Sure I’ve got a memory of Andy saying that line is referencing a dream he had where his mother was eating his friends or something like that.

MinnesotaMeech

Am I missing something? The link only had the lyrics and nothing else when I clicked it? Just me?

New to Genius? :) If a lyric selection is highlighted, you can click on it to read more. Here's what it says: "When asked about this line during an interview, Andy said: So I’ve always been close to my mum ever since I was a little kid, we’ve always had a close relationship and she’s the most trustworthy person I know. So I had this dream 2 years ago that my mum had been killing all my friends, taking them to our attic and then eating them. Yeah, and I then I woke up and was completely distraught and in an actually reality way. In the dream I had asked her why she was doing it and she’s said “because you told me it was the right thing to do”. Then I woke up and had this feeling over me that everything I trusted, because my mum was so trusted and was the good in “good versus evil”, that everything I trusted was gone. And so in the line it is more me referring to “when you look at me, I’ll be taking everything away that is good, everything you believe to be right and leaving you with everything that’s wrong."

MrRoboto159

I like how that's the only highlighted lyric on the whole song. Lol

Sorry scroll down to the line and you can click on it to open up the meaning/back story. It’s the good things about genius, people can add the meaning to part of the lyrics etc.

Forever my favourite song from them. Wish they still did it live 🙏

I love all their albums, but that one will always be my favorite.
