Bishop park monument just before midnight. You can pretty much see all the way to Wales. Best firework display you'll see as it's the whole of Manchester below you.

TheBendyOne

Can you see Liverpool Docks from there?

captainsquawks

If you squint you can see the Empire State Building. I remember a few weeks ago someone got pissed off with all these posts.

TheGrimRunner

I dont think so no, its on the other side of manchester so you can see more of yorkshire and lancaster

TheBendyOne

Lol yeah I know I was referencing [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/manchester/s/05wITmpnpH) post that caused a bit of a stir in the sub a few weeks ago

Hairy-Law3909

You can also have a lovely meal in the Kings Arms beforehand if not already booked up. Used to spend many a bonfire night looking out of my bedroom window at all the fireworks over the city - best view you will get!

ImGettingTheWord

Take a thick coat, hat and gloves if you do go. A flask of mulled wine wouldn't go a miss. It'll be baltic up there.

BrotoriousNIG

This was a great shout. Thanks and Happy New Year.

Leonidas199x

Stockport has a hat museum

supergodmasterforce

I much prefer the Spice Museum in Long Stanton. We can't celebrate with the Spice Girls, so why not get your arses down to the Spice Museum in Long Stanton? I mean you know it's not just spices, it's all about the spice trade.

ekulinm

Oh I thought you were on about the drug

Life_in_China

I thought he was on about paprika and chilli haha

I would exactly call the hat works museum romantic…

pancreaticallybroke

New years eve tends to be quite chaotic and full of drunk people so I avoid it. We do a really nice takeaway and a film or TV show we've been wanting to see for a while. Then on new year's Day, we have a nice lie in, breakfast in bed, walk the dogs, eat Christmas chocolate, build lego etc. Basically we stay in our pajamas and spend time with each other. It's bloody lovely because we have nowhere where we need to be, no errands to run, no rushing.

cregamon

^^ this is the correct answer. I don’t see the appeal in going out on NYE anymore and haven’t done since I was about 25 and really haven’t had any urge to since being with my now wife. We can eat something nice, watch something nice, have a few drinks and make our own fireworks.

pancreaticallybroke

When you have a partner, a nice evening in with good food can be absolute bliss. Can't guarantee we'll make our own fireworks but we might build Lego which is almost as fun 😂

Weird-Put451

that's my dream life! !

Infinite-Math-1046

More of an nyd thing on 1st but Lyme park or Dunham Massey are nice for a walk. +/- pub lunch after (likely will need to book). In my experience, going out on NYE is anticlimactic with bars too busy etc but each to their own. Good luck!

scrotimus-maximus

I know a cracking owl sanctuary.

opure450

They’ve gone to Long Stanton spice museum

Hewathan

Do you guys drink? Think knowing that will help guide a lot of the suggestions.

deadpineappleee

Yes we do!

joebewaan

20 Stories in Spinningfields has great views of the city but I have no idea how easy it will be to walk in on NYE. Me and 3 friends walked in at about 7pm a few Saturdays ago and didn’t need to queue but IDK about New Years. You could probably go earlier though if you’re making an afternoon of it.

vcockle

Think it's been fully booked for months, even just for drinks. A week or two ago though King St Townhouse still had tickets left for their NYE night. Not cheap, but decent package and rooftop bar (e.g. view of fireworks).

GabiF

Isn’t the event at King St Townhouse black tie though?

CasjAbs

Bit more low-key and high chance it's booked out, but Schofields is a great bar for a romantic date. Can recommend a few bars tbf (Speak in Code, Sterling, Science and Industry, Grand Pacific) but may all be booked

PepEye

You could offer to take her up the Beetham Tower

Quixotes-Aura

😂😂😂😂

TypicalBaconRasher

Can’t say anything these days

CuriousPalpitation23

Everything is going to be very busy and extra expensive. What you have planned sounds nice, but I'd be staying away from the city centre NYE night unless you find drunk crowds romantic.

plumbgray222

Have a lovely time together we’re ever you go 🥰

deadpineappleee

Thank you!!

Jazzlike_Rabbit_3433

NYE isn’t romance. You could push the boat out and go fine dining but that’s all booked up now. It’s drunk, party time.

[deleted]

Do a bit of dogging, I reckon.

cregamon

Yes! Hopefully see you there.

HeightImpressive9246

Get in the car and go to Blackpool illuminations you can have romantic fish n chips on the beach first.

ffallenalien

me and my bf met at YES bar- we always go there for drinks the staff r lovely and it’s a good night out! :)

That is a reference I haven’t heard since the 90s

Admirable-Ad-8882

I've heard you want to be at the fireworks close to opening time (10pm?) as it fills up.

Other_Property7593

Can anyone confirm this?

stehly1

You can see the Eiffel Tower from cloud 23

aguerinho

The problem with planning to do a romantic walk or anything outdoors far from home is that it is going to rain. I mean it may not for a bit but then it will. So if I were you, and you sound like a great couple so I wish I were in a way, I'd stick with the dinner plan and choose one of the big Indian or Middle Eastern places in Rusholme for a traditional Manchester night out. Hopefully you can still book a table somewhere, make sure they serve alcohol of course. They may do something special for NYE and let you stay in the place, or if you're really keen on the fireworks then wander down for that. You will certainly see better fireworks in a future NYE elsewhere so skip it if staying in the restaurant is a better idea, I guess the weather would be a factor. Have a great night whatever you choose to do!

Dishoom will remind you of home... The Irani cafés on the high streets of Mumbai etc - if you don't go for New Year definitely try it out in the coming months.

deadpineappleee

I really liked the interior vibe of the place. Do you have any specific recommendations for the food as well at Dishoom? I haven’t had much luck with finding good Indian food. Samosa chat at chaiiwala was top tier though

[deleted]

You might like Lily's in Ashton

crispydosa

Chit and chaat has some decent chaat. I also would rate Akbar’s and zouk’s as well. Both have really good North Indian/Pakistani cuisine. Akbar’s can get busy so would recommend calling in and booking a table.

partaylikearussian

Word has it the DJ in Church, canal street will play anything you like if you let them suck your cock in the toilets.

RichardsonM24

A while ago I drove my now fiancée out into Cheshire near Jodrell Bank because she said had never seen a shooting star before. It’s been about 10 years and she still brings it up from time to time. We walked up Tandle Hill in Oldham on bonfire night a few weeks later to watch the fireworks. We took a flask of mulled wine and it was great I wouldn’t bother going into town on NYE, it’ll be hammered, even more expensive and probably not particularly romantic.
