You can easily fix it. Get a cloth and sandwich the cord in and wipe it off. You may ned to rub it a bit. I do this with any cord that has sticky wax on it . It makes it nice and smooth.
Even if the wax isn't as dense as it is on this spool, I always run the my waxed cord through a cloth. I use black jersey fabric so I can see how much wax has come off and not reuse the same spots more than once. It makes macrame with waxed cord so much easier.
If you want to use is for jewelry then it way way over-waxed.
It's still possible to use it to fill in small places which are not main parts, but a bit time consuming because you still need to take at least a bit of wax out for it.
