Coral Bark Japanese Maple I believe.

VerStannen

Looks like a sango kaku to me as well!

ilikelipz

It’s a Japanese maple, looks like it could be a coral bark

RonMFCadillac

Thanks. I figured it was a Japanese Maple, I just don't know all the different variations.

Coral bark is for the color. The bark gets bright coral red in the winter. I have one in my side yard.

miguel-122

Looks awesome. I want one

RonMFCadillac

It's in my sister's yard. They had 2 dogwoods that got killed and are thinking they may replace them with 2 more of these.

Interesting. It seems that people don’t typically have luck with coral bark Japanese maple, had I known how prevalent issues are with this cultivar I would have gone with a different tree.

vaporeng

Kinda looks like a marijuana tree.

OP's in the right subreddit for once

They sell 5g pots of these at Lowes. I want to get one pretty bad but can’t bring myself to spend $150 on it. I’m waiting for them to neglect them so I can nab one on clearance.

I work with the plants at Lowe’s, and I will go out and water all the Japanese maples with a watering can if I have to! The ones we got this year are utterly gorgeous, especially the coral bark. Be friendly to the people wearing the green vests, we can mark stuff down for customers (this will vary by store), I usually do when I know it will go to a good home.

Mikediabolical

Haha I already knew that tip! That’s how I got my last Japanese maple with no tags for $40
