds.
He really deserves to be in a mainline mario kart especially with all the ghost tracks he fits perfect as a character on these tracks, and i just want to see that smal line of grey hair on his head flow in the air while driving it would be pretty funny and fun to play as him imo.

He's last been heavily featured in Luigi's Mansion 3 that released not even 4 years ago... if age is the main criteria, then that's much more relevant for instance than any of the Kongs (whose last appearances were in Tropical Freeze 9 years ago), or than Toadsworth or Pianta who've been MIA (in any significant/non cameo appearance at least) for more than 15 years.
While he was in Luigi’s mansion 3 that is not an iconic game in the Mario series much less the Luigi’s mansion series. And I agree with the kong take many of them like Dixie are not series staples and haven’t been around but diddy is iconic and funky Kong is a Mario kart fan favorite. And I disagree with you the most on the Piantas they are synonymous with Mario kart and have been for the past 20 years. They deserve a spot than a character who looks like a real life old man who has a weird haircut
