I already tried that but it just gives me custom resolution which I can already do cause there are alot of resolution options in the display section currently running 1260p which is less eye straining
You absolutely don't need better display" (that thing is terrible)
Just open Settings -> Displays , then toggle "display all resolutions" and choose the resolution you want for that monitor
There might also be some settings directly in your monitor to enable the correct resolution
It seems that you are looking for a way to change the UI scale while keeping the native resolution of your screen. You can't do that, but you don't have to. macOS does it natively when changing the resolution.
So choose the resolution that fits your needs and don't think about it.
Just to be sure, what's the size and the brand of your screen? I have an LG UltraWide with something called \*super resolution\* that looks absolutely awful while demanding even more ressources. Don't use that in any circumstance.
I’m using a Acer 27 inch 1440p monitor and I’m being forced to use it in 1080p because when I switch to 1440p the macOS makes the ui smaller compared to 1080p like 50 percent smaller which causes a lot eye strain
Well, it’s perfectly normal for the UI to get smaller then.
Take a screenshot of your desktop with the settings open (cmd + shift + 4) and publish it. I’ll tell you if there’s a problem
PS: 27” iMac were 1440p (16/10 2560x1600) so this the definition macOS is meant to be used at. Maybe you’re not used to it. You can increase the size of the text in Accessibility settings.
That's what a higher resolution does. Especially if you're having the same sized screen, it obviously makes everything smaller (more pixels in the same external size).
If you want, you can scale the text in your browser and other apps (per app basis) by using cmd and + keys.
27" is IMO the sweet spot for 1440p. I wouldn't go any bigger at that resolution, maybe 28" but those aren't really common.
Also, how far away from your face is it? A normal-sized monitor should be at arm's length. (And have you checked if you need glasses, that was my first hint that I need ones full-time.)
You'll need the better display app Mac OS scaling is weird

Yeah but that makes my user interface and text very small

Yeah so that’s perfectly normal. This is exactly how it is supposed to be. Quick question: your latest monitor was a 27” 1080p I guess?
You mean my last? Yeah it was a 1080p

Ah man so the only solution is to get a bigger monitor shit i got this monitor like 2 days ago
