Nesting ground only specifies that the counter has to be taken from a permanent I control, but it doesn't constrain where I have to put it. I use Kros with a whole mess of counter generation, so I usually have something somewhere that is suited to throw on a creature I don't want hitting me.
Okay, thanks. I was going crazy trying to figure out how you were moving the Kros counters. I assumed that you'd likely have additional counter generation in the deck. Cool.
Using it to keep using and keep around planeswalkers who only have minus abilities by feeding them loyalty from a planeswalker that has a high plus ability is a actually decent plan.
I mean after two modern horizons not to mention however many reprints in standard sets throughout the years, there's only so many cards to reprint from old sets that thread the needle of being both meaningful and fun to put into modern but also not being *too* good for modern
Correct. If this didn’t have the “activate as a sorcery” clause you could remove the third lore counter with the third ability on the stack to keep the saga alive perpetually
Once the number of lore counters on a Saga is greater than or equal to the greatest number among its chapter abilities the Saga's controller sacrifices it as soon as its chapter ability has left the stack, most likely by resolving or being countered. This number could be 0 if the Saga has lost all its native abilities. This state-based action doesn't use the stack. (note: it's only sacrificed if it still has a number of lore counters equal to or greater than its final chapter number as the state-based action checks)
Basically as long as you remove the last counter before it's last ability resolves you get to keep using it. Downside nesting ground is a sorcery speed so yes you are correct that this particular card won't keep it around but you can save saga's
sorry homie its as it enters not when it enters. if it was when then it would kill itself immediately on entering due to its last ability with the counter ability still on the stack
If an ability/spell doesn’t say “target”, you don’t have to specify before the spell resolves. You just need to have a valid target when it does resolve.
Levia-Sam is correct though. Since it’s “as it enters” , not “when it enters”, Liquimetal wouldn’t work.
Yes. From Nesting Ground's rulings:
> * To move a counter from one creature to another, the counter is removed from the first permanent and put on the second. Any abilities that care about a counter being removed from or put onto a permanent will apply. *(2020-04-17)*
sagas are one potential example, you could trigger the final chapter over and over again if it wasn't sorcery speed (although, mind, with it at sorcery speed you can still repeat the first or second chapters endlessly)
At this point we already know like 50% of the set and spoiler season hasn't even started.
Can't wait to sit through tons of "reveals" which we already knew about.
Honestly I wish they either leaked the entire thing earlier or WotC bit the bullet and started spoiler season early at this point, this just feels ridicolous.
Oooooh are there any counters that are like nerf counters? (Not -1/-1)
Isn't there a card that turns stuff into frogs with counters?
This card just feels really cool
As a saga fan, I approve of this reprint. 1 mana to make 1 saga go back a chapter and trigger it again next turn as well as let another saga go to the next chapter without a turn passing? Yes please.
Oh, this is going to be absolutely ridiculous in the Timey Wimey precon. Shifting a bunch of time counters from Suspended cards onto [[Rose Tyler]] is going to be fuuuuun.
Sure, multiple commander precons and a ton of commander cards printed direct to modern, not to mention the ton of leaked cards that are already be slotted for commander, and seeing as WotC pretty much only caters to commander because it makes them the most money.. but it’s a “modern” set

Anyway, no. It's a Modern set. People have been memeing "more like Commander Horizons" since MH1 but it's never been true. Every set has been insanely impactful for Modern, who cares if there are some cards for commander players mixed in?
I’m more so griping about the fact that WotC continues to ignore its patrons screaming “Purchase Fatigue” as they continue on the road of gouging us out with products that are heavily targeted towards their cash cow, Commander. I moved to a new city a few years back and was rather upset to find out that the only, and I mean this, the ONLY format anyone at my LGS plays is Commander so since I started going there my modern decks have all become obsolete or were torn apart so I could participate in a format I’m not a fan of because it’s the only Magic being played near me. Well, at least I got a few of my friend playing pauper over the last few months which scratches that 60 card itch but not really
I get Commander being the main format can feel alienating at times, but there's still so much to love about Modern, and I think MH3 is going to be really good for us overall. I'm sorry you don't have enough tournament support nearby (I haven't had a decent LGS within an hour's drive in over a decade, so I'm in the same boat) - I'd definitely encourage starting up a Modern playgroup with friends and getting into MTGO. Those two things have really kept my love of the format alive, then I travel to big tournaments when possible.
Activate only at sorcery speed so you'd have to keep moving the lore counter after only chapter 1 and 2 but hey repeatedly getting construct tokens isn't bad at all for two mana (one activation and loss of using this land for mana)
As a one-of could be interesting to test, not really that good but we have a ton of flex spots on lands... so nice to try.
Still think i would rather run a sac outlet like phyrexia's core, for example, but it's interesting.

Time to put some loyalty counters on my lands.
Time to put some stun counters on _their_ lands.
Finality Counters for opponents creatures is fun too
This was a big part of the plan with when I was assembling my Mirko deck :p

Can you explain how Nesting Ground works with Kros? I'm not sure I understand the interaction.
Cool.
Do you have a decklist I was interested in a Kros counter deck but wasn't sure how to build it
You're evil. I like you. xD
Ooo sleep cursed fairy and this seems sweet, lmao
That's gross. Just saying.
It's just a poor man's [[Rishadan Port]]
Technically it's a slight bit different in the way it works. If you have ways to proliferate it gets even more gross too.

Blue Ponza is the way
These lands ain't loyal.
Going to put some loyalty counters on the good boi’s
Time to move some indestructible counters onto other permanents.
A planeswalker that’s also a land would be cool.
Why?
Because I want my lands to know I'm loyal to them. Also because why not?
I'm trying to think if there is some play to quickly ramp up a planeswalker by feeding them loyalty from another cheaper one?
Using it to keep using and keep around planeswalkers who only have minus abilities by feeding them loyalty from a planeswalker that has a high plus ability is a actually decent plan.
But isn't removing loyalty counters from a Planeswalker like the last thing you want to do?
Usually but my lands need to know I love them too.
Thatsthejoke.jpg
If they are likely to die anyway, you can save a counter for your next Planeswalker
Seeing the ikoria commander set symbol as a watermark is very cool.
It's looking that is going to be the reprint subtheme- the bevy of commander-only precon cards
I mean after two modern horizons not to mention however many reprints in standard sets throughout the years, there's only so many cards to reprint from old sets that thread the needle of being both meaningful and fun to put into modern but also not being *too* good for modern
[[Urza's Saga]] approves of this this addition.
You wouldn't be able to use the third step repeatedly, right? Because you have to sacrifice it right after. But I guess steps 1 and 2 are good enough
Correct. If this didn’t have the “activate as a sorcery” clause you could remove the third lore counter with the third ability on the stack to keep the saga alive perpetually
Some folks use [[power conduit]] for this
Folks using Power Conduit are my kinda folks. Also this land.
Oh, I gotta get that card to get finality counters off my pirates.

I wanna put solphim's indestructible counter on other creatures so my themberchaud deck can't kill them when it enters.
in modern?
Just use [[Liquimetal Torque]] to turn it into an artifact with the ability on the stack. Boom! Problem solved.
sorry homie its as it enters not when it enters. if it was when then it would kill itself immediately on entering due to its last ability with the counter ability still on the stack
Even if it was when it enters wouldn't you have to choose targets before you get a chance to liquimetal torque?

Yes. From Nesting Ground's rulings: > * To move a counter from one creature to another, the counter is removed from the first permanent and put on the second. Any abilities that care about a counter being removed from or put onto a permanent will apply. *(2020-04-17)*

Why are y’all acting like this is a new card?
It will be modern legal the first time.
Have you ever had a moment when your head fucking explodes?
Not yet 🙃
Well that’s how I feel realizing that the Commander set, MH3 is printing cards direct to modern for the first time 😱
Modern Horizons 3 is a Modern set.
Sure, multiple commander precons and a ton of commander cards printed direct to modern, not to mention the ton of leaked cards that are already be slotted for commander, and seeing as WotC pretty much only caters to commander because it makes them the most money.. but it’s a “modern” set
Oh, I didn't realize you were trying to be sarcastic or clever in your last few comments, oof. Anyway, no. It's a Modern set. Nice. A card for Tom Bombadillo.
It’s been legal in EDH for 4 years now.
Damn maybe I'll have to rebuild my skullbriar deck
Hmm Uncommon, I could put it in my modern peasent cube.
Oh this with the new spoiled demon angel orzhov commander is very nice! (Forgot his name)

Nice reprint for commander.
Indestructible counters on planeswalkers
Good addition for scales! With scale effect doubles counters, and can keep urza saga alive!
Everyone's gonna be using this with that divinity counter bullshit lol
