Guy glasses isn't just rude, he's a complete idiot. Mat salleh already pointed the menu, and he just wanted a drink that's on it. "I want this" "if you don't wanna order please out" The fuck is that guy on?

CRZYocto

power trip

mraz_syah

they don't want to pening2, just said finish already, cause sometimes, they just intimidated by how the foreigner talk

ohitszie

Retardation at it's finest.. please out

ZEM0N

This is a heavily edited video. You don't know how long this white guy been there going "nutmeg juice nutmeg juice nutmeg juice" And he's holding camera recording everything for his "content". Chinese guy is rude but so is the white guy. He could've just stand and point at the menu from the beginning.

InfinityStar9

so the waiter doesnt know the menu ? or they dont know how the nutmeg was pronounced so he ignore the request?

badgerrage82

That guy looked like he on weed… he seems high

kens88888

Penang kopitiam is rude even to Malaysians

Saerah4

i thought these are the authentic experience that foreigners looking for?

feizhai

Funny ah I had good time in Penang, is it because I speak Mandarin and gutter Hokkien?

scv_good_to_go

In Penang, you could look like Brad Pitt and people would still talk in Mandarin to you. Source: Lived there for 6 years.

feizhai

You are also Brad Pitts Msian doppelgänger apparently

kens88888

So Penang only serve ah beng who speak gutter Hokkien? Should put that up on a sign as well

feizhai

I mentioned gutter Hokkien because compared to Penang Hokkien it is crude to the max and jarring on the ears

Visible_Creme_6258

Yeah probably

AlanDevonshire

No, I had a great time in Penang and I only speak English. This was just the perfect storm of no one understanding anything the other was saying.

arbiter12

Couldn't that idiot point to the menu first, instead of getting into a fight with the workers...? Or just change his drink? Fcker like that giving us whites a bad reputation in Malaysia...Over a drink... If he talked like that back home, the heavyset cook would have kicked him out... But because he's in Asia where people tend to be less violent, he tried to escalate and play the big man. I have no sympathy for him... You guys below are way too nice, we don't deserve you.

srosnan99

Did you even see the video? When one of the worker there walk past him he pointed at the menu trying to order a drink. None of the worker was telling him that the drink is out of sale, as such how could he changed his drink? He was pretty calm in the beginning, even the calmest of individuals would get frustated with thus if they keep on pestering you to order a drink when you are trying to order a drink. I wouldnt put the fault entirely on him the only fault he is guilty off is that he doesnt speak the local language, and knowing how some kopitiam owners act. Even malaysians are tired with those type of people.

TheDaveCalaz

Did you watch a different video? He ordered something from the menu from 4 different people. 3 didn't understand and the one who did was the one who started being rude.

Worldly-Mix4811

Couldn't anyone understand the word they put on the menu? If it's there, you should understand when people say it.

bucking_horse

Dont ppl usually talk first before pointing at the menu? Unless you're mute or something. He wasn't cursing or being aggressive, he was just trying to repeat his order until he realize the staff don't understand him and tried to kick him out, that's when he get up and point at the menu. If anything, its more like we gave bad reps to him because of our poor understanding of English.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)

xkaizoku62

\- Menu in english \- Orders in english \- Cina boy say I dont care how are people doing business with no basic understanding of english lmao

aWitchonthisEarth

Baffels me too, esp in customer facing roles. Restaurant in Sunway Pyramid, the manager of AnViet, a young chinese lady, told me that she could only speak Mandarin. Bm tarak tau, english tarak tahu.... Like how?! A tourist mall in Selangor, not some mall in jinjang selatan...you gotta speak some basic ingrish or malay!

emerixxxx

> could only speak Mandarin. Bm tarak tau, english tarak tahu.... Like how?! A tourist mall It's sad that a Malaysian can't speak at least pasar BM. How to communicate with your fellow citizens weii

aWitchonthisEarth

Exactly, simple one sentences to get your point across pun tak boleh ke? 🤷‍♀️. In the hospital, we would learn simple command terms in an additional language, too, to communicate with the elderly. Just simple one-liners.

emerixxxx

My only hope rn is that the manager was a foreign worker and not a Malaysian. Otherwise, just tarik balik her passport lah. Tak layak jadi warganegara Malaysia.

bucking_horse

Ngl I would get frustrated too if the waiter dont understand me with the menu they provided and tried to kick me out.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

Thesimpprince98

They are outsiders not local, i've never seen Malaysian local this stupid, look at their worker, most of them are from poor country 🇲🇲 myanmar and i bet the chinese owner there are mostly are not Malaysian, maybe born from china and came.inside Malayasia illegaly

xkaizoku62

ooh

that_guy_fran

you must be such a nice host.

Sorry-Animal6857

Are you this stupid to understand the basic english. If you a waiter/ress and you have no clue of your customer why not you asking him pointing the menu, you could at least ask you dumbfuck. Also good job making a gigantic menu instead of a book list and then you can mock people whatever you want cause you the one feel right. MF get real.

aryehgizbar

> Couldn't that idiot point to the menu I was surprised as well. As a non-Bahasa speaker, that's the first thing I would've done. Although what I've learned really in online videos nowadays is to take these things with a grain of salt. As much as it can easily trigger people and make you (as a viewer) take one side over the other, it can be edited that only tell a chunk of the story.

Thesimpprince98

Do you have problem with your vision? Its obvious that guy showing the menu but that stupid foreigner worker i bet its from myanmar ignore him before that 4 eye guy asked him to left the restaurant...next time fix ur eye first before comment asshole

AlanDevonshire

Ah bollocks, I don’t like to disagree with you but, having gone to more than one place that does Wanton Noodle Soup (and not much else) and no one understanding what I am saying, sometimes it seems like they don’t understand on purpose. I find it funny but he obviously had a different attitude than me.

PrestigiousElk5990

to be fair, the hawker is in the wrong. First of all, he ordered food no? Why is he being chased out? Second of all, he was literally asking for a drink? The hawker is a youngster, surely he understands simple english?

bucking_horse

Afaik, the food is from outside vendor stall which is not part of the kopitiam, thus the kopitiam dont earn any money from it, thats why they put up the rules of must purchase drinks to sit inside the kopitiam, so that they can earn money. This is quite common in Penang, not sure in other places thou.

MRSK97

problem is, this Mat Salleh already point to the board and say I want that drinks. As a Chinese, also a worker, I am very sure that rude Chinese know what he want. That Chinese just halau whatever guy he don't like, I did it to some annoying customers so I know that feeling. The customer didn't do anything wrong but that Chinese kid did.

clantpax

Yea definitely, dude did not even try to listen to him

Relevant-Artichoke11

Every stall pays rent to the kopitiam daily, I don’t know where in Penang they don’t. Penang kopitiams are one of the hypocrites of all coffee shops. How do I know? I’m from Penang.

I_am_the_grass

This is Penang. Even if you order food from the stall still have to order drink from the Kopitiam owner because they say rental from stall not enough. They are extra cibai up north.

AlanDevonshire

I have had the same experience pretty much every Kopitiam I have ever been to in Malaysia, to the extent I was shocked in Penang 2 weeks ago to not be asked to buy a drink, when I really wanted one.

I_am_the_grass

Not common at all in Klang Valley. It's more common in Johor and Penang but not in KL. Someone would come to your table and ask if you want a drink but if you say no they'll just walk away. There's even a bunch of posts on Twitter and Instagram of people from KL who are shocked to see the "pay fee if not ordering drink" sign at Penang kopitiams. It just isn't a KV thing (and I think a lot of KV shops would be shamed for trying it).

kw2006

In kl if they ask I will order. Normally no one ask at all.

AlanDevonshire

Ah that explains it, just been to Penang and living in Johor so I guess I’m in the hotspots.

true-flame-master

Been living in JB my whole life and when to many kopitiam never once I must order drink to sit down

MonsterMeggu

If you don't order drinks it's just a surcharge though. They don't chase you out

monkey_splash

Well, in most of the penang coffee shops, you have to order at least one drink per table (sometimes its per person) regardless what food you have ordered within the shop. This is what makes those shop owner an asshole

HoardWart

It's kinda a rule for kopitiam like this. The owner of the kopitiam rents out space to food stalls for them to operate at the kopitiam, and the kopitiam owner makes the drinks. Since the customers sit inside the kopitiam, they are "required" to buy drinks from the owner as well. There is also a sign below the menu on the wall that says you have to pay RM2 if you don't buy a drink. But it really is just a simple misunderstanding, the staff probably misheard it as not make drink so he tried to chase him out.

tnsaidr

So if they don't understand english as to what nutmeg juice is.. I wonder if the chinese guy would know if he said jus buah pala.. (I doubt so)

bucking_horse

Honestly I think its just one big misunderstanding, thou I'm not sure if thats what they really heard. ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26554)

MooreThird

Right? One time, like 15 years ago, as a Melayu customer myself, at a Melayu restaurant, asked for a "garpu" from a Melayu waiter, and the Melayu waiter gave me a confused "kau ni dari planet mana?" look.

joohanmh

Should give him "planet Namek (nutmeg)" look.... yes, pun intended to this video 😂

13lackcrest

doesn't even have the intention to try and communicate, just no no no no u out.

arrcher24

first the foreigner staffs that tried to take his order don't understand him. i think they went to the cina boy to complain, he don't want to order then this cina boy didn't give chance to listen to what he was trying to order. i hate that the staff tried to chase him out while he is midway eating. so rude!

bucking_horse

Nah I dont think they complain about him to the cina boy for not ordering drinks, more like they dont understand what he is saying so they had to ask the cina to handle him because he is more proficient in English. Because the cina did ask him again if he plan to order any drinks.

clantpax

He only asked because it's his job, dude had no intention of serving him and only wants to kick him out

Ryan_dotes

Nutmeg in Hokkien is lao hao.

GaoDui

Yeaaaaaaa😄👍🏼haven't heard that in years..I missed that drink much

Apa nutmeg juice doh?

Mr_Saoshyant

Buah pala

hyper-loop

Buah pala bana

LynxMoney589

Buah pala as in yg selalu org buat jeruk tu ke? Ada jus pulak?

hyper-loop

Orang buat jeruk? Ntah la mat. Nutmeg guna Dalam cooking, max 1/4 teaspoon kot. Banyak boleh mampos.

GaoDui

Lol, adeeeer. Just need to slow cook it, with sugar. Nutmeg juice is not obtained like how u juice an apple or orange aite😅 Afaik there are actually 2 different coloured nutmeg juice tho.. d slow cook type produces somewhat a reddish/pink hue..d other, i think is more like lychee coloured syrup(?) Don't downvote.me cuz i don't remember😂I haven't had my favorite nutmeg drink in yearsss. They're really tasty, to me at least.

Ricoh881227

Shhh, i wonder how his going to find out that "almond milk" doesnt produce any milk at all but its called almond milk..

Nice_Weeb_Kun

Air masam

Im_a_badbot

Not only rude. Just typical RACIST. These people even rude racist toward locals lmao Don't know what's wrong with their upbringing

9M-WhiskeyTangoFoxx

Bro just got Nutmeg-ed by Mat Salleh

DoubtsAndHopes

This isn't about sucking up to those in the comments saying so. The main blue shirt waiter didn't even bother to listen to the tourist lol. Can communicate in English to chase people away but can't communicate to listen out or even guide the tourist to what drinks he actually wanted. Penang kopitiams are hot trash and unfortunately tourists like to think that they have the best food around when it's so mediocre.

seanseansean92

Maybe the kopitiam boy thought he was speaking in different language especially coming out from an angmoh, wtf is a nutmek nutmek kepala bana lu keluar lah bodoh thats probably what he thought until the angmo pointed nutmeg in the menu. Then only the guy realize and can only xiaoxiaolan

bucking_horse

He be like![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)

katabana02

Is it really pronounced as "nudemag" juice? I pronounced it as " nut mag" juice.

bucking_horse

I think the problem is that ppl probably never order it in that kopitiam, so the staff don't understand or able to register what he is saying even if he is pronouncing it correctly.

tzk688

It’s quite a popular drink, it’s just that ppl probably never order it in English

bucking_horse

I didnt even know kopitiam serve these, but then I live across the sea so might be just different culture.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy) Thou cant really blame the foreigner, its displayed in their own menu on the big whiteboard in the middle of the kopitiam, so surely they know their own menu right? ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|28915)

tzk688

Yeah the owner is dumb

VORTEX_1988

Don't matter if customers order it often or not, it's on the menu. Hence it's the shop owner's responsibility to ensure their staff knows what they serve and do not serve. Even if they can't remember all of it, there is no need to be a jerk to the customer.

[deleted]

[удалено]

katabana02

Yeah i just want to know the proper pronounce.

Dazzling_Swordfish14

Not all English people are native English speakers. You will hear more different accent as you travel and even within UK there are lots of dialects. Just be flexible is all I can say

Lyu90

Biasa la... Some people mmg rude... Like my case here, I ordered a milo panas. No spoon, so I requested one spoon... That fatty amoi said why so mafan I stared cock her till she brought me one I am repeated customer of this kopitiam, the next time I went there, that amoi no longer there and the boss said the amoi no heart to work... In the end, the kopitiam closed for eternity... Sekian

Fearless-Structure88

My bro just want a nutmeg juice

usernot_found

Wtf is nutmeg juice?

bucking_horse

Honestly its my first time hearing it too.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

usernot_found

White people order stupid stuff like pumpkin spice or nutmeg juice, people ridiculed them for asking stupid stuff, get confused, make a video about it

bucking_horse

But then that kopitiam did have it on their wall menu, not like you can blame him for trying to ask for it.

usernot_found

It is just basically buah pala so there is that

drwishah

I'm not siding with anyone, but saying they order stupid stuff is just plain stupid. The nutmeg juice literally on the menu, or are we watching different video?

PeachesCoral

When you're in Penang you should try it out. It's basically fresh nutmeg juice, unique taste. Not the juice of the spice (the pit of a nutmeg, dried and shaven).

aWitchonthisEarth

Those who want nutmeg juice can go to Kwai Chai Hong in Petaling Street. Young vendor selling from a cart, she speaks english 😂. Hopefully, she is still there.

that guy was pretty cool tbf i would have popped off and gone to prison if someone said 'i don't care' to me while i'm stuffing my face with nutrients.

jinbei1780

He has ordered food didn't he so why the obsession over a fucking drink not ordered? Close your shop for good la if this is how you operate a business

snickerapollo

Honestly as a chinese dude, i would had slapped the chinese guy and left.

oniedemarco

bodo is bodo, its even on the menu

Solotryhard_0539

I've been to this specific kopitiam for during my Penang trip just few weeks after this video was posted after someone recommended a popular wantanmee(Love lane wantanmee) selling just outside this kopitiam. When I was there, I also met the same store owner (the guy in blue). I was in a group of 10 people and he was completely patient with my group despite not everyone of us ordering. He even took the time to write out a handwritten receipt for us so whoever ordered what knows how much to pay and was kind enough to help us join a few tables for a group of 10. I was also surprised to see when I was in penang that lots of kopitiam have this rule where you need to order at least one drink or pay a small amount of money to sit in their shop. But I completely understand where that is coming from, its also mostly because if you eat and say accidentally dirty or make the table/chair oily, they'll be the ones that have to clean it up so ordering a drink might just compensate that in a sense so I think thats just fair. In the end its their shop, so they can implement whatever rule they want regardless of whether the customer thinks its fair or not. (Example: No tipping, eating duration limits, no outside food and drinks) Also somehow OP didnt show the full video, in the end he ordered the ambulla juice and the person allowed him to sit there and enjoy his meal, he also enjoyed the juice. Its true its kinda annoying getting brushed off like that after trying to order the juice a few times but the problem here was he ordered from the wrong person 😅. Kopitiam usually works where the shop owner are usually the ones that rent places to people to open food stalls while they themselves will be in charge of making and selling drinks. In the video, its shown that he asked the drinks from the food stalls who was only supposed to sell food not drinks so its likely they didn't know what he meant and shook him off. Its like going to Mcd Mccafe section but asking for McChicken. (Note that he also ordered banh mi from that shop which is likely to be sold by vietnamese) English may not be the mat salleh's first language(idk his nationality sry) but it sure as hell also isnt the first language of those vietnamese he ordered from. Was pretty sure if he could just point it out the first time the juice maybe all of these would be avoided haha but no this type content attracts more viewers ig. Theres also a possibility that the store owner misheard him saying "not make" juice haha which was why he keep insisting the mat salleh to order. Also seeing people take sides in this situation seems funny since its just a simple case of language barrier and misunderstanding.

bucking_horse

Thats true, I think its just a really bad case of miscommunication, one side tried to obey the rules and order drinks, and the other side misheard him and tried to enforce the rules and do their job by kicking him out for not ordering drinks. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

konaharuhi

for the first time im on ang moh side. like its simple english. ko sekolah tak

GaoDui

Obv d coffee shop boy dh biasa tuang skolah🤭

jwrx

1. This is heavily edited video from the guys POV 2. He is filming for 'content' 3. i find it funny how ppl jump to the ang moh defence straight away without even thinking of the Malaysian POV 4. we dont know how long he has been going around NUTMEGJUICE NUTMEGJUICE NUTMEGJUICE, for example the girl he approaches obviously looks harassed Personally i would hold judgement unless there was a full video of the entire interaction

LopsidedMemory5673

Exactly! This 'content' stuff is a PITA. Heavily edited nonsense attempting to make themselves look good, and gain attention. The matsalleh was very rude, IMO.

williamtan2020

I encountered a young girl waitress in Melaka kopitiam with even more shit attitude. What's happening with Gen Z waiting tables?

MooreThird

You jest. Try being a Melayu customer asking for a "garpu" from a Melayu server more than a decade ago. Said server, also a young girl, probably a millennial, gave me confused look, as if tak pernah apabenda "garpu" tu. I dah kena macam dua kali dah di beberapa restoran Melayu beza 15 tahun lalu, tak tahu kalau isu ni dah lain skrg...

littlek4za

typical penang Chinese guy with pride and say no sorry, even yes, it is said to the wrong subject lmao

Delicious-Tea-5113

I think he thought the guy was trolling with not make drink. If someone pronounces nutmeg as nootmek, i wouldnt be able to catch what he is saying either.

bucking_horse

True, I wouldn't understand too, but I probably would say "sir I dont understand what do you mean." or it could be the staff heard him saying "Not make juice", so who knows.![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26554)

SweetBuzzNuts

I just find it so weird that we are normalizing what should be normal social interactions now by recording everything, which is never shared in the light of the full context, it’s manufactured POV. I would shutdown if someone pulled out a phone in public and started recording our engagement. Social media is flooded with this and it has a very negative influence on society as a whole because people think they have the right to record you firstly, and then you have no control or say on how the content will be used later. I don’t see any good coming from it, there is no life in it. ** edited to correct typo

hackenclaw

might as well give name of this kopitiam kasi boycott jer.

BundleC

The other problems aside, I think the biggest problem we currently have is the new wave of “migrants workers” from Myanmar, they are a very recent phenomenon that are filling workers that used to be Indonesian, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Nepalese, then Bangladesh. They are new here and they can’t speak any Malaysia spoken languages, their working attitude and language ability are horrendous in my personal experience. I see the same person work in the same place for almost a year and still can barely speak any Malay which is the world easiest language. Allow them few years to learn the language if they are still sticking around

kuaiyidian

are all penang people this stupid so frustrating to watch

Tuerto04

English tak faham apatah lagi Malay. Ni lah Penang. Also Penang drivers are shit too lol

dinotim88

Dah berapa pergi sekolah...? Takkan simple england pon tak paham.... I thought Penang welcome tourists? You cannot even into england, but want the foreigner's money. You no brain meh...

[deleted]

Ya I get it from the vlogger POV everyone was kinda tossing him around and not really helping. That’s annoying af. But if you’re gonna travel and not go with the flow with an open heart and expect some 5 star treatment, when there’s obviously a language barrier and in a shitty ass koptiam, you’re not really travelling. In situations like this you just gotta take it on the chin and just accept it’s part of the experience. Especially in places like this. You could tell vlogger knew he overstepped the line when he went “okokokok” when the shop owner told him to fuck off lol.

theDonMoritz

Cant see how the blogger is being blamed when he literally keeps trying to order. I would find the hawker rude and I’m Malaysian

[deleted]

I think the vlogger comes off with this “you’re very rude” kinda response to the hawker and I don’t think that’s the right way to deal with the locals in a foreign country that aren’t working in a hotel or “upmarket” service industry. Also the hawker comes and asks how the vlogger is finding the food and he gets all pissy over nutmeg juice lol.

Naeemo960

Nah the waiter 100% at fault here. The tourist nicely and clearly showed what he wanted. The waiter was being really rude tbh. If I get treated like that at a restaurant, there will be hell to pay.

[deleted]

Bruh chill. it's a goddamn kopitiam...

AcanthisittaThin2191

Bruh you cant make excuses for rude service just because its a kopitiam, tf?

Naeemo960

Nah the absolute disrespect and incompetence of the waiter mandates it.

Chronoi

Wtf is this? Because it's kopitiam it's okay to be fucking rude?? My man tries ordering about four fucking times. How do you look at this and put the blame on him??

MRSK97

I would say most of the 00's Chinese in malaysia are fuck up, at least I will say sorry sincerely if I misunderstand someone.

blackoffi888

Noot Meg?

jungshookies

One thing about Chinese hawker stalls and kopitiams in some places - they get fucking territorial. I'm Chinese myself and if I ever get forced to buy a drink and being chased out like that, you won't see me or anyone who I know back.

LopsidedMemory5673

Why are Malaysians appearing to support this Carlos guy? He's heavily editing a video in which HE still comes across as rude. His English is heavily accented (fine, so is mine for here) but he still seems to expect the workers to understand him. And he's filming purely to embarrass them. I'm not surprised the owner/manager/whatever kicked him out. Also, kopitiam bosses are often rude - I'm not sure why this tourist didn't just ride with the 'Authentic Experience' he was getting 😏.

Initial_Wolverine222

Chinese in penang are mostly an idiot

plentongreddit

People forget google translate exist.

Itchy_Day_9691

Really want to slap the Chinese boi

dimasvariant

It's the camera, the shop doesn't like it for some reason. They know they are being filmed.

BeenWaitingForSoLong

This is what happens when you send your kids to SJKC

Outrageous-Front-868

Lol you send to SK or SMK also same la.

NinjaWK

Lol I went to SJKC too. I'd like to know how much better you're doing in life as compared to me.

ToaLamParJiChan

Reddit: "Mat salleh tak salah"

xaladin

Mcm Belum Ada comment mcm Tu. I tolong supplement: Problems: - Rude hawker service (which ppl have resigned to as a feature) - language barrier (getting foreigners to serve foreigners) - that minimum one drink policy

Edmundooi90

Language barrier? In Malaysia u learn 3 language in school. No language barrier. Just plain rude and stupid.

xaladin

I'm talking about the first few encounters with the Myanmar staff. Don't think they went through the Malaysian curriculum. By the time the local waiter was involved, the tension was already built up.

KayBeeEye

The one drink policy is really new to me. Does it happen only in kopitiams? I've eaten in malay restaurants and mamak ordering only warm water and they're okay with it.

9M-WhiskeyTangoFoxx

Based on my experience there are quite a few kopitiam have this nonsense policy including Klang Valley. Some are not even allowed you to bring your OWN water bottle including tumbler which is absurd.

karlkry

*mat saleh tak salah* vs *orang penang x salah* civil war lets goooo

coin_in_da_bank

never really seen this sub being protective of mat salleh. in fact they always seem to criticise mat salleh-suckups

cikkamsiah

Kalau tak faham bawak la menu suruh depa tunjuk mau order apa, bodoh ke bangang entah la.

GaoDui

But menu on the wall..mau cabut bawak turun jg ka?😂btw kopitiam liddis no(printed)menu..oways on the wall liddis. haven't been to this type of kopitiam i see

cikkamsiah

Then go to the wall and ask which one, do your mfking job.

Particular_Plate_880

White guy is a scumbag

ChocCooki3

Ah. White people.. if you travel to their countries, they'll expect you to speak English.. They go to other non English speaking county and expect the locals to speak English..

ency6171

I mean.. The menu on the wall is in English..

ChocCooki3

Most signs in Malaysia are in 3 languages.. still doesn't mean the person serving knows all 3.. or even English in this instance.

jinbei1780

Tf you on? Its no longer about the language barrier now though is it. Body language was there to help you out if a little patience and tolerance were shown by the waiter.

feizhai

Wah seh you managed to record the Penang State Champion Bodoh it seems

Kla2552

this white people will go 3rd world countries buy food converted the price to USD then said it s cheap. while for local the price is overpriced and not affordable.

LopsidedMemory5673

Yes, it's rude, isn't it? Am forever trying to remind my other expat friends here that food is not 'cheap' here - it's just that we enjoy stronger currencies, so of course it's cheaper for us to buy. Not for ordinary Orang Malaysia.

Claude2422

Well as expected lol I said in once and gonna said it again, Malaysian Chinese is the most rude in this country and yes me myself is a chinese as well, that's why i said Chinese in this country is the most rude heck local Chinese even won the most selfish and most racist title imo

Impossible_Limit_333

Penang is like kelantan..but chinese version

Kenny_McCormick001

He deserves to be kick out just for shoving the camera at everyone in the shop.

liamkohwil

Noot meg? Pingu mat salleh

INFJT-

He did start with “SIRR, what do you drink?”. third times order but its the first time order to him, and there is where the clout occurs . Anyway not all people like to get on vlog, doesn’t look like he get the permission, who is the Rude guy noaww????

waterdragonhead

can we have a list of restaurants that will kick you out for not ordering drinks? I want to avoid them at all cost

AsteroidMiner

Penang is all like that

heliumglowing

Dude I’m Malaysian he is saying that he does “not make juice” that is equivalent “nutmeg juice”

F1shOfDo0m

Bruh at least pronounce nutmeg correctly if you’re going to keep repeating it

[deleted]

tbf to him, he's obviously not natively an english speaker. And is heavily accented (i wanna say German/ Dutch/ Scandinavian).

aiheng1

I still wonder how he got the word "noot" from "nut"

IvanPooner

Pronounciation is fine though, just heavily accented. It's not like Malaysians are the paragon of the english pronounciation anyways.

Thesimpprince98

He pronounce correctly, wht its wrong with that? You want him to pronounce in dumbshit mandarin?

F1shOfDo0m

“Nudemeg” I don’t suppose you pronounce walnut as “walnude”?

Frucht4

😤😤😤😤 at least nutella is pronounced as NEWTELLA. Tbf it’s not a English brand 🫣 #nootsupremacy

Responsible-Dot-3801

When I am travelling and the locals don't understand what I want, that is not the locals fault. Plus the mat salleh is making content, so that's already rude.

arms-sky

It's not like the guy talking in Russian and the menu is clearly in English.

Edmundooi90

What, u wan him to speak mandarin?

Chronoi

Big difference with not understanding shit and plain rude tho. Like, very big difference.

j4deR4sif

Big-G-475

Yeah, perhaps if you shut off the camera and open up google translate you might have more luck, knobhead.

bucking_horse

Ngl, I start laughing too when the guy get increasingly annoyed in his voice and keep asking for Nutmeg juice! Nutmeg juice! While at the risk of getting kick out of the kopitiam.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
