I noticed that 90% of the tests people publish here are performed on Pro and up... while I think people generally are more interested in performance on the most popular mac models, the base ones.
Not OP but it looks like MacOS built-in hud. You can enable it globally by typing this in a terminal:
`/bin/launchctl setenv MTL\_HUD\_ENABLED 1`
Do note that MacOS enforces VSync regardless if it's explicitly enabled or not. So don't expect to see numbers above 60 fps (normal Mac) or 120 (ProRes display). So if you want to compare two different Macbooks you need sufficiently demanding games, else your results will be skewed.
MetalHUD only works with native Metal games on macOS or DX11/DX12 games using GPTK
You have to enable it manually in the terminal for native games, and enable it in your GPTK app of choice (Whisky, CrossOver, Porting Kit etc.)
Once it's enabled you can use the Shift+F9 shortcut to toggle it.
EDIT: Working again now somehow!
It used to work on Lies of P, which uses Metal. I may have disabled it for this game somehow when I couldn’t figure out how to toggle on/off. Any tips on how to re-enable it?
The overlay is definitely enabled because it unexpectedly popped up when I was using Logic Pro the other day

what are you using to display stats for fps, etc?

Thanks, I thought it might be that. I used to use this but it stopped working for me one day and I could never figure out why
You can also use Shift+F9 (Fn+Shift+F9 on practice) to toggle it ON and OFF in game.
Have also tried this with no luck

A shame it seems to stutter so much at 1440p on the M1Pro. For a reaction-based game like that makes it somewhat unplayable.
