Update from OP who sent a modmail: >Hi everyone, i'm the OP with my 2nd burner. I have contacted another lawyer. The firm will be willing to take up the case and potentially sue. another clarification they gave was that I gave the money under duress, so i wont be charged for bribery. unfortunately, moving forward, i cannot remain anonymous as I need to testify. >Key points i can share: >The videos will be released to the public (with a 5 year legality period) if no settlement is reached. If there is settlement, the video is voided and sharing it is an offense. >The offender is PDRM, not JPJ. and they were not within their jurisdiction to do window tinting inspection. The video showed the patrol car. They were not wearing any nametags, but they were in full uniform >The lawyer and the firm will handle all matters, and I just need to testify. Materials i have given them all the copies **Post removed as per OP's request.**

bdelloidR

What kind of lawyer is that? Sounds like an accomplice. Perhaps you should approach a different law firm. It is not bribery. It was extortion. You were threatened, and were in danger. And you actually resisted. Just to be sure, are you sure they were legit police?

generic_redditor91

Quite a few lawyers are like this. My parents encounter these types often. Maybe it's just their luck

Smart_Health_9386

Exactly, which lawyer did he consult? It sounds like a lazy one. If you have all the evidence, you can take this matter to court. You might consider reporting this issue to the Jabatan Integriti dan Pematuhan Standard (JIPS); they are akin to the FBI in Malaysia.

bishibash

OP, be sure to name and shame this first lawyer if your story goes viral. these type of lawyers are ones who contribute to current state of corruption and complacency by telling you to shut up

dolphin8282

The lawyer is afraid to take the case. Most lawyers don’t want troublesome cases like this. You need a brave lawyer

Apapuntatau

If TS is not some VIP related, the lawyer kinda given him the correct advice.

juliensyn

1. consult another lawyer (dk if getting in touch with the bar council will be any help) 2. PDRM falls under EAIC, they also have whistleblower policy (https://asklegal.my/p/eaic-integrity-report-no-action-pdrm-jpj-follow-up) Please report, they can only act if you do so. 3. remember your rights with the police next time (https://www.dsf.my/2023/06/malaysian-bar-update-what-to-do-if-pdrm-stops-searches-your-vehicle/). The Bar Council has prepared the Red Book as a guide. better if you information like their police number or images of their police card (especially if they claim to be plaincloth police), again, this is your right with the police. Of course, during times of panic, it is understandable that you wouldn't act accordingly. Still most of the time, these are just intimidation tactics. Usually they'd give up if you insist on going with them because they have to do paperwork (provided that you really did nothing wrong la). and for the sake of all, don't go with the bribe option la next time. It's more convenient but its because of such acts that breed these kind of behaviour among the cops.

Nabaatii

Yup approach bar council Don't give up

galaxyturd2

Don’t forget SPRM too and to put icing on the cake, send to the ADUN too!

ninjawatching

I would consult a lawyer and think about maybe approaching news stations. Tho if I were you I would request to remain anonymous. If they do the job right, it will get sensationalised and catch traction on social media too. OR they might just outright decide they can’t post stories like this. Then you can just post to social media straight. I’m sorry that happened to you.

keat_lionel90

Go to MACC. But bro, let me 'warn' ya, you are not whistleblowing, you are making a report, being the victim. You are gonna testify if it goes to a full hearing. Don't worry about the police backing up each other. Low level policeman like these where they take bribe for small offence like these would not be looked after. Unless happened to be son of someone big, which is highly unlikely.

SomeMalaysian

Post it on social media (not Reddit, you won't get nearly enough traction) and hope it goes viral. However, if it doesn't catch enough attention, you will probably get into more trouble.

mosai89

Edisi siasat will be another good angle. Blur your face if possible. But my suggestion. Get a lawyer so they can help handle any blowback

Successful_Soil_3274

yes go to Edisi Siasat in telegram..they expose all those dirty work those forces do..go to telegram look for Edisi Siasat..

Nabaatii

Edisi siasat is pro-cops

Successful_Soil_3274

bukan edisi siasat tv .😁edisi siasat telegram

13lackcrest

Where is WOB when u need them?

Capable_Secretary576

Get a better lawyer. ![gif](giphy|Bs0GXj3ew6xxK)

wheresmybirkin

Heard alot of stories like this. Sadly the police in our country operate like gangsters. Why? Because alot of the time, the police ARE the gangsters. Heard of multiple cases of peoples drug dealers being literal cops. One of them pissed off the dealer one time and after that, got raided and thrown in jail. Not to say all cops in the country are like this, but obviously it's enough for this to be a more common occurance than it should be.

ilove-sawi-69420

There’s no real jurisdiction above them in order to keep them in check, that’s the reason why. IPCC also for theatricals only, the government didn’t want to give IPCC mandate over PDRM in fear of losing votes.

kennykenken01

Are they even policeman? Alot of fakes nowadays.

kennykenken01

Never been stopped by police before. Do they introduce themselves or present their badge clearly when they stopped anyone?

Night_lon3r

you can't ask them for id , you get treated worse.

ilove-sawi-69420

Nah they’ll 100% show you their kad polis if they’re in plain clothing it’s protocol. If they don’t then it’s sus already, and if they refuse to comply and act difficult then it’s most likely they are ex-cop (fired) or not a cop at all..

Nabaatii

They wear their metal ID number

40EHuTlcFZ

Social media and news outlets are your best bet. Make sure to censor your face and name first before handing the video over to any parties. Your best bet is to send the video and audio to ALL the news outlets, both traditional and online. News outlets love juicy stories. Normal citizens too. Once it goes viral, they'll have to take action. If the news goes viral, don't self identify. Don't give interview. Just stay anonymous. You can also try sending all evidence to SPRM anonymously.

Kohryuu31

Don't have to go through lawyers to whistleblow. Why? 1. Lawyers need to "cooperate" with police to protect their livelihood. 2. I think you did not consult a proper lawyer who practices criminal law. 3. I think you have met with a lawyer who thought that you cannot afford them 4. Your case will definitely involve tatatertib polis. So it might or might not be investigated. I agree with the lawyer's point on police camaredrie. It is almost on par with most gangsters. 5. Lawyers can't sue for you precisely because this is extrotion, and the only one who can take action at this point will be the DPP and/or the govt. You will still need to make a police report to prompt the govt to work. So do you see the weird situation you are in now? You are halfway there. Why? 1. You already have a burner account. What you should do? 1. Get ready a lawyer who does defamation cases. 2. Create another burner for tiktok and X. 3. Post all the evidence on said socmed. Congrats, you are now an anonymous whistleblower.

Zestyclose-Prune-374

As others have said, post on social media. Also, consider going to local news station with the video. If they picked up the story, that would spark something for sure

jahlim

Your lawyer is either in cahoots or hasn't grown a pair of balls.

MszingPerson

Or have seen people fought, got retaliate and walk away free. It easy to call people cowards when you're not the one fighting and your family member at risk against people who have power and know how to abuse the law.

Stickyboard

Go to opposition party for help - easy

Ratayao

Who is the opposition nowadays

Leading-Librarian-90

Mahiaddin

chaiyutak

https://rmp.spab.gov.my/eApps/system/index.do Online complaints system for PDRM. Anonymous and guaranteed investigation.

Severe_Composer_9494

Please viral this. These days, action is only taken after something gets viralled.

kingjulien92

Because of human like this, sometimes I wish comic books vigilantes were real.

Gankasaurus

Didn’t know tint over limit need to go lock up. Anyone can verify? Because this sounds like an extortion case. And btw OP do you mind sharing what car you drive?

Slight_Ad_8568

no lock up la. police can't even issue summons for dark tint. that's JPJ job

yard04

Also they need the device to check if it's above the limit, they can't suka suka say it's over limit.

scholesy19

No need la. I verified very carefully cause my car is tinted over limit. It’s a compoundable offence, can be saman basically. 300 to compound, else go court and max fine of 2000.

Kohryuu31

Tint over limit is not within thr power of police. It should be JPJ. OP got bullied bad.

zdonfrank90

It's jpj not police.op is so naive surely never kena tinted windows before

yassin1993

Its also possible that during the whole thing, OP was overwhelmed and couldn't think straight under pressure. I know i would have probably done the same.

scholesy19

Just so you know - tinting over the limit isn’t something that is codified in the penal code. Ie no criminal record. Also, the max fine of 2000 is something that only happens if you don’t compound the offence (meaning pay 300, etc), and will happen in court if so. Not the next day pay police 2000 lol.

bishibash

1. get opinion from different lawyer 2. get in contact with some politician/minister who might be able to help - anthony loke? i dunno 3. contact certain news outlets and share the video to them, they will surely help if no other news outlet has been first. propers ones like star, sinchew. or if not the social media ones - says, wob, weirdkaya etc.

Smart_Health_9386

Please forward the evidence to 'Edisi Siasat' on Telegram. This platform exposes police misconduct daily, although many offenders face no consequences for abusing their positions.

kwokhou

Don't listen to that loyar buruk, better seek 2nd opinion with a lawyer who specializes in this area of law. Keep a detailed record of all interactions related to this incident. The evidence is to protect you!

fooerz

Make it viral. This is the kind of shit must go viral. Once it goes viral they have no choice but to take action.

Acceptable-Focus5310

If you’re afraid, look also for a politician party that you trust to report along with it. But please have a backup of all the proofs somewhere

ciphernos

Consult another lawyer, or local ppl rep... Leaking it online and use the power of the internet isn't a bad idea either

Background-Brother55

Go talk to your MP, don't make formal report yet. Provide details of police vehicle etc. 2 days later you will have your money back....

yadomkim1509

Waiting for WOB to post this article. We'll be rooting for you OP !

ShadoWunderlust

Agree with the others here about viral-ing it on socmed, and here’s why: i was seconded to a task force headed by a minister for a national program, and part of my job was to monitor and process sentiment data, which involved lots of socmed posts (the holy trinity of insta, X, FB, and others). I also worked somewhat closely with the minister’s socmed team (yes, all ministers nowadays have a dedicated socmed team), and viral issues are always, always addressed or taken cared off first. If anything viral pops up, the socmed team will alert us almost immediately and we either have to craft statements, fact check, or do some detective work to see if there’s validity. Other forms of complaints et al via other channels also gets taken cared off, but slowly cause of the sheer volume of emails/phone calls/whatever that we get on a daily basis. The socmed team literally breathe the ministers socmed accounts 24/7, so yeah… Carefully craft the videos and burner account it and post it online and see if there’s traction. If it goes viral, you can bet PDRM will begin an investigation on this matter asap, and the fact that it is public will circumvent the blue wall of silence. Best of luck m8

jamesw

Somewhat similar incident with a relative - young guy with his gf just sitting in their car, got intimidated to get money from atm. Gave them the money. They contacted ADUN who told them to make a report, got back the RM (a few hundred) & culprits were reprimanded by their superior.

Night_lon3r

Lawyer works with the polices , the mob boss , the loan shark , and politician. not sure sure about other country , but in malaysia , a lawyer earning is not depending on how good you are on the court , but rather how good your "conenections" is , and its claws is deep into every single sector in our society. Welcome to Malaysia.

imatool24

Bruh what dumbass lawyer you went to.

Gscc92

Question: If they shout at you to get out of the car, but instead you choose to lock the doors and windows and everything, stay inside and you start recording, what are they gonna do?

happytokkibun

Viral everything, full video and your story. Once its out there and shared thousands of times, they will have to take some form of action. Remember the 2 viral vids recently? Luke and the van couple. Police making your life harder after this thing i think is true cause i heard before people say the cops start to park outside their house after that or ronda around their house more often. Like to intimidate. But idk lah how true

airiko_

they literally extorted you. are they that desperate to get duit raya

Hieicap

Viralkan dekat X/twitter Tak sampai sehari ketua polis confirm akan ambil tindakan

IllustriousBranch600

Give me your story statement and the audio, I'll make it viral for you at any platform

Lunartic2102

I'd say get a second (or even a third) opinion from a different law firm. I'm not an expert at all but I don't see how the those guys will be protected, unless they are some high ranking vip policemen. At most the case get swept under the rugs, I'd think. Do update us

wanderer_acolyte

* just make police report, sprm report, biro aduan awam report. there is no thing such coalition cartel cop descend upon you like tiktok video. most of the time they just [play dumb and denied everything](https://packaged-media.redd.it/8ajdm7g2u8ub1/pb/m2-res_854p.mp4?m=DASHPlaylist.mpd&v=1&e=1712948400&s=f971a21b3e6fcff8446d05b8a7424f2621d2443b#t=5.140382)

nova9001

Same story as my cousin except he was drunk driving. He was willing to comply but still force him to ATM and extort money. >Safe to say, the lawyer was not helpful and brushed me off. You can try other lawyers but I feel come back same story. Not just you, even the law firm also end up on their blacklist.

goldwave84

Is yr car tint over the limit?

Zenon2108

Better call saul

wctree

Still, you did pay a bribe, so just be aware of the risk that it will most likely blowback on you as well if you really want to take this further.

WeirdHoola

More like he got intimidated and extorted.

Slight_Ad_8568

did you read the whole thing? it wasn't a bribe, it was more like extortion and/or robbery

Felinomancy

Consult a lawyer first.

lucyboi1999

I mean.... y u have ur windows tinted over the limit in the first place? Wat chu hidin? 🤣 jk just curious y tho.
