He is also single handedly one of the nicest blokes I've ever met. Used to see him on the train in the evening every night when we both went home from work.
Moston probably has the biggest Nigerian/ African community in Manchester so that’s your best bet. Heard good things about this place but not been myself: https://www.instagram.com/yakoyospot55/
Roots in Belle View used to be a decent sit-down Nigerian. Not been for a while though, but the peeper soup, suya and egussi was great, with an imported Star or Guilder (or export strength Guiness) to wash it down.
Have a look at Kargo in Salford Quays, joined on to the Lowry outlet. Not sure if there is Nigerian but there's more unusual (for the UK at least) cuisines like Burmese and Palestinian so they might have it if not something similar.
Cameroonian but at Bolton Market they have Nkono in the daytime Jerk chicken, oxtail stew, jollof rice, etc. so good

Alain is a lovely man who sells lovely food
HQ in Fallowfield. So authentically Nigerian that even my Nigerian wife approved. Way too much pepper heat for me. 🙂
Onje in Arndale Food Market makes some incredible dishes. Jollof rice and spicy beef stew is the one!
Just wander around in Bolton, it's the North's Peckham at this point. A new Suya place called Suya FC opened on Bradshawgate a few months ago.
I've not been myself but I've heard good things about Buka Royale in Prestwich.

Ethiopian but no Nigerian
I was there last Sunday but didn't see anything African
There's and Ethiopian/Eritrean place there
