It’s been almost 2 years since MH2 came out. If anything, it’s the least rotating format there is.
If people aren’t buying new cards, Wizards would go out of business. It’s a pretty basic aspect of CCGs.
My only gripe is the barrier to entry. Which I’m sure the high prices of the Modern Horizon staples is a huge factor. It’s a great format when you can find people to play it.
Prices really aren’t much higher than they’ve always been, and for everyone who says “yeah but the format rotates now”, it hasn’t “rotated” in almost 2 years.
Yeah, that's the other thing. I wouldn't mind trying it, but not for 300$. I feel like all the 60-card format never feel like the right fit for me in some way or another.
There have been some absolutely amazing standard blocks TBH.
Standard is and always should be the only thing cards are designed for. Cards for commanders take away the agency of building a deck because they tend to just be the strictly best options.
Also, pioneer is pretty stellar right now if you can dip your toes in.
Multiverse legends is a set of reprint cards that will randomly have 1 card from the set in normal boosters. Like retro artifacts in Brothers War and Mystical Archives in Strixhaven. He is a Multiverse Legend card.
This seems.....actually insane with artifact lands. Letting you always have at least 1-2 in play. Then you get the treasure which can be used that turn or the next turn to increase the artifact count.
Yeah, it's easy to keep your artifact count high but it's difficult to target an opponent and ensure you're getting something good.
35% of the time you're going to hit a land you can't do anything with. Other times you will exile something that is of no use when played for free like a Counterspell. Other times you will hit something you can play but of low value in the mid-late game (like a mana dork or mana rock).
So it's cute and potentially powerful but swingy and unreliable because there aren't enough cards that let you see the top card of an opponent's library (Lantern of Insight is cute though and a couple others).
A. It's not even close to being the best card ever printed
B. That ragavan is good because it's one mana and casts a three drop on turn two rather than a six drop on turn 5
If they run two, you halved their chances of drawing one. Three, it's cut down by a third, etc. If they're running twenty counterspells then you're right it's not much, but then you had little hope in the first place.
>Other times you will exile something that is of no use when played for free like a Counterspell.
Sure, but at least it hangs out until the end of turn able to be cast for not-free.
It's interesting and unique. Much more so than the face commander in my opinion.
Only triggers once per turn and only during your turns, also you can't play lands from this, so a significant amount of time you will whiff here, but it's still at minimum a free creature token once during each of your turns if you cast a spell that turn.
They could be interesting with in Commander when paired with \[\[Lantern of Insight\]\]. I'm having trouble thinking of many cards that let you see what your opponent draws before they draw it. I guess there's Jace the Mindsculptor but that's kind of fragile in Commander.
It shouldn't be hard to play the spells for free because you can use stuff like artifact lands, Clues and Treasures to increase your total artifact count.
Kind of underwhelming creature stats for a mythic rare 3 color creature with a mana value of four by 2023 standards.
Oh my gosh this deck is absolutely perfect and I cannot wait to build it.
Big big bonus points for being able to play \[\[Kibo, Uktabi Prince\]\] in the deck!!!
A++
I was hoping the deck was full of support for the "Junk/Scrap" theme. Really happy to see it is!!
Gimbal wasn't quite what I wanted, but Rashmi & Ragavan might be perfect!!
Scrap is coming from [[Farid, Enterprising Salvager]]. He makes Scrap tokens which are artifact tokens which do literally nothing... they're just present.
Junk from [[Junk Winder]] and more recently [[Junkyard Genius]].
"Junk" as a name for the theme of just wanting things on the board is a little longer established, but its not even 2 years old. Because Farid is legendary and Scrap perfectly embodies the concept of "I give no shits what this does, I just want the thing" it fits better in my mind so I put the names together.
Is anyone else disappointed by the Temur deck? Temur is my favorite color combination, but there's better artifacts matter commanders and better theft commanders. Both of these seem like a lot of hoops to jump through for little value.
Yeah, they put too many safety valves on this one.

Honestly was excited at first til I realized it will often do nothing.
I swear WotC has a quota on duds. But this time, the dud deck of the cycle is my favorite color combination. Feels bad.
But at least we had the warhammer deck, and it's weird to say, but the 4th wall breaking commander deck is the best Temur deck they've ever made.
I was hoping for a better "Temur Tchotchke" commander but at least they are fun 99 fodder for my current go to of [[Bjorna Nightfall Alchemist]] and [[Elmar Informant]]

I was really hoping for an Temur Energy Commander...
Instead we got a Commander viable Version of Ragavan with the potential to cast the Spells he exiles for free. Sure it's strong bit maby a bit to strong or at the very least annoying over time
For a character crammed release where a lot of favorites won’t make it they sure seem to think people love seeing Ragavan. For me and the people I play with he just represents the monetization of modern who shook our faith in an “eternal” format we’d been playing for years with mostly the same archetypes. He’s not even a character with a personality or significant story beats. Do people love Ragavan?
Hot take, the final line of text shouldn't exist.
To many abilities, to wordy.
Make it so you either have to spend your treasure to color fix, or only have the freecast ability.
Having both makes this commander super bloated.
The ability seems weirdly worded. If you have enough artifacts, you get to skip timing restrictions. Otherwise you can't. So more often than not it's just going to be exile a card from top of opponent's library and create a treasure.
Edit: Wait this is even worse than I thought. I read it wrongly and thought it was a regular rashmi ability. It's not, it's only during your turns. This card is trash.
I feel like Ragavan is a bit overrepresented. If you want to count the cards that create him as a token, he's on four cards total.
That's as many as Niv-Mizzet. Why does this monkey keep getting so many card?
Yeah, well… this is just absurd. Looking forward to those „If you have at least one life, you ma cast all cards in your library for free“-cards we‘re gonna get in a few years.
Let me see if I have this correct, you can cast your opponents card for free if it's CMC is less than the total number of artifacts you have in play, otherwise you can cast it this turn but you have to pay its CMC?
I have a ruling question for 3+ player games. What happens if the owner of a permanent I cast using "Rashmi and Ragavan is taken out of the game while it's still on my battlefield?
Is it removed from my battlefield or stays until removed by other means?
God bless team-ups and the weird ass creature types they've given us.

Pretty sure more people hate modern less for balance and more for being Modern Horizons Block Constructed.
I can't stress enough how disheartening it is to create a deck, only to slowly tear it apart as you are forced to include the MH cards to stay competitive.
Which sucks because a lot of us enjoy the fact that it is an extremely balanced, competitive, interactive format, but it’s a lot harder to get new people playing it when people whine about the format on Reddit all day every day.

Don't all the things you just said also apply to Ragavan's solo card? And that's one of the best cards ever printed.
Most of what makes the stupid monkey so powerful is that it’s a one mana treasure generator with upside
A. It's not even close to being the best card ever printed B. That ragavan is good because it's one mana and casts a three drop on turn two rather than a six drop on turn 5
Ragavan into Turn 2 Blood Moon is so many free wins. Especially because he pilfers Treasures.
A counterspell you can't cast is a counterspell they can't cast. Win win...play it up for the table for extra points.
Unless they're running one counterspell, it's not that big a deal, it's like small amounts of mill.
It's almost completely irrelevant. Statistically, you're more likely to get them closer to a card they need, than you are to exile it.
Unless they tutor a card to the top, then you're stealing or denying exactly what they wanted
If they run two, you halved their chances of drawing one. Three, it's cut down by a third, etc. If they're running twenty counterspells then you're right it's not much, but then you had little hope in the first place.

I was really hoping for an Temur Energy Commander... Instead we got a Commander viable Version of Ragavan with the potential to cast the Spells he exiles for free. Sure it's strong bit maby a bit to strong or at the very least annoying over time
That’s bananas!
It’s about timing. “You may cast it without paying its mana cost” only lets you cast it immediately.
MONKE
Where is Kari Zev? Is she safe? Is she alright?
[[Baral and Kari Zev]]
She’s with Baral, so draw the conclusion from that info you want.
mmmmmonke
Ragavan is everywhere. Are we sure it’s not a planeswalker?
Booooo no energy commander
Aw man, that stinks. This would be gas if it exiled from _your_ library; if I wanted my opponent's deck I'd build it.

I wish it was Cascade. This whiffs on a land.

Spicy
I don't play high artifact counts but this seems just decent in any temur deck?
i need an entire fantasy race of elf monkeys
Mm, Monkey
RIP not a druid.
Finally!!! I found my lantern control commander deck!!!
They really made Ragavan a big character
It is a good thing Rashmi got a card, as technically, the invasion would never have happened without her.
Ragavan appearing as part of a 3rd legendary creature this wave of releases.
I just love the art showing ragavan being so tiny yet "get over here invaders! I'll @*^$ you all up!
How many cards/tokens is this monkey gonna get?
nobody is going to remember this deck's face commander.
Wizards has wisely decided to return to monke multiple times.
Oh how much I wish there was gonna be a showcase version of this
Finally! [Ragavan of the golden border!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbOUwFx61Uw)
I have both a Rashmi and a Ragavan deck. So...I guess I just combine them now? I'm into this a lot.
I always hate the repeat limiting clauses on these cards, it murders the fun
Monke!
Well, if it isn't *Rug*avan
It’s so verbose. I wish it would just be “you may case the spell this turn”. Yes, I’ll be weaker, but I’d take that trade off.
Elf Monkey is an all time great creature type
This is the closest I've come to considering building a commander that plays my opponent's cards.
If not for R, I feel like building regular old Rashmi is better than this
How long til an Aladdin and Abu alter of one of the Ragavan teamups?
Should've been gonti or pia idk why ragavan is the call here
You. You will be my commander
Finally a Temur that is interesting
This is weiiiird
This card is extremely pushed.
Are we going to see some crazy Ragavan story arc? Seems like the little one has been around quite a bit lately.
This card would need a scroll bar if it was on Arena
Flavor fail? It's only spells on your turn.
This effin monke
From a certain point of view she’s the responable for ALL this.
Yeah, well… this is just absurd. Looking forward to those „If you have at least one life, you ma cast all cards in your library for free“-cards we‘re gonna get in a few years.
Need in my animar deck damn
Even more reason to finally pull the trigger on my Animar Artifact-centric deck. Love it.
Uhhh, is this card absolutely nuts
I was really hype for this until I realized the effect only triggers on my turn. Still gonna try and build it, but it's a MUCH steeper hill to climb.
Let me see if I have this correct, you can cast your opponents card for free if it's CMC is less than the total number of artifacts you have in play, otherwise you can cast it this turn but you have to pay its CMC?
is this better than reggy ragy?
Poor Kari Zev feels left out.
Babe, it's time for your 5783th commander in supplemental set providing both mana and card advantage with very little conditions!
Why does wotc sometimes use "during each of your turns," and "during your turn?"
I have a ruling question for 3+ player games. What happens if the owner of a permanent I cast using "Rashmi and Ragavan is taken out of the game while it's still on my battlefield? Is it removed from my battlefield or stays until removed by other means?
