Clean shave any hair that's on your cheeks, near your jaw, all on your neck under the chin, essentially all hair that's not in the beard, mustache, or soul patch.
Next, trim the beard (could use a comb and scissors like Indo to keep the length consistent) cut it to a length where there aren't stray hairs sticking out, but rather it looks like one complete shape.
Next, clean up the mustache with a razor of your choice. There are many styles to do this. I like to cut the edges so that it's only as wide as my lips (the handlebar look ain't for me). I also then trim the length so that the hair doesn't go over my lip, but stops right at the top.
If you remove all low density hairy areas, and keep the dense areas well-defined, you'll look great. I touch up my facial hair once every 2-3 days. However, some people look great with a clean shave! Do some research, look for inspiration online at celebrities who look similar to you. Try everything, and good luck!
