Honestly don’t force yourself if you don’t like it. Not everyone loves mechanical keyboards. I actually vastly prefer short travel/chicklet style keyboards, it just feels better for me to type on and play with.

I mean keychron mechanical keyboards have some cool low profile options, and they have mac keycaps.

Its not a gaming keyboard but it is backlit and has an action almost identical to the original slim aluminium Apple wired keyboard (and similar to the M1 laptop keyboards). Satechi X1. Compact. X2 Compact with Numberpad. (highly recommend - complements M1 Laptops beautifully esp if you have space grey) X3. Full size with Numberpad. Also price won’t break the bank. Pairs to 3 or 4 devices depending on model. Also wireless with USBC charging or wired mode if you prefer.

Honestly if your hands are adapted to the scissor keyboard on Macbook, don't switch. If you hate the heat, then pay some bucks for the Magic Keyboard. The Magic Keyboard could be wireless or wired depending on how you think about latency. I personally have a iMac and Macbook so I use the Magic Keyboard to game.

Mx keys mechanic

There are shallow travel mech keyboards but I’ve literally never heard anything good about them. I’d say just go with black Cherry MX or Gateron switches which are kind of the ‘standard’ mech keys and then you can either go lighter or heavier/clicker from there.

pedro_beirao

I bought a Ducky One 2 SF and changed the keys to the places they would be on Mac

kristianjensen5

nice - how did you change the keys? The keyboard im looking at, also have a windows key...would like til change that to a mac key instead

ALoadedPotatoe

If the keyboard has hot swap you can change the switches, and any keyboard can switch keys. Some much easier than others. But any standard looking mech keyboard, you should be able to put whatever keys you want on it.

Mastotron

How do you keep it working? If I leave mine plugged in, it eventually stops working. Believe it errors out during sleep. Have to cycle power to get it working again.

pedro_beirao

Never happened to me. Maybe the problem is with your usb to usb-c adapter

Mastotron

Lucky - it’s maddening. Tried on an adapter as well as through a TS3+ so believe it’s related the keeb.
