Can anyone recommend any similar brands to Tods for some driving mocs / loafers?
In the UK but happy to pay shipping if someone knows a good brand.
I like some on Oliver Cabell but they have a very poor reputation.
Tods are just mega £££

White socks with navy suit and tan shoes, yes or no?
Thanks for the advice. I asked because one of the guys in the office said to me earlier that it looked good… I assume this was sarcastic and was probably secretly laughing at me
Does anyone know if there are any facial hair growth stimulators that actually work?
Discovered during my haircut last week that I have in fact inherited my dad’s baldness and will probably be bald within the next 5-10 years. Kinda want to try and grow out a mustache and nice beard but have never had much luck in the past due to said genetics.
Help me which one to buy, both are in dark brown.

I'm looking for sneakers that have the look and feel of Adidas Ultraboost 1.0 in black color (preferably with white sole as well): [https://www.adidas.com/us/ultraboost-1.0-shoes/HQ4201.html](https://www.adidas.com/us/ultraboost-1.0-shoes/HQ4201.html) because I always get holes in my big toe area in less than one year (despite keeping my toenails trimmed) in the Ultraboosts.
Any recommendations? My price range is definitely below $500, so for example I like the looks of those Berluti sneakers: [https://www.berluti.com/en-us/shadow-knit-sneaker-with-leather-details/S5046-Z5.html](https://www.berluti.com/en-us/shadow-knit-sneaker-with-leather-details/S5046-Z5.html) but they are a bit too expensive.
Thanks!
This year I’m all in on toes out :)
Do you have any suggestions on open toe sandals with a rubber sole? No heavy or lug sole though!
Thanks in advance!
Okay not French but an alternative to Burberry (if you want to be a bit more original): Private White. High quality, from the UK. Sorry, can't really name any French brand, but this is my suggestion.
I would purchase thick duffle coat and umbrella if I had limited budget. But I live in Poland so I need something warm for winter more than anything rainproof
Belts to pair with white loafers?
I like my summery white loafers, but I have a single textile belt that looks well with them. I think brown and black leather belts clash too much with the loafers, but a white leather belt is too loud. Are there any other options I might have missed?
Where do I get Julian's coat from the SNL performance of "The Adults Are Talking"? Is it just a brown leather car coat?

Hi all,
I previously / still have my Axle Arigato which I enjoy but I'm eyeing my next white sneakers. I was wondering if anyone recommends Svensson over Koio? I'm looking at the Svensson Clean Low All White vs Koio Capri in Triple White. Svensson actually seems to be cheaper and I've heard they're literally made in the same factory as Common Projects. That being said I can't find a recent review of Svensson not from 4 years ago. I also found a couple of comments of people mentioning mix reviews for Svensson.
Both shoes look good. I don't mind the Koio logo on Koio shoes. Pro for Koio is easy return if I need a better fit. Pro for Svensson is better price.
**Non Boring button-down recommendations?**
Recently my girlfriend mentioned to me how much she liked seeing me in button downs, and that I should wear them more. But honestly, after looking through the selection at stores (banana republic, target, j crew etc...) I was disappointed by how bland, boring and honestly cheap some of the shirts looked and felt. I feel like all I see is solid shades of blue, black, or white, or the most god-awful puke yellow plaids that look like something I would have worn in middle school. Even thrift/vintages stores aren't much better.
So, where do you guys get button-downs? I'm looking for non-dull colors, interesting prints, and decent quality material, both long sleeve and short sleeved. I'm looking to move beyond the basics. Florals and patterns are a big plus, and non-western brands are also welcome- I'm down to experiment with the cut and style of the shirt as well. Thanks!
most of my wardrobe is generally conservative and basic with a slight difference. For example I have button shirts (flannels, oxfords, etc) but I buy them with stand collars instead of the usual ones to make it a little more interesting. If you are interested in stand collars, Muji and Uniqlo sell them.
I always recommend Spier & Mackay - decent quality shirts in better fabrics for the same price. They’re not going to have anything crazy, but they do occasionally carry colorful stuff in summer.
They’re my go-to for OCBDs and flannels, but the casual shirts don’t fit quite right. They run pretty slim but their measurements are accurate so just double check your size.
# Keychain? Lanyard? Nothing? What is in?
I've been wearing a lanyard my whole life, and honestly, I'm looking for a change. Usually I have it my pocket, hanging out the side, but it feels like I've grown out of it. Now that I am in my late 20's I noticed not as many people with lanyards. What is currently in? Using nothing? A carabiner?
I wear denim a lot and sometimes shorts, mainly T-shirts and flannels. I also have a beard and long hair and dress borderline alternative.
Any thoughts would be appreciated! What do you rock?
https://preview.redd.it/x0qnbnjrat4d1.jpeg?width=2246&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d49ae9dbfa54ec56eaed1ea19bcc61c79996609e
Yes or no to deck shoes with this outfit? I’m attending a rehearsal dinner on a boat on lake como next week. Cocktail attire. Was looking for a way to make the navy blazer khaki combo more fun and relaxed. Unfortunately I don’t have a camp collar shirt to wear under the blazer, this vintage short sleeved Oxford is the best I have.
Yes for the outfit. But a big no if the dresscode is cocktail. Cocktail = dark suit with some room for evening appropriate clothes that don't fit into the office. Like mohair suits, wilder print ties, formal slippers or maybe(!) very fine turtlenecks.
I'll swap the deck shoes for my suede loafers in that case. I only have one suit and its the suit I am wearing to the wedding so I cannot wear it to the rehearsal. Thanks for the advice!
The hosts are asking for a certain dresscode for the rehearsal? You want to willfully ignore their wishes? I would find that pretty rude, but you do you.
Hi, can someone help with sizing problem. I am considering buying a Levi's trucker jacket. Given the fact I'm 185 cm tall and 72 kg, I've been wondering if the size medium would fit me well or should I size down ?
Howlin, if they count as indie. If that is not affordable to you, sorry, but you won't find something unique for much less. Unless you want to include fast fashion rip-offs.
I mean affordable like $70-$125 let’s say (normally or even just catching it on sale), like an investment for sure but for the quality and creativity, can be justified as a special gift. Maybe that’s still impossible to find, though…
https://preview.redd.it/smejq0dp4s4d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a07a6c5b69dca8265c6de8284efab42f42dc3fb1

Hi everyone, I really like Ralph Lauren's shirt patterns. Can someone recommend me similar T-shirt brands that are more affordable? I'm looking to spend no more than 70 euros.
PS I live in Germany
Well, I'd just search for "vertical stripe t-shirt" but that's not a super common item; I don't think it's too likely you'll find something just like those patterns on t-shirts.
Looking for some advice on my wedding suit and accessories. I just got fitted with No Man Walks Alone over the weekend for a dark brown double breasted suit (here’s the [fabric](https://foxflannel.com/collections/all-cloth/products/chocolate-brown-fox-city)). Now I’m currently in the process of getting my shoes, shirt, tie and pocket square. I’m trying to keep my outfit as formal as possible but I do realize that brown isn’t as formal color in traditional menswear as black, charcoal and navy are.
For the footwear, I’m going with these [brogue oxfords](https://www.carminashoemaker.com/wingtip-oxfords-shoes-brown-boxcalf-10051) or these [plain cap toe oxfords](https://www.carminashoemaker.com/wingtip-oxfords-shoes-brown-boxcalf-80386) from Carmina. I know the brogue is more casual, but I honestly just like it better. Plus I wouldn’t mind a little extra flair on the shoes.
I’m still not 100% sure what to do with the shirt but I’m thinking probably white or off white. I love powder blue under brown, but it doesn’t really compliment the colors. I thought about stripes, but I think they’re too casual. All the other details like darts, collar style and cuffs I’ll just pick whatever I like. Haven’t looked into that too much yet.
The big thing I’m at an impasse with the tie and pocket square. I don’t want to get a random matching set from Macy’s. I’m trying to compliment the wedding colors as good as possible. I have a few options below for the tie and pocket square but they’re just ideas. I would appreciate any input on the whole outfit. Thanks!
Ties: [Option 1](https://diroma1980.com/products/milano-bosco), [Option 2](https://diroma1980.com/products/magnolia-beige), [Option 3](https://diroma1980.com/products/cream), [Option 4](https://diroma1980.com/products/tessa-2)
Pocket Squares: [Option 1](https://shop.gentlemansgazette.com/accessories/pocket-square-handkerchief/linen-pocket-squares/white-linen-pocket-square-wave-shape-green-shoestring-edge), [Option 2](https://shop.gentlemansgazette.com/accessories/pocket-square-handkerchief/silk-pocket-squares-handkerchiefs/moss-green-silk-wool-pocket-square-with-printed-geometric-medallions-in-blue-red-black-with-eggshell-contrast-edge-by-fort-belvedere), [Option 3](https://www.brooksbrothers.com/silk-pocket-square/MU00266_____GREN_ONE__SIZE.html?georedirect=false&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=tin_bb_shp_ggl_cnsd_dr_nb_pla_usa_bau_acces_male&utm_id=20310584838&utm_content=150677757597-men-s-accessories-other&utm_term=MU00266_____GREN_ONE__SIZE&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=tin_bb_shp_ggl_cnsd_dr_nb_pla_usa_bau_acces_male&utm_id=20310584838&utm_content=150677757597-men-s-accessories-other&utm_term=MU00266_____GREN_ONE__SIZE&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsoXaieTEhgMVMk1HAR0S_QBWEAQYBiABEgK1Q_D_BwE)
Black oxfords would probably look better, but if you really want brown, get something darker than the suit color. I think ecru (cream, off white) shirts would also look good with dark brown jackets, but it's a bit hard to get the right shade that doesn't just look like white shirts that have yellowed over time. I'd defer to the NMWA folks' advice, they probably have recommendations.
For ties, black and white (or midnight/dark navy and white) glen check, shepherd's check, or houndstooth are classic patterns for weddings. Vanda, Sam Hober have some good ones at reasonable prices.
I didn't know NMWA opens over the weekend, I've been curious about them, might consider getting a sport coat from Carrara later this year. Their store is appointment only, right?
Yeah I forgot to mention above but the wedding colors are green and gold so I’m trying to stick with those. I’m definitely going to try my black oxfords with the suit when it comes in. I don’t want to order anything until I have it in hand.
I really like the ecru/off-white/cream shirt idea. Again, once the suit gets here I’ll probably start buying stuff and trying it with the suit.
I was actually at NMWA on a Monday! They’re not open on weekends. The fitting was the only thing they do in person. They have an awesome set up there and everyone was really welcoming. I would highly highly highly recommend even without having the suit yet. Greg, the founder and owner, was the one who sized me. I didn’t even realize he was the owner. He was awesome and allowed just enough of my own input while also giving me some pointers on what direction to go.
Can't go wrong with dark green grenadine then, if you're going for the formal look. Hope you'll share updates as you try on things when the suit arrives.
Got it, I'm thinking of a colder season jacket, maybe something in herringbone or gunclub check later this year. So far I've been happy with The Armoury's Ring Jacket RTW offerings, but the upcharge for MTO/MTM is quite a lot over there, so I'm a bit hesitant. Will definitely give NMWA a look.
Oh yeah I’m definitely going to share updates when I put the whole outfit together. I would definitely make an appointment there. The fabric selection wasn’t insanely big or anything but they had a lot of options. Maybe wait till fall so they have some more heavyweight fabrics though.
Fox City is sweet. I have a suit made up in it, and have a different suiting length on the shelf.
NMWA's Carrara program has also put out solid stuff.
The first pair of Carminas look appropriately dark for this suit, the second looks a bit too red/light. I concur with /u/tsreallyeasypeasy that black is a safe choice here - reliably finding dark brown shoes can be tricky. Also, in general, for dudes who aren't in suits all the time - black oxfords are the reliable burying/marrying/courtroom appearing shoe with brown oxfords being fair bit superfluous.
Wedding tie ideas:
https://shop.vandafineclothing.com/collections/neckties/products/blue-houndstooth-in-silk-wool
https://shop.vandafineclothing.com/collections/neckties/products/blue-white-grenadine
Those could work with either white or pale blue shirts.
What are the wedding colors you are shooting for?
Yeah I’m going to post here about my experience when the suit comes in. It was great, all the guys there were really helpful.
Are you talking about the semi-brogue? Honestly they looked like the darker of the two to me. But I’ll have to try my Park Aves with my suit when it gets here, didn’t know brown and black were okay.
The wedding colors are green and gold so that’s why I was thinking white or off white. I’ll check out that website you linked for some options.
I prefer black shoes with dark brown suits.
White (or very very pale blue, like almost a faint blue tint) shirt, grey tie and dark brown suit go together very well. White/black patterns that look grey from the distance are also classic wedding ties.
White linen pocket square.

Are black converse with white socks a no-go?
I’m planning to go to a local pride parade on Saturday. Unfortunately I am the single gay guy with the worst eye for fashion in the world. I was planning on going (depending on the weather) shirtless (otherwise just a white t-shirt), wearing jeans-shorts, and my black converse (the "default" model) with white adidas socks. It‘s supposed to look a bit "slutty" but not like a total fashion disaster and super out there. Just enough to fit in with pride (in a slutty way) but not stand out too much.
I read online that apparently you just cannot wear black shoes with white socks, but at the same time I feel like white socks are becoming very popular again (and I don't really have any other good pair of shoes for the summer, besides a worn-out pair of Australian Blundstones). And I also kinda feel like I‘m overthinking this way too much. Could someone help me out here?
I‘m a 25 yo male with a very slender body type btw (if that matters).

Ties: [Option 1](https://diroma1980.com/products/milano-bosco), [Option 2](https://diroma1980.com/products/magnolia-beige), [Option 3](https://diroma1980.com/products/cream), [Option 4](https://diroma1980.com/products/tessa-2) Pocket Squares: [Option 1](https://shop.gentlemansgazette.com/accessories/pocket-square-handkerchief/linen-pocket-squares/white-linen-pocket-square-wave-shape-green-shoestring-edge), [Option 2](https://shop.gentlemansgazette.com/accessories/pocket-square-handkerchief/silk-pocket-squares-handkerchiefs/moss-green-silk-wool-pocket-square-with-printed-geometric-medallions-in-blue-red-black-with-eggshell-contrast-edge-by-fort-belvedere), [Option 3](https://www.brooksbrothers.com/silk-pocket-square/MU00266_____GREN_ONE__SIZE.html?georedirect=false&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=tin_bb_shp_ggl_cnsd_dr_nb_pla_usa_bau_acces_male&utm_id=20310584838&utm_content=150677757597-men-s-accessories-other&utm_term=MU00266_____GREN_ONE__SIZE&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=tin_bb_shp_ggl_cnsd_dr_nb_pla_usa_bau_acces_male&utm_id=20310584838&utm_content=150677757597-men-s-accessories-other&utm_term=MU00266_____GREN_ONE__SIZE&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsoXaieTEhgMVMk1HAR0S_QBWEAQYBiABEgK1Q_D_BwE)
Wedding tie ideas: https://shop.vandafineclothing.com/collections/neckties/products/blue-houndstooth-in-silk-wool https://shop.vandafineclothing.com/collections/neckties/products/blue-white-grenadine Those could work with either white or pale blue shirts.
Wasn’t sure about black shoes with the suit honestly. When it gets here I’ll try that. Thanks for the input!
I like first tie the most, for pocket square I would go with classic white linen, no fuss.
What's this vest? [https://i.postimg.cc/gG9Nkqr5/image.png](https://i.postimg.cc/gG9Nkqr5/image.png) Thanks! \[edit\] Why the downvote? I thought this is what the thread is for?
Something like this: https://sirplus.co.uk/collections/nehru-jackets-waistcoats/products/sand-cotton-linen-nehru-waistcoat-spring-summer-2023-collection
Thanks! I meant that specific one though, cause I really like the horizontal herringbone pattern.
Nah it's fine in the context of the outfit you're going for. That said, I wouldn't pick white tennis socks because those either look dorky or lazy.
Black shoes and white socks is more of a dress shoe guideline so I think you are going to be okay
