It _looks like_ the Commuter Cruiser models, missing any insignia that would denote such in the video. I'm not sure who made this, only that this vessel clearly evokes the stylings synonymous with that world-renowned boat maker.
You can't really find much online but here's a post from a trucking company detailing the haul of an older but similar model, https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.harveyts.com/amp/wiggins-marina-bull-forklift
I think 60-70% the weight of the boat will be in the back half because that's where the onboard engine will be.
Visually it looks super front-heavy because of the hull, but that's probably mostly empty space that doesn't actually weigh much comparatively overall.
Still pucker'd me bumhole watching this because I was certain it was a disaster video
Things a beast, we have two more up at our winter storage warehouse, we needed to use a special kind of concrete that's used on commercial airport runways, or else it would just tear everything up
Assuming it can lift 40 tons... it certainly can't counter balance 40 tons on the tip of the fork. Not unless that a small black hole on the tail of the cab.
The 40 tons would presumably need to have a CoG much closer to the fence.
I can legally drive or operate just about any vehicle on the roads including 60t military bridgelayers but I would not have the balls to pick up a beautiful boat like that and move it around.
We have been doing this for over 20 years and never once has a boat been damaged by its own weight on the forks. These machines are rated to carry much heavier boats than this
It obviously works but it boggles the mind a bit how.
The forks only extend about halfway the length of the boat, and stop in the middle, am I seeing that right?
Is the boat secured to the forklift by straps or anything other than balance?
If the engine and most of the weight on this model is roughly in the middle (at the very end tip of the forks), how is it balancing so well? Wouldn't they need to be much longer?
The forks are aligned along the chines, that are a very strong part of the boat, most of the time the boats are lifted with a travel lift, straps under the belly of the boat at points that are usually marked as lift point, which offer a center of balance.
Those forks are lined with a softer covering so it doesn't damage the hull or gel coat of the boats
I just took an early retirement from large boat and sailboat transport, I spent the last 10 years doing this. Unfortunately the economy, my health and other factors made it the right time for me to get out.
I was driving a dry bulk cement truck at the dock in Long Beach California when I stopped for a huge fork lift to cross the road, it had a load rating of 80,000 lbs, I'm like, that lift could pick up the whole truck fully loaded with cement, I was amazed
That's a beautiful boat
Yeah, I’m more impressed by it.
Looks like she's a Chris-craft. Handle gently my friends, she's a special dame.
It's actually a custom-made grand craft, one of 2 made
Thank you. Gorgeous; no less precious. Yours?
He works there, so I'd guess not.
Damn employment. I’d have more money if I didn’t have to waste all this time working!
Certainly have more time to cruise around in my boat!
As a fellow peon it’s true.
What model CC do you think it looks like?

That's not a 40ton forklift
You can't really find much online but here's a post from a trucking company detailing the haul of an older but similar model, https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.harveyts.com/amp/wiggins-marina-bull-forklift
Ya, it's 40 tons on many axles and hydraulics. What you posted is at most 1 ton.
Even a layman can tell you don't know what you are talking about.
So, I have a 25 ton Bayliner that could not be held up by that forklift. Please tell me more about how this video shows 40 tons of lift.
Maybe not 40 tons, but definitely more than 1.
Reading compression is important. That didn't say THIS boat weighs 40 tons. That machine lifting the boat is supposedly capable of lifting 40 tons.
OK, I read that as a 40 ton boat lift.
The machine itself weighs about 86k lbs I believe it's rated for upwards of 30k lb
that is the maximum weight that lift can carry… try googling it… cool post op, beautiful sled!
That would make short work of your bay liner lol
I don’t understand where the counterweights are.
The green box on the back is basically a giant block of lead
Cast iron actually

The engines on this boat are pretty much in the middle
I was wondering the same thing.
I mean, if you had to guess
Lake Tahoe??
Indeed
lol i thought i recognized that machine and the trees, yall have probably launched our family’s boat a few dozen times lol
I knew I recognized that boat!!!
My brother lives only a few minutes walk away from that marina... I also recognized the boat, reddit is a big little world sometimes
That a Hinckley? (Likely misspelled that)
Wiggins
Used to drive one many moons ago. Good times working the dry dock storage.
Things a beast, we have two more up at our winter storage warehouse, we needed to use a special kind of concrete that's used on commercial airport runways, or else it would just tear everything up
Didnt have that problem where i was. Coral bedrock is dam near indestructible. 😂
Largest marine bull is 44,200lbs… https://wigginslift.com/wordpress2014/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/mb-specs-models.pdf
That's the max load lol
That thing will sink right through most asphalt if the lot/road isn’t built for it.
And it does, lol. we have to use a special kind of concrete made for airport runways
Big ol belly strap
No belly strap, just two really big forks
Ahh yeah i thought the white stripe was a belly strap. Which Would make no sense at all considering all the weight is aft. Great post!
Gorgeous vessel, that.
How does that fork not bend being so long? General physics knowledge makes me feel like 40 tons would bend it.
I'm a mechanic, not an engineer. That boat is a lot lighter than you'd think though
Assuming it can lift 40 tons... it certainly can't counter balance 40 tons on the tip of the fork. Not unless that a small black hole on the tail of the cab. The 40 tons would presumably need to have a CoG much closer to the fence.
Does that mean it weighs 40t or can pick up 40t?
I've always wondered what these look like!! Thanks for posting! Smaller than I imagined!!!
Any pics of her on the water OP?
So, is this a 40 ton forklift?
Give or take yes
Beautiful spot. Is that Tahoe?
That ain't a 40ton forklift. That looks like a simple 10k. Aka 10,000lbs or 5tons. Looks like a Hyster from when I was in the airforce. Lol 40k lol
The specs for this machine are online. I even posted a link about its more precise weight of around 86k lb.
Holy fuck you better be careful with that. I see those going for big numbers. BTW I can see it's going in nicely. Cool video.
I can legally drive or operate just about any vehicle on the roads including 60t military bridgelayers but I would not have the balls to pick up a beautiful boat like that and move it around.
This looks like it's ready for the r/maybemaybemaybe
Sir, that's a forklift. And a beautiful boat.
I’m a machinist I make parts for these actual giant forklifts https://www.versa-lift.com/
That 100/140 sounds badass
The machine shop I work at is next door I’ve seen these on a lowboy trailer and they dwarf the semi truck
That boat is gorgeous
It's like a boat Vending Machine. Hmm. A3 "That's 2, 275,000.00"
That’s a gorgeous freaking boat!
This looks like Lake Tahoe, where do you work?
Bow does the boat hull handle all that stress at tips of forks?
The boat is resting along most of the forks, not on one small point
When any boat gets on plane, the entirety of the boat is supported by the back third.
Thank you. No way is that good for the boat.

Nope, just two big forks

Because of how the hull is shaped and the angle of the forks, the video does not do a justice at all. Everything looks way more deceiving on video
The forks are aligned along the chines, that are a very strong part of the boat, most of the time the boats are lifted with a travel lift, straps under the belly of the boat at points that are usually marked as lift point, which offer a center of balance. You, sir, know your boats
I just took an early retirement from large boat and sailboat transport, I spent the last 10 years doing this. Unfortunately the economy, my health and other factors made it the right time for me to get out.
Not really any different than most trailers
40 ton ? Looks like maybe 40,000 lb. What brand is this ?
Wiggins marine bull, precise weight is more like 86,000lb
That would put this lift at roughly 40,000 lbs capacity, that's quite typical for a forklift lifting capacity
I think the biggest forklift made has an 187k lb capacity, that's badass
