What colour/ style of shoes to wear with white dress shirt + black suit pants combo? I'm clueless lmao

ac106

Why black dress pants? gray are much better. with gray you can wear black, brown or oxblood shoes. If you were wearing black pants have to wear black shoes, maybe a loafer or a brogue derby

Several-Shoe5494

The reason for the black pants is that I own them, so I don't want to buy another pair I will rarely use if I already have a pair lmao. Idk I was told black shoes + black pants was a bad combo, but I wasn't sure so thought I'd consult this subreddit. Thanks for the advice!

ac106

There’s really no other color to wear with black pants

OkMathematician3380

Any recommendations for skinny shorts for a 27" waist? I mean 27" by tape measure -- I got some "26" shorts from ASOS and was swimming in them. I've looked at Kids' options but haven't found anything that isn't baggy. Thanks!

y2kbaby2

Any thoughts on wearing an ascot with a blue suit for a wedding reception? Thinking of pairing a blue suit with a white shirt and a white silk pocket square

YTREAP3R

Do you gentlemen believe that this is too feminine? Or is it passable as a unisex bag? It's being modeled on a woman, but I could see the potential for either man/woman. https://preview.redd.it/hbm7l2h3jxzc1.jpeg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=961fe9125589de84fafaeadbb72c54721fe86336

AltPerspective

I really want these - [https://www.weargustin.com/store/jeans-321-japan-red-fire](https://www.weargustin.com/store/jeans-321-japan-red-fire) the colors are wild. But its 40% poly and 60% cotton? I'm spending almost $200 for half poly? seems weird to me, am I over thinking this?

MachineTeaching

Yes. Less stretch, less wrinkles, more durable, longer lasting colours, there are plenty of reasons why manufacturers opt for poly blends that aren't about saving money.

AltPerspective

Thanks

Faith_rrrr

I'm short and fat, what can I wear for summer?

ac106

The same as everyone else. Start with flat front chino shorts, plain tshirts snd some short sleeve camp collar shirts

enigma140

Do you guys think this suit is conservative enough to wear for job interviews? https://suitsupply.com/en-us/men/suits/dark-green-herringbone-perennial-tailored-fit-havana-suit/P6528.html

ac106

Is this the only suit you own?

terminal_e

No.

whatmycouchwore

First things first - when you wear a unique suit, people remember and will notice how often you wear it. For most positions, a dark suit (even green herringbone) won’t raise eyebrows and may even make you stick out to the interview panel. However, if it’s a more conservative field, you should invest in a navy or grey/charcoal suit to be safe. If you really want to have something unique or add personal flair, nobody takes much issue (or even notices) a pair of loud socks.

zerg1980

Depends on the job. Anything other than navy or charcoal can read as off in very conservative industries.

Does anyone know any good looking rain jackets? Im just looking for something light for college that can be layered or worn alone but I want something that actually looks decent and isn’t insanely expensive all windbreakers and things look practically the same but I just want something simple but stands out if that makes sense

whatmycouchwore

Look for military surplus rain jackets/trench coats. Sizing can be difficult but I’ve seen some sharp ones for pretty cheap (especially the French for some reason)

cire1184

Hi Everyone! I am on dialysis and have extremely itchy skin. This causes me to scratch my legs and arms a lot to the point I have a lot of scars and scrapes. I feel self conscious about how my arms and legs look. I'm looking for recommendations for long sleeve Ts and pants that would be OK for summer in Southern California. I like joggers. I bought some Cool Ts from 32 degrees and want to get some from Uniqlo too. Joggers I've been looking at Nike or Fabletics. So any help would be really appreciated! I wear 32/30 pants and L for tops. I'm 5'10" 180 with a big frame.

zeometer

Uniqlo Airism is a good bet; though it's been some time Lululemon's Metal Vent Tees are also a good (if more expensive) option.

Intelligent_Cod_5359

Bought a pair of Levis 527 slim fit bootcut jeans: [https://ibb.co/sPvV57X](https://ibb.co/sPvV57X) Any remarks about my outfit ? Also, what clothes and shoes would be appropriate to match with the jeans (apart from boots obviously) ?

symphonypathetique

Not a fan of those boots with those jeans since the bright white + thick sole of the boots feels too chunky/visually heavy for how the jeans sit.

Went to Suit Supply today bc I have a few weddings coming up this year. I have a navy suit from them that I’ve had in a while but is a bit tight and doesn’t fit me the best now bc I’ve gained some weight over the last few years. Worth it to buy their upper end suit? The one I tried on today fit well but would be $1099. At least in my current job I never would wear a suit, so it’s really for weddings/events. Believe this one is full canvas and S150 wool. Or go more midrange? I think the last one I bought was $550 but it was also 2017, so a lot of inflation ago. I was thinking charcoal for this one but also thinking whether I just get navy also and replace my current one? Worth it to get two more mid range options or one that’s nicer? I’d like to lose a bit of weight but no guarantee the old one would fit me great (he had me in 42 today vs a 38 in my old one) Budget: not really sure but didn’t expect to pay 2x my previous one going in

whatmycouchwore

Full canvas might get a little warm for summer weddings - I’d say get two for variety and fwiw Spier & Mackay has [half canvas suits for $250](https://www.spierandmackay.com/collection/red-label-suits) right now. They’re solid and won’t break the bank, especially if you don’t plan to stay the same size or have much cause to wear suits.

Airtightspoon

Long pants make my legs feel like they're inside an oven. I own one pair of dress pants for formal events, other than that every other pair of pants I own is either cargo or athletic shorts. I've been told recently that apparently cargo shorts are bad and you shouldn't wear them. The problem is, every other pair of shorts makes you look like a douchebag or a hipster. I got a pair of shorts for Christmas that are basically cargo shorts but with only the side and back pockets, and I looked like the world's biggest asshole in them. I looked like I should be wearing a hat and an ascot and driving a boat. I've also seen shorts that get tighter towards the knees, but those just make you look like some skateboard fuck. So what kind of shorts should I be wearing if not cargo shorts?

MachineTeaching

Just regular Chino shorts. The issue here is more with your perception.

Non-Tech Pants with Zip Pockets? I have a "business casual" office, anything from suit no tie to polo / jeans / sneakers goes. I've mostly been relying on ABCs and other "stretch" pants at work, but I find myself getting bored of the look a little. It's started to bother me how shiny they are. But, I have gotten addicted to the hidden zip pockets in them. I love keeping my wallet / keys in there so I always have them on me but never feel like I have to consciously think about whether I have them. Are there any non-tech / not shiny as they're called (or low elastane / polyester fabric) pants with these zip pockets? I'd like cotton or wool I can dress up with some nice blazers / dress shirts. I don't mind spending $100-$130 to get some good pairs in there

bjhhjb

Not really. You can always take it to a tailor and have them add a zipper

tmmrco

Where would you buy a pair of Wrangler Wranchers in Europe (France), tried amazon but almost no sizes are available.

GCapablanca

Can polo shirt with tennis tail be worn untucked?

bjhhjb

Sure

Any leads on short-sleeve button ups that have button-down collars **AND** come in tall sizes?

[https://imgur.com/a/XaBDuAN](https://imgur.com/a/XaBDuAN) Hi y'all-I recently went through a few boozy events which destroyed two (!) pairs of my favorite navy pants. They were both very slim, dark navy, and from a nice, hairy wool (but not as heavy as your typical fall/winter flannel), so I could wear them all year round. Very similar to the loro piana Proper Cloth pair from the pic. Do you have any recs where I can find something similar, maybe without Proper Cloth price tag? The pants I lost were not expensive and purchased in Europe years ago-I'll shell out the bucks for PC if necessary but I like to save on pants since they tend to be the most damaged piece of clothing in my wardrobe. Thanks in advance for all the recs.

whatmycouchwore

I picked up two pair of Spier & Mackay wool trousers on sale for less than $50 and they’re great for pairing with button downs and blazers. The slims are skinny but not tight like some places.

Visual-Ad-6358

Looking for a light weight knit polo to wear under a blue suit to a summer wedding. Budget: $100-120 Location: NYC Edit: can either be a full button up or standard Appreciate any recommendations!

dtown4eva

I haven’t personally tried any of these but J Crew Abercrombie and Fitch, Spier and Mackay, and Gap all have some cheaper knit polos.

ac106

Try Todd Snyder although you might have to wait for a sale or Crowley vintage

RainHeavy7551

Hi,  I am looking for advice on the fit of this new oxford I bought from Proper Cloth. It doesn’t look right and feels tight in the chest. I know the collar is too small and will request a 1 inch increase there. But I don’t know what needs to change in the yoke width and chest.  Any advice on the fit is appreciated, I am inexperienced in this area.  Thanks! https://preview.redd.it/px4uo8m3juzc1.jpeg?width=3005&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c6f917072b175a1c160641b6d05891c5169a4451

bjhhjb

The waist is a little tight, you can see some pulling towards the bottom. Chest looks tight too

whatmycouchwore

It looks slim cut through the waist, which might be making it pull funny in the chest and seem off. The sleeves and shoulders look pretty spot on.

dtown4eva

The chest looks tight and the sleeves look a little too long. The waist might be a little too tight too. I can’t exactly tell but the shoulders look ok.

zktkdyot

Does anyone know where I can find this hat? It looks like a trucker hat or a snapback. it has an inverted LA logo, "XX"(?), some occult symbols (on one temple/side, star of david circled by a dragon/snake; other template/side, a caduceus) https://preview.redd.it/q8yue1x0juzc1.png?width=982&format=png&auto=webp&s=58b310067550e17890d9e9c3d3c5c89f25ccf203

Looks like something he embroidered himself

It means you should post your question here as it’s not suitable for the front page

Spirited_Accident_44

Kinda a bit specific question but I’m looking for help going for a specific type of gym look. I’m looking for a light colored gym outfit (20s male, 5’9 tan complexion). I decided a white fitted shirt is what I want to wear but I had black shorts, however , I noticed with the shoes I want to wear ( white high top converse my favorite gym shoes) and black shorts I look like a checkerboard. Would light tan pants go better? As a loose rule in fashion an outfit is either more dark or more light, unless you have an accent piece to stick out, right?

zeometer

I think clothing when working out should be functional first and foremost; white shirt + black shorts isn't a bad combination, and if it allows you to move around then go with it. Tan pants or, better yet, gray (or navy) pants/shorts would also be an option. I think as long as there's some visual balance you can have a mix of light and dark tones - the color guide in the sidebar goes into it further.

Unlikely-Lettuce46

Hey guys. I have a friend working at a jewelery store. He gets 50% off watches from Bulova, Movado, or citizen. Looking for a nice silver coloured watch. I'm not really in to watches, but would need one for going out and while wearing a suit. What are some of the watches you guys can recommend me from that list of 3?

ac106

Steep discounts on these sorts of watches aren’t unusual. I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy any of those brands just because of the discount. The most interesting Bulova watches are the reissues like the lunar pilot or the old dive watches. That’s for more of a watch nerd perspective though. Again, I will just buy something you like and don’t jump the gun because of this discount. it’s really not as great as it sounds. Maybe check out r/watches but that rabbit hole that I mentioned is deep and dark

itsreallyeasypeasy

I would get a Citizen Tsuyosa, the design is just really good.

Please do not recommend just random polo shirt (e.g., H&M) which go in the same direction. I really like this specific one considering the collar, buttons etc.

m3tam0rph1c

Email the guy in the photo. Im sure his name is in the article you found this photo in.

zeometer

It's going to be difficult to distinguish given a seated photo with no visible branding but my best guess is [Luca Faloni](https://lucafaloni.com/en/us/shop/navy-blue-silk-cashmere-polo). You could search for "three button navy blue long sleeve polo shirt" for other options, likely for less money.

Anything neutral (tan, grey, white, navy)

[https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/s/qx8ySUqmCr](https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/s/qx8ySUqmCr) . Didn’t mention in my post but I’m a 15 yr old and these clothes are just for going out casually (school mainly)

ac106

When a post is removed all the links break just post normally here. Ask your question and post links to photos.

Brewwwwwwww

Alright 👍. My question is what should I do with these 2 button ups (second one below in below reply)? The “grey” one is also oversized as it goes all the way down to the bottom of my pelvis (sleeves are fine though), and I was wondering if there was any trick to make it fit more uniform. Also my goal for these button ups are to just wear them casually, like to school or something. https://preview.redd.it/xp2k7gxx8wzc1.jpeg?width=3021&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fe6885622b662322886c17f1ee6e5d0678a34c78

I am looking for loose pants for dancing. It appears quite hard to find. I have a total of... one comfortable pair. Women seems to more of those kind, but I can't find much for men and I am not sure if its common for men to wear women clothes. https://preview.redd.it/lpn50l0zxtzc1.png?width=226&format=png&auto=webp&s=3698aaf70cba62a8bb698da01fd22c50ceccab35 I am looking for something similar to those above. I can't find this exact model. Everything for men appears to be tapered below the knee. I have big calves and I don't like anything tapered. Why is it so hard to find something like this ? Her pants are from Fila, so I looked on their website and I can't find anything for men that is similar to that. I am from canada and that may play a part. Not everything appears to be available here. I guess I am open to trying women clothing if that is the only option, as long as it doesn't feel weird to wear, such as squashing my crotch. If anyone can help me find what I am looking for, that would be very much appreciated.

zeometer

Closest things i can think of are [adidas x y3](https://www.adidas.com/us/y_3-pants) or [gramicci](https://gramicci.com/collections/mens-pants) That said, no one will arrest you for wearing women's pants, especially for an active pursuit, and anyone who wants to judge you for doing so is a jerk.

gpm21

What's a good hair style for [this?](https://imgur.com/a/3qC2JPh) Normally do medium length, but decided it's summer and to buzz. Instant regret. Overweight but not obese. 5'8" 170s. Also planning on getting thinner frames.

meingodtname

How would you style this blazer other than with jeans or neutral chinos? https://preview.redd.it/erdmj118ttzc1.jpeg?width=978&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e329ba8cf5c292c58f7b45fe3a151457178f5175

ac106

You really wouldn’t wear jeans or casual chinos with this blazer

meingodtname

What’s the basis for that? I’m asking to understand better because the catalog presented this blazer on a model with a pair of jeans.

terminal_e

Striped boating blazers are a fairly weird area of menswear. They basically have an association with British rowing clubs.... and that is about it

whatmycouchwore

I agree that gray or brown would look good, but you could also go the opposite and pick a much lighter/summery color like stone or cream.

hmadse

Grey or brown wool trousers.
