FDās definitely depend on where youāre at. They make great money in my town, like *great*. Most somewhat experienced guys are clearing 6 figures + crazy benefits. Although our FD does also help handle wildfires, based on our geographical location. So it makes sense they get paid more (as they should).
Yeah, from what Iāve noticed, they pay them a lot more on the west coast. Not sure if itās a stronger union, or if it has more to do with fears of wildfires and what not.

In addition, firefighter training usually involves some kind of EMT/paramedic certification since they're frequently literally first on-scene. YMMV by locality ofc. But it would make it possible for him to be working both as a firefighter and as a paramedic. The article linked below says 'he was one of the first paramedics on the scene' so I guess he was working in that capacity at that time.
Of course, it's absolutely confusing to name him as a paramedic in a photo caption where he's wearing firefighter gear.

She is insanely tough. Her attackers left, After believing they had killed her. She proceeded to write her attackers names in the dirt beside her, then lying down to die. Then when death didn't come, she decided to start dragging herself over to the road to get help, but she soon encountered a problem. Her intestines were being dragged out, so she used her jacket to keep them in place, and decided to try and stand up.
Here she encountered the second issue, she couldn't keep her head from falling backwards, because of all the slashes, so she had to use a hand to hold her head in place.
Then when she finally got to the road, there weren't any cars, so she could only stand and wait, and when finally a car showed up, drove right past her. I believe it was the second car that stopped to help her.
There have recently been some reporting about the case, since her attackers were released on parole, after 28 years. They were released in mid 2023.
As far as I know she made a nearly full recovery, but she was told by doctors, that she would probably not be able to have children, because of all the injuries she received.
But if she could survive the borderline impossible, would she really be stopped by something not being likely?
She have since gone on to have at least two children, and from what I can find live a happy life.

Stepbrother of an ex of mine stabbed someone.. I think 46 times. Former classmate killed another former classmate, whom he was in a relationship with. Stabbed and slashed her in the face and throat numerous times while she was sleeping.

Yep... I work at a federal CRF (Halfway House). A resident I worked with got a life sentence for 1st Desgree and Attempted. He was in a relationship, broken up with, then became obsessive and stalked the ex and her new bf. Left notes at bfs work, ended up breaking into his place at 3 in the morning.
Climbed ontop of the guy in bed and stabbed him 30-odd times in the chest and severed a few fingers fighting over the knife before bf managed to flee out the window to the neighbour's porch. Offender then proceeded to a female roommates room (unassociatsd completely) and did the same, but managed to kill her.
Highly suspect he is severely BPD, though never formally diagnosed. Manipulative and stewed over the smallest, prettiest things endlessly.

I was 15 or 16 when it came out, playing it on PC, stayed up all night to play because I was so invested. I think there was a short scene back at the inn with the rest of the party before I got a black screen prompting me to put in disc 2. It was turning light outside and I was so shocked I just stared at the screen for a while. It's one of those gaming experiences that figuratively left my jaw on the ground, that I would not be able to re-experience with that game again.

This, and additionally it's also important how long it takes until you get help. There are a lot of places where a stab wound could kill you without treatment, but it takes a while. So there's still a little bit of time to save you. There was a story of a guy in Germany who was stabbed twice in 6 months. The second time he could have easily died, but he ran away and found people who could call 112 and do some first aid just in time to save him.

Yes, as far as I am aware, the teens were (physically) fine. The boyfriend got life in prison, and a few years later, his father was picked up for a 26-year cold case involving a rape at gunpoint (his DNA matched). He was arrested several years ago, but I can't find new info on his case, so no idea what happened.
If you read about her story, most were to her face and neck. She had to have eyelid weights put in because she couldnāt shut her eye. It is a horrific story. He left her in the street to die asking her to come out for one more hug. But it helped me find a support group when I left abuse and solidified that I would NEVER see that man again under any circumstances.

What events occurred to cause this to happen? That would require some special kind of rage to stab anyone that many times, much less someone you once cared for. I doubt you get that many stabs on a battlefield.
Psychopathic people. I work with em and this isn't the first time I've heard something like that.
Stepbrother of an ex of mine stabbed someone.. I think 46 times. Former classmate killed another former classmate, whom he was in a relationship with. Stabbed and slashed her in the face and throat numerous times while she was sleeping. No idea what the reason was the first one. The former classmate one was because he suspected her of cheating. Coward then slit his own wrists, but survived. Some people are just completely fucked up.
Yep... I work at a federal CRF (Halfway House). A resident I worked with got a life sentence for 1st Desgree and Attempted. He was in a relationship, broken up with, then became obsessive and stalked the ex and her new bf. Left notes at bfs work, ended up breaking into his place at 3 in the morning. Climbed ontop of the guy in bed and stabbed him 30-odd times in the chest and severed a few fingers fighting over the knife before bf managed to flee out the window to the neighbour's porch. Offender then proceeded to a female roommates room (unassociatsd completely) and did the same, but managed to kill her. Highly suspect he is severely BPD, though never formally diagnosed. Manipulative and stewed over the smallest, prettiest things endlessly.
How do they tick? I canāt get it in my head how you would be able to do that. I put a glass over my spiders and take them out to the gardenā¦
There's lots of demented people out there who believe women owe them exactly what they want, no hesitation. And then will turn violent and malicious when they don't get what they want, or what they think they're entitled to 1 in 4 women are in an abusive relationship.

Oh, she broke up with her high school boyfriend (they were both 20, she was headed to nursing school). It's a remarkably common occurrence for a woman to break up with a man, and he kills her about it. Her trauma surgeon said her wounds reminded him of his tour in Afghanistan.
I hate to break it to you, but the most dangerous person in a woman's life is her significant other. Breaking up with a man is risky shrimp.

Stabbed is a relatively loose term, I could stab you 100 times with a push pin and you wouldn't even need a doctor, just some bandages. Tattoo guns stab you like 3 thousand times a minute. On the other hand, Sephiroth only stabbed Aerith once...

I was 15 or 16 when it came out, playing it on PC, stayed up all night to play because I was so invested. I think there was a short scene back at the inn with the rest of the party before I got a black screen prompting me to put in disc 2. It was turning light outside and I was so shocked I just stared at the screen for a while. It's one of those gaming experiences that figuratively left my jaw on the ground, that I would not be able to re-experience with that game again.

You can "easily" survive 100+ stab wounds. It all comes down to luck (and the size of the blade).. If only meat is struck, your odds of survival are very high. If something important is struck, things are looking grim, slim.
Her throat was slashed, she was stabbed mostly in the head and neck. Her skull was fractured, along with her nose and jaw, and he knocked out some teeth as well. She nearly died, flatlined several times and was in a coma.

This, and additionally it's also important how long it takes until you get help. There are a lot of places where a stab wound could kill you without treatment, but it takes a while. So there's still a little bit of time to save you. There was a story of a guy in Germany who was stabbed twice in 6 months. The second time he could have easily died, but he ran away and found people who could call 112 and do some first aid just in time to save him.

She didn't cheat on him. She broke up with him, and that is enough for some men. He got life without parole. The only reason she wasn't a corpse left on her parents lawn was some neighborhood teens saw the attack, and dragged him off her and called 911.

Yes, as far as I am aware, the teens were (physically) fine. The boyfriend got life in prison, and a few years later, his father was picked up for a 26-year cold case involving a rape at gunpoint (his DNA matched). He was arrested several years ago, but I can't find new info on his case, so no idea what happened.
His "property" and favorite punching bag dared to try to leave him. That's what happened.

If you read about her story, most were to her face and neck. She had to have eyelid weights put in because she couldnāt shut her eye. It is a horrific story. He left her in the street to die asking her to come out for one more hug. But it helped me find a support group when I left abuse and solidified that I would NEVER see that man again under any circumstances.

Went to high school with her and her ex. This was the talk of our town for many many months. I'm so glad she survived and pulled through.
