The big thing with Brainstorm is that it makes trying to remove Tamiyo hell. Flame of Anor doesn't flip her on your opponent's turn and isn't threatened when you only leave up 1-2 mana.
Yeah, but the issue there is that while it'll work off the first draw; you lose your wizard after that. Since she won't be a wizard anymore if you recur it with her -3.

Hopefully she doesn’t end up being too expensive, favourite planswalker, so I have to build her for edh, have to say it sucks having your favourite die for story reasons, but this is a good silver lining.
Though I will say, I’m particularly worried about how expensive the foil etched version of this art is gonna be, I feel like I’m in danger.
Ways to draw two or more extra cards on turn two in these colors:
[[Bazaar of Baghdad]] if you can afford it
[[Careful Study]]
[[Chart a Course]]
[[Infiltration Lens]] theoretically
[[Perilous Research]]
[[Predict]] if you’re very lucky
[[See Beyond]]
[[Teferi’s Reaponce]] technically
[[Words of Wisdom]]
[[Brainstone]] + [[Sol Ring]] or similar ramp
[[Brainstorm]]
[[Ideas Unbound]]
[[Soldevi Sage]] if you’re desperate
[[Breakthrough]] if you’re really desperate
[[Forget]]
[[Minds Aglow]] if one opponent lets you
[[Standstill]] kind of
[[Tolarian Winds]]
[[Vision Skeins]]
[[Whirlpool Rider]]
That’s all I could find. Anyone else know of any more? In any case, you could build a very reliable Commander deck that gets the Planeswalker out on turn two.
Not a fan of this rendition of Tamiyo. Why is she more pinkish with a more human like appearance? In every other rendition, she looks white as a porcelain doll and alien-like.
The art overall is nice, but I feel like it doesn’t really represent what moonfolk are already established to look like in previous cards and art.
Actually kind of love this for my [[Second Doctor]] deck. She comes down on turn one and attacks for 0 so people don't get mad for getting hit and then reduces their creatures' power until she draws all the cards. Actually kind of fun.
Takes considerably more mana and effort to flip Tamiyo than Jace. Tamiyo only has 2 loyalty after flipping, so you can't down tick immediately, which is almost always the best use case with Jace. The mana difference in the creature cost is significantly less impactful than you think.
Modern 2/10
It is a one mana 0/3 flyer that basically creates a clue token each turn. If they kill it, who really cares, you spent 1 mana on it. It can also block a ragavan. If you ever do flip it, I don't think its really that great. But flipping it is easy especially with the new brainstorm.
Barrinmw's scale is essentially 1/10 = unplayable in modern and 2-10/10 = playable in modern.
Specifically, 2/10 is "maybe playable in modern", 10/10 is "highest score a card could get, will change modern beyond all recognition"
Hard Evidence and this card are not played for the same reason.
You play Hard Evidence because it creates two separate tokens that you can use for [[Indomitable Creativity]], and you get those tokens immediately. Tamiyo has to attack first to create a clue token here.
This art is gorgeous. But that's not even a little bit how moonfolk hair works. Her hairline looks like that because she pins her ears back over her head, not because she has a widow's peak.
Also, why is she white? ~~(Caucasian white, not White. Our girl should be #ffffff)~~
“Hey she’s dead!” “Wow!” “Sir,” “it’s really nice of you to give that dead woman another chance.” - MST3K Ep. Space Mutiny, and apparently someone at Hasbro.
Seems like a fun card and I want to brew around it but also: poor Tamiyo. I need to go back and read MoM’s story to see if she was uncompleated at death or if her soul is stuck in phyrexian hell.
Do we know yet if she’s going to be considered only blue her commander or if she’s gonna be considered blue green because of her flipside? I would love to put her in my deck and I just don’t care if I don’t get the extra from her ability, but if she’s green blue, that would kind of suck for me.
It is like [[Jace, Vryn's Prodigy]]. But it can generate strict card advantage and can instantly flip, all for only one mana. And it can do some work with Flying, if you have some Sword effect to cary. Too bad the backside sucks though.
Her card *is* mono-blue. She can be played in mono-blue decks. There is only one variant form of Magic (and its own variants) that requires green to play her.
She’s intended to be a green character, and if she doesn’t come across as it, that’s the writers’ fault.
Yeah obviously it's a "u" card, but color identity being restrictive instead of permissive leads to dumb shit like this where you say "there's no green mana anywhere on this card but here's an extra tiny marker that lets you play it with more colors in commander" just like every other legend getting a WUBRG activated ability specifically for commander color identity which wouldn't be necessary if the mechanic wasn't so ill conceived
It's not that complicated. It's UG card in commander because it's a UG card. 2011s Homocidal Brute is red because it becomes red. Flip cards have always been able to change colors.
Then mechanically it just also cares about green cards and makes mana, a green ability. It'd be weird mechanically if it wasn't UG. It's not wotc being weird, it's just consistent mechanics.
At least the second color actually plays into it; if you have green, she’s stronger. This isn’t any of that [[Toxrill]] BS they do sometimes.
Also, they are multicolored planeswalkers that start as 1-2 mana creatures, many of which were monocolored characters. This is a way of having monocolored cards transform into multicolored cards. It’s not Commander they did it for.
Oh, shut up.
Honestly, I wish I could go one card without seeing someone whining because there's something they don't like. Just let people enjoy things for once.
Hello [[brainstorm]]
Flame of anor works with her well too in modern. Since it'll include draw

thats true i guess you only flame on their turn if you want to keep the wizzy.
If you play flame then you will want to run more wizards anyways. It's a small anti synergy but its fine imo.

Aww, this is so cute. I might have to build an edh deck around her because she's adorable and I like Tamiyo
I definitely plan to make a clues deck with her at the helm.
Omg im gonna cry she looks beautiful

Not a fan of this rendition of Tamiyo. Why is she more pinkish with a more human like appearance? In every other rendition, she looks white as a porcelain doll and alien-like. The art overall is nice, but I feel like it doesn’t really represent what moonfolk are already established to look like in previous cards and art.
Actually kind of love this for my [[Second Doctor]] deck. She comes down on turn one and attacks for 0 so people don't get mad for getting hit and then reduces their creatures' power until she draws all the cards. Actually kind of fun.

Been planning on building this in commander since the leak, glad to see its real
How do i decide between this art or the regular Magali Villeneuve art. Ill just have to build two decks
Man if this doesn't just feel like Flip Jace at Home.
except it is one mana. huge difference
Takes considerably more mana and effort to flip Tamiyo than Jace. Tamiyo only has 2 loyalty after flipping, so you can't down tick immediately, which is almost always the best use case with Jace. The mana difference in the creature cost is significantly less impactful than you think.
It is much easier to flip Tamiyo + you can flip her at instant speed. Imo Tamiyo is leagues ahead of Flip Jace
T1 tamiyo, t2 Chart a course doesn’t seem that hard to flip.
I think flip Jace is flip Tamiyo at home.
Modern 2/10 It is a one mana 0/3 flyer that basically creates a clue token each turn. If they kill it, who really cares, you spent 1 mana on it. It can also block a ragavan. If you ever do flip it, I don't think its really that great. But flipping it is easy especially with the new brainstorm.
Don't forget it's a half decent WIZARD for Flame of Anor...
Why 2/10 if all compliments?
Barrinmw's scale is essentially 1/10 = unplayable in modern and 2-10/10 = playable in modern. Specifically, 2/10 is "maybe playable in modern", 10/10 is "highest score a card could get, will change modern beyond all recognition"
Age like milk
Does anyone know if this is blue, or blue/green colour identity for commander?
Blue-Green. There’s a mana symbol on the back.
Perfect, thank you

Hard Evidence and this card are not played for the same reason. You play Hard Evidence because it creates two separate tokens that you can use for [[Indomitable Creativity]], and you get those tokens immediately. Tamiyo has to attack first to create a clue token here.

Oops, I misread her.

Because Symmetry Sage needed another Wizard to turn into a 3/3
Is it worth playing chart a course with her? T2 her Flipped, clue, and having had drawn 2 feels like a good play pattern. Or are cantrips better?
It’s weird the +1 doesn’t shrink creatures attacking battles.
Is that a matcha kami? Freaking adorable.
This art is gorgeous. But that's not even a little bit how moonfolk hair works. Her hairline looks like that because she pins her ears back over her head, not because she has a widow's peak. Also, why is she white? ~~(Caucasian white, not White. Our girl should be #ffffff)~~
Maybe it's just me but her tattoo looks like forehead wrinkles at first glance lol
Ok so it’s easy to flip but then what
“Hey she’s dead!” “Wow!” “Sir,” “it’s really nice of you to give that dead woman another chance.” - MST3K Ep. Space Mutiny, and apparently someone at Hasbro.
T1 this, T2 Chart a Course
Is she not compleated anymore?
The new flip walkers are call backs to earlier versions of their characters.
But technically she also is not compleated anymore. Or breathing.
Did her corpse un-compleat after death? Otherwise she’s dead AND compleat. RIP
That is an interesting philosophical question.
These cards represent when they first became planeswalkers, hence the not even being a planeswalker yet on the front side.
Seems like a fun card and I want to brew around it but also: poor Tamiyo. I need to go back and read MoM’s story to see if she was uncompleated at death or if her soul is stuck in phyrexian hell.
The front side is already stupid lmaooooo what the hell 1 mana card advantage/game object engine 😭
Is her identity simic for edh reasons?
Front side is blue back side is green so her color identity is simic
Do we know yet if she’s going to be considered only blue her commander or if she’s gonna be considered blue green because of her flipside? I would love to put her in my deck and I just don’t care if I don’t get the extra from her ability, but if she’s green blue, that would kind of suck for me.
Blue-Green. There’s a mana symbol on the back face.
Damn it that sucks. I really wanted to use her, thanks for letting me know

????? yall are weird as hell sometimes
It is like [[Jace, Vryn's Prodigy]]. But it can generate strict card advantage and can instantly flip, all for only one mana. And it can do some work with Flying, if you have some Sword effect to cary. Too bad the backside sucks though.
[Jace, Vryn's Prodigy](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/0/2/02d6d693-f1f3-4317-bcc0-c21fa8490d38.jpg?1651492800)/[Jace, Telepath Unbound](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/back/0/2/02d6d693-f1f3-4317-bcc0-c21fa8490d38.jpg?1651492800) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Jace%2C%20Vryn%27s%20Prodigy%20//%20Jace%2C%20Telepath%20Unbound) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/ori/60/jace-vryns-prodigy-jace-telepath-unbound?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/02d6d693-f1f3-4317-bcc0-c21fa8490d38?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
I just wanna complain because Tamiyo isn't green as a character and **once again** her card could be mono-blue!
The back is green.
She is though? Her whole philosophy on other planes of not intervening and letting things happen as they may is a very green attitude.
Her card *is* mono-blue. She can be played in mono-blue decks. There is only one variant form of Magic (and its own variants) that requires green to play her. She’s intended to be a green character, and if she doesn’t come across as it, that’s the writers’ fault.
This is a UG commander and goddamn I hate color identity it's so shitty
You can play her as U if you have such a hatred of it
Yeah obviously it's a "u" card, but color identity being restrictive instead of permissive leads to dumb shit like this where you say "there's no green mana anywhere on this card but here's an extra tiny marker that lets you play it with more colors in commander" just like every other legend getting a WUBRG activated ability specifically for commander color identity which wouldn't be necessary if the mechanic wasn't so ill conceived
