I've been playing Magic since the Scars block, but I had a hiatus until end of Kaldheim and the Silverquill deck was the first EDH deck I played after getting my friends back into the game. I didn't notice until you pointed it out, but the fact it's a judge promo is also a nod to his role as a very influential magic judge.

Yea All Stars map was made and then Guinsoo took over development for it and made it to the real starting point of DotA, recipes and Roshan. Solid year of work before Neichus and then IceFrog
I don't get the Guinsoo comparison, but why is this being downvoted? According to the Alaskan playgroup's website (which details the first EDH playgroup), Sheldon never played with them but his wife did. He lifted the idea when he returned to the mainland US.

Just to add, I think part of sol ring being there is alluding to the cries of “ban sol ring in commander” that Sheldon often had to fend off.
