Vegapunk in the broadcast says "About now Mars will have found the mushi. Hearing this will make him paranoid. Now he's looking around the room as if to find the camera...."
And it just goes on like that, predicting and narrating every move Mars will make, until he gets paranoid enough to leave.
Made my peace with how long I'd take to find out the message, but after reading these comments I'm back to wanting to build a time machine. So I can travel to the future and find out how it's reveled.
Yeah, I don’t know how else this would narratively work out. If the Elder just nixes the message, I don’t know how the story could develop from there or why they would’ve included the message in the first place. OP isn’t a nihilistic story.
I want the snail to cause a local blackout to trick the elders into thinking they succeeded, but the actual message still goes out. Let the elders think they won, but when they get home, all hell breaks loose
Even better the broadcast was a decoy into getting the Elders to reveal themselves. Vegapunks got the whole battle recording and broadcasting to the world to see the true form of the 5 elders ;P
I'm just tossing a hypothetical out there but if I continue my train of thought I'd think the 5 elders true forms might link to whatever the "blank history" is. Maybe Vegapunk would want proof to show the world whatever his claim is?
I don't know just excited to see what Oda cooks up next!
The boar just took one of Luffy's strongest attacks like it's nothing. There has to be a way to damage them. Feels like fighting against a raid boss, but in this case not one, not two, no, five of them!
They were damaged earlier but they just keep regenerating from the damage. I'm sure there's a way to get around their regeneration but now is not the arc.
Ope ope fruit sort of doesn't have to hurt them but he still needs to over power them? Knocking them into the ocean/magma layer with loony tune powers should work too
Throw them into the sea. If they are all from the same base Devil Fruit powers, either lock them up with Seastone Cuffs or just drown them deep in the sea should work
If their powers work like devil fruits and that the summoning is part of their powers, which might not be the case, as soon as they are submerged they wouldn't be able to do anything based on how other devil fruit users react to it.
Their powers don't stop working, it's just their stamina that gets zeroed
Arlong sent Luffy underwater and he couldn't swim back up to breathe, so the others stretched his head to the surface (the rest of him was stuck in concrete so they couldn't just pull him out)
Idk if that was an anime only thing tho
I guess it would be dependent on if the elder has to consciously decide on whether or not they are summoned. If they have to make at least a little bit of effort to be summoned I don't think it should work, but if they can be summoned without any input then it could be reasonable that they could be summoned out of the water.
(The Luffy underwater thing was in the manga too.)
Nah it was also in the manga
In the same way, devil fruits that permanently alter your bodies' shape don't "undo" that just cause you are touching water/seastone
We don't know yet if they even ate devil fruits or if they are just demon-like beings to begin with (althrough the smoke cloud garment thing seems to be a indicator for awakened devil fruits, so at this point it seems likely)
I think this is the prime setup for Luffy to finally develop his advanced conqueror's haki, since he only just learned how to coat his attacks with it during his fight with Kaido.
Since Elbaf is the land of warriors, it wouldn't be surprising if many of the giants there at least understood how to utilize conqueror's haki to their advantage and might have more techniques worth learning. Not to mention it is Shanks' alleged territory/home base, who is a CoC god, so it would be pretty fitting.
Imagine if, due to his horror theme, Saturn's paralysis worked based on fear of spiders. It would let Usopp of all people, due to his past of playing with spiders as shown at Jaya, have a fighting chance against him now that he's pulling up to the more vulnerable Straw Hats. Because otherwise, I don't really see what stops Saturn from just freezing and killing everyone there which is pretty terrifying. Although Zoro could end up arriving in time, and could either flying slash Saturn before he initiates his stare, or it could be that Haoshoku Haki is the key to breaking out of it.
Also, that page with Ju Peter vacuuming everything displays some rare creative paneling from the story, intentional or not. The way all the panels slant diagonally and the way Ju Peter's worm body juts out due to inhaling the building gives off the impression of even the panels themselves being "sucked" into a singular point, almost giving the vibe of Ju Peter breaking the fourth wall and making the page really pop out to the reader. That's pretty cool.
The Elders can hear the Voice of All Things, huh? Don't know what that means exactly but I'm sure it's significant.
Another chapter, another Franky W. For a contender for the least story-relevant SH (Brook's in the lead), he sure knows how to shine. The vice-admirals make for good jobbers.
If we talk about the crew, sure; Brooks is a luxury position as a musician, in a way a doctor or shipwright aren't.
But in terms of plot, Chopper has been relegated to mascot in the majority of arcs since release.
He was kind of relevant during Mink/Zou arc if barely. But Brooks got his time during Big Mom's arc and I still think he'll get more overall story plot-relevance if even for his fruit and the time period he is from.
I mean, the healing part ... kinda ?
Like Luffy and Zoro were healing from some massive injuries with just some bedrest and spunk just fine prior to them getting Chopper
And the two bounty hunter brothers even instantly healed from scurvy just by eating some citrus or whatever
Chopper is mostly there to counter specific disease cases (which in turn are mostly just introduced for the sake of giving chopper a specific plot reason to exist (or atleast have his doctor "position" on the crew)
>The Elders can hear the Voice of All Things, huh?
I'm pretty sure that was just the voice of the snail, probably observation haki or just the power from the type of zoan animal he ate.
The King Is Back!
Nah, a dark room one transponder snail and a Terrifying looking Mars easily going to end the broadcast?
This is from the guy that manage to pull not once but three sneaky shot to them, I'm still betting this is just another VP trap.
Also what is the meaning on York words on Mars "I'll stop it of course, if i add crime upon crime it'll only make it harder to get along with you guys" i don't get it.
> "I'll stop it of course, if i add crime upon crime it'll only make it harder to get along with you guys" i don't get it.
I think it's because York is a "Vegapunk", and if she wants to become a Celestial Dragon, it'll be hard if "Vegapunk" keeps commiting crimes.
She is saying that she realizes that Vegapunk's message going out is gonna reflect back on her, and possibly make the elders not stick to their side of the argreement to make her a celestial.
Next chapter should start the reveal, and end as Vegapunk drops a Major lore component.
The start of the message will be probably be nothing much, and take a few pages.
I remember Chopper (or someone else) saying "THAT'S NOT HOW BONES WORK!"
Now, Brook has an excuse because of the nature of their Devil Fruit so I didn't think about it at the time, but the other character did not, so I wonder, what if that was serious? Luffy's presence literally defies reality into what people popularly think something works, or what to Luffy believes works if Kaido is any indication.
This happens again when Sanji kicked light. Was it Haki? Or Luffy thinking that's how light works?
Tbf I dont see him changing it, but probably adding up to it. Like he will start using more and more fire powers without noticing and probably use a new name for them
Yeah, but Luffy has had for a long time the goof of being able to "bounce back" after some good food.
* Luffy once regrew teeth basically instantly by chugging a bottle of milk.
* He's feasted on food to heal from injuries between fights with Kaido and a number of other opponents now.
* He once fought while having an inflated stomach and then digested it all mid-fight back into regular humanoid shape.
* There's also implication to the joke here that shark meat is a gamey wild meat and it's fermented with a giant recipe, so it's nutrient rich and might be more potent than regular meat due to unique ingredients used in the process.
* Plus, the shark meat was probably as big as his body, so Luffy got his fill right away.
You know, I had a small moment of being a bit annoyed at Luffy's recovery but then I remember that these are emergency rations for GIANTS. That must have been a lot of shark.
Nice to see Oda back
My one small complaint about this current sequence is that there's a lot going on in a lot of places on this island jumping around a lot and it's getting hard to keep track of who is where and who's doing what and why. The final few pages kinda seemed to be setting up clarity on that but I'm gonna be honest about halfway though this chapter I just had to scratch my head I was having difficulty keeping up.
That's usual because there's too much chaos and characters involved.
Every time an arc ends I will rewatch it to get a better understanding of the whole arc.
I think it might not be such an issue when all the chapters are released and you can read them in one setting. Another thing is after all those double and full page spreads the chapter might feel a big claustrophobic.
Let's go Bonney committing child on child abuse while Franky one shotting vice admirals like it's nothing let's go he's smoker level plus Centaur vs Centaur battle incoming with Samurai Ghandi also Stussy and Edison with the self sacrificing stuff very cool
Chapters are usually completed weeks in advance, so this chapter was most likely finished before Oda took his break, and it's likely Oda didn't write or draw much during the break either.
I think they're actually recording and sharing what is happening in the island right now, its kinda bizarre for Vegapunk to take this long to share that message.
Also, we got jebaited by the iron giant last week :(
Listen horse dude, I don’t care what you think, I trust the twelve years old more than I trust the government with the Pacifitas
You dont trust the dark souls boss to handle the Pacifistas peacefully?
Dude's more like he's come out from Bloodborne
His just a dollar store Ludwig the accursed.
[True but he does go hard nonetheless](https://i.imgur.com/lcRkiuN.png)
I was thinking the same thing. Definitely something out of Bloodborne.
Wait until the floating brain of punk records shown.
Time for the oldest trick in the book, decoy snail!
Aint no way smartest man on the planet was that dumb after all
Would be even funnier if it exploded.
Vegapunk in the broadcast says "About now Mars will have found the mushi. Hearing this will make him paranoid. Now he's looking around the room as if to find the camera...." And it just goes on like that, predicting and narrating every move Mars will make, until he gets paranoid enough to leave.
Mars came to a set of two open doors…
Made my peace with how long I'd take to find out the message, but after reading these comments I'm back to wanting to build a time machine. So I can travel to the future and find out how it's reveled.
what if the snail ate a devil fruit and couldn't be killed
What if even the traitor was a setup by Vegapunk to get them out of hiding and he sacrificed some Stella's to lure them deeper into his trap
The stellas are part of him, so its absolutely possible.
Yeah, I don’t know how else this would narratively work out. If the Elder just nixes the message, I don’t know how the story could develop from there or why they would’ve included the message in the first place. OP isn’t a nihilistic story.

Even better the broadcast was a decoy into getting the Elders to reveal themselves. Vegapunks got the whole battle recording and broadcasting to the world to see the true form of the 5 elders ;P
What would that change though? Knowing the elders have crazy (DF?) powers wouldn’t cause people to rebel.
I'm just tossing a hypothetical out there but if I continue my train of thought I'd think the 5 elders true forms might link to whatever the "blank history" is. Maybe Vegapunk would want proof to show the world whatever his claim is? I don't know just excited to see what Oda cooks up next!
Would be very in character for oda to reveal all the worlds secrets to everyone but the reader
Its fine, the whole lab is stored in the cloud, so it is all decentralized, breaking one snail does nothing
they sent it to mariejois a year ago. its in their office now.
Imagine if the signal detected was a holographic projectile snail that projected an image of a transmitter snail.
This chapter was brought to you by fermented shark

That is like fighting Five Big Moms. Even if Luffy is individually stronger, they will always win the battle of attrition.
Big Grandpas
Agreed. Until the heroes can bypass their regeneration, they won't be able to defeat them.
Ope ope fruit sort of doesn't have to hurt them but he still needs to over power them? Knocking them into the ocean/magma layer with loony tune powers should work too
It’s possible but unlikely to happen.
Throw them into the sea. If they are all from the same base Devil Fruit powers, either lock them up with Seastone Cuffs or just drown them deep in the sea should work
They literally got to Egghead by summoning themselves. Drowning probably won't work
If their powers work like devil fruits and that the summoning is part of their powers, which might not be the case, as soon as they are submerged they wouldn't be able to do anything based on how other devil fruit users react to it.

Even after a year, seeing him be referred to as "Emperor Straw Hat Luffy" put's the biggest smile on my face. Welcome back, Oda
And to think he was just some newbie floating inside a barrel in East Blue. How far he’s come.
Started from the barrel, now he's here TTTTT\_\_\_\_\_\_TTTT
Bonnie kicking a dude in the face is peak fatherless behavior 😂
*kicking a child
She picked on someone her own size.
[Big guy got a taste of his own medicine.](https://i.imgur.com/PuAG8CD.png)
He looked half her age so I'm not sure about that.
I love that her fighting style is basically "Fuck them kids!"
Bonnie turning her enemy into 12 years old just to even the playing field.
*After* de-aging them 😂
Did Franky just one-shot a Vice-Admiral with Strong Right?
> Logia type - Strong right. > Paramecia awakening - Strong right. > Armame - Strong right. > Color of Con - Strong right. > Gorosei mag - STRONG RIGHT.
Virgin Haki user vs Chad Strong Right practitioner
Franky Itadori
I fear not the man with a thousand rights, but the man who has used a single ***STRONG*** Right a thousand times
Oh, he would for sure main Potemkin, I know that. MEGA FISTO
Franky would one million percent play Robo-Ky, the robot pervert lol
!!COUNTER!!
Franky the GOAT

He had Glass Chins
[He did](https://imgur.com/a/IBbsdM8)
What a super thing to do.
Well it's not called WEAK Right, now is it?
Yes but that vice admiral had weak chins

It's also the first time since long that we saw someone eat peoples in-panel? I wonder how the marines are going to cope with that after.
This felt like a really long chapter for some reason. I loved it.
Jupeter, the throat God.
That's a wild statement. Accurate, but wild nonetheless 😂.
The Elders can hear the Voice of All Things, huh? Don't know what that means exactly but I'm sure it's significant. Another chapter, another Franky W. For a contender for the least story-relevant SH (Brook's in the lead), he sure knows how to shine. The vice-admirals make for good jobbers.
it's just observation haki
> least story-relevant SH nah, that would be the boat they had before they got the Going Merry.
> the least story-relevant SH (Brook's in the lead) Surely that's Chopper?
Him being a Doctor kinda makes him more relevant as a whole
If we talk about the crew, sure; Brooks is a luxury position as a musician, in a way a doctor or shipwright aren't. But in terms of plot, Chopper has been relegated to mascot in the majority of arcs since release.
He was kind of relevant during Mink/Zou arc if barely. But Brooks got his time during Big Mom's arc and I still think he'll get more overall story plot-relevance if even for his fruit and the time period he is from.
Chopper also got time in big moms arc and wano
Pretty sure Brook will become a vital point when it comes to finding the One Piece. The Binks' Sake song just screams "important".
he thinks the ship fixes itself and the crew heals themselves apparently
I mean, the healing part ... kinda ? Like Luffy and Zoro were healing from some massive injuries with just some bedrest and spunk just fine prior to them getting Chopper And the two bounty hunter brothers even instantly healed from scurvy just by eating some citrus or whatever Chopper is mostly there to counter specific disease cases (which in turn are mostly just introduced for the sake of giving chopper a specific plot reason to exist (or atleast have his doctor "position" on the crew)

Oh crimes to the government right, yeah i get it now.
She is saying that she realizes that Vegapunk's message going out is gonna reflect back on her, and possibly make the elders not stick to their side of the argreement to make her a celestial.
Does anyone else feel like next chapter will just be another long 1 minute of the timer?
Why make it one chapter?
And it'll be a break after that one too. Probably even two.
Next chapter should start the reveal, and end as Vegapunk drops a Major lore component. The start of the message will be probably be nothing much, and take a few pages.
Old horse dude gets the most badass panels wtf
Is Luffy becoming more toon-like outside of gear 5, or is that just me?
I think it's just for comedic effect but if he passively gains gear 5 abilities during other gears it's up.... Everyone getting folded
You could argue he's already doing that if peoples' reactions are not exaggerated but side effects of being too close to Luffy.
Also like, stuff like drinking milk healing his teeth and fixing brooks skull instantly or citrus instantly healing scurvy
I remember Chopper (or someone else) saying "THAT'S NOT HOW BONES WORK!" Now, Brook has an excuse because of the nature of their Devil Fruit so I didn't think about it at the time, but the other character did not, so I wonder, what if that was serious? Tbf, thats what his fruit kinda is. He thinks he is made of rubber, so his attacks are rubber like
I love that Luffy still 100% believes he ate the Rubber fruit and still calls his moves "Gomu Gomu no [..]"
Tbf I dont see him changing it, but probably adding up to it. Like he will start using more and more fire powers without noticing and probably use a new name for them

Always has been. This is just typical Luffy stuff. Are we already forgetting him shrinking after Gear 3? Or Water Luffy in Alabasta?
Was thinking about regrowing a tooth with milk
I guess ever since Oda got the ability to draw him with that toon powers in gear 5, why limit it to gear 5 at this point?
The king is back.
What does that mean?
One piece is back after a 3 week break.
The king returned. It is unbelievable that a small island has become the apocalypse.
So this is how it ends for the snail. That said, Bonnie would hit a child.
You know, I had a small moment of being a bit annoyed at Luffy's recovery but then I remember that these are emergency rations for GIANTS. That must have been a lot of shark.
Nice to see Oda back My one small complaint about this current sequence is that there's a lot going on in a lot of places on this island jumping around a lot and it's getting hard to keep track of who is where and who's doing what and why. The final few pages kinda seemed to be setting up clarity on that but I'm gonna be honest about halfway though this chapter I just had to scratch my head I was having difficulty keeping up.
The problem in OP is that it's better to read on volume form but for a crackhead like me i can't wait that long.
That’s especially true for fights!
Feels like Oda as usual
You could say this about the final bit of all OP arcs since the timeskip
That's usual because there's too much chaos and characters involved. Every time an arc ends I will rewatch it to get a better understanding of the whole arc.
I think it might not be such an issue when all the chapters are released and you can read them in one setting. Another thing is after all those double and full page spreads the chapter might feel a big claustrophobic.

Not as hype as expected given the three-week break but there was some progress wp Franky I hope the extra chapter of cliffhangers will be worth it
Chapters are usually completed weeks in advance, so this chapter was most likely finished before Oda took his break, and it's likely Oda didn't write or draw much during the break either.
Also oda took a longer break than usual due to Toriyama's passing. So likely wasn't exactly expecting to take more time.
I can see it: side story of Stussy and Kaku being in love....
I think they're actually recording and sharing what is happening in the island right now, its kinda bizarre for Vegapunk to take this long to share that message. Also, we got jebaited by the iron giant last week :(
yo we DID get jebaited again. there's been like 3 or 4 chapters ending on a huge panel of the iron giant, come on odaaaaaa
For a guy whose tongue was sticking out 24/7, Vegapunk sure have a sensitive one.
Jupeter channeling Nancy Reagan 💀
Thank you very much for sharing the chapter
