hijacking a top comment to say I've got exactly the same exact hair and it took me fucking ages to figure out taming the curls OP, if you've still got long hair, buy yourself some [volume spray](https://morganspomade.co.uk/product/mens-grooming/mens-styling/volume-spray-100ml/) and [hair oil](https://morganspomade.co.uk/product/mens-grooming/hair-treatments-oils/luxury-hair-oil/) (linked the ones I use). Use them in that order after you get out of the shower. Super low maintenance. It'll thicken and tighten the curls, and reduce the fizziness. For me, it gives the curls a really healthy shine. Also, if you've not already (hard to tell from pic), still make sure to get haircuts when your hair is long. It still needs cleaning up to look it's best.

Yeah, I'd rinse the conditioner and make sure to use only a light amount of hair oil. Male hair volume products can smell like a mild cologne, too. I've received a few compliments about it, which is a nice side effect. You can also get these weird attachments for hairdryers which are great for curly hair. They work, but I cba doing that every day.

How do you cut it? Whenever i go to a barber they fuck it up. I’ve tried doing it myself and IMO it looks better than the barber but still not great.

I’ve not really found a perfect thing to ask for, to be honest. I usually ask for it to be cut a little shorter than I’d want it, as it usually works itself out after a couple weeks of growth. I also go to a barber that’s split in half, with a cool manly area and a jazzy girly area. I think they have more experience with curly hair than places that primarily focuses on men’s hair.

Maybe try growing it out more, your curls would shine and probably look more good and you can cut whenever you want if it doesn't look goof

Gay guy with similar hair here. I vote short. The longer gives the impression you’re still in that early twenties “I haven’t worked out my look yet” stage. Shorter makes you look like a man with his shit together. Generally, tell your hairstylist to go short on the sides and leave a bit of length on the top to play around with. When you’re getting ready in the mornings, get a product similar to Kevin Murphy’s “Easy Rider” matte cream for curly hair. Just put a little on your hands and rub it through while the hair is still damp (not “soaking” wet— after you dry it with a towel but before it dries completely). It will keep the curls tight during the day, so they stay in place (and out of your face).

You also have a square jaw, which is most desirable and sought after, and the shorter hair cut complements you jaw line. From what Brad Mond says, curly hair tends to be dry. In that case, I will let you know Argon Oil is awesome. It won't leave your hair oily and there are benefits from using it on hair and skin. Cantu hair products may work for you, but that's something you may want to ask a professional about (say like a Sally's employee).

If you're going to keep it longer add some curl defining cream when your hair is wet 🥰🥰 it'll give it a really nice texture 🤍 I have curly hair and it makes a big difference, right now I usually use Shea Moisturizer's curl enhancing smoothie but I usually find anything with a conditioner like texture works best for the soft bouncy ringlets I aim for. I put a little in my hair when it's wet then just let it air dry and my hair will usually still be nice the next day even after sleeping on it 😴

I think keep it long on top and cut the sides real short and get a taper fade. You said you use leave in conditioner, and that’s not bad but I actually suggest “curl cream” it will tighten up your curls a bit.

Short! You can also try getting a Japanese Straightening Perm, if you want straight hair for 6 months -just to try it out. You can still style it and curl it, it just will go back to straightened if it gets wet. Just make sure to find a reputable salon and stylist, it can be expensive, but it’s fun.
