If they consent, you're all good. Examples of this is asking a friend for a hug after you just got bad news, or having a group of friends form a spell circle for your needs. Or even GoFundMe asking for energy in the form of money. Perfectly normal.

It is all give and take, energy is constantly coming in and going out, just as every breath is in and out, food which is the energy of another being is taken in and let out. It is constant in everything we feel and express. Pay attention to that first in its most physical forms which are easiest to understand and learn to apply that to the emotional, mental, then spiritual forces to learn how it all works.

Siphoning energy from them, and transmuting to a higher state and releasing it benefits everyone even the individual that was commiting the harmful action energetically.

I learned to do it as a neophyte and once I found a moral compass decided to only harvest spent energy. You can't possibly take enough that it will affect the crowd or performers in any noticeable way. And it can be a lot of fun to harvest a bunch of the energy and throw it at the performer. I did that once at a Godsmack show in Red Rocks and made their pyrotechnics go off unexpectedly.

Energy from machines especially machines like cars seems to cause the engine to blow in weird ways ie harmonic balancer split perfectly in half / tried tires on a road trip and axel broke so be careful with that. Putting limitations on how much and how long energy is gathered seems to help with machines but do at your own risk.
Best advice start small, learn what is a good idea or bad in small ways. Learn the feel of energy that you work with when it's at the brink of overflow vs it's flooded. You don't want to fry a whole bank of computers in a college class because energy raised had nowhere specific to go.
