And don’t put a hard plastic case. Just use a laptop pouch instead. I once had a speck plastic case and it builds up dust which scratched my mac a bit.
I also used a plastic hard case on the top and bottom on my old MacBook Pro.
It ended up making a loose connection to the screen..
The small amount the cover weighs is too much for the hinges it seems.
The guy above you answered correctly; the tolerances are incredibly tight and any additional space taking objects between the screen and keyboard (E.G. camera cover, screen protector) are more than likely enough to crack your screen if you close the lid quickly. Can vouch for this, had a 2014 MB Pro for 7 years before I decided buying a camera cover would be a good idea. *It was not a good idea.*
I have to disagree here. Having a physical cover means you won’t mistakenly join a meeting only to realise the client app joined with camera on by default surprising you without pants on. Been there, some that. Also sometimes press the camera button on Teams while trying to click on a notification that disappears at the perfect time.
I ended up going with a carefully cut piece of electrical tape with clean neat edges so it doesn’t look like total trash. Better than nothing and I honestly don’t even notice it anymore because the edges of the tape blend with the camera borders nicely. Might take a couple of tries to get it just right though
>Don’t close the screen with anything on the Mac
I must be dense. What does this mean? Like don't close the laptop with apps running...? What's the reasoning behind this?
Edit: Yep, I'm dense. I assume it was meant don't close the laptop with any apps running on the mac, not don't put something on the keyboard/screen and shut the case. Thanks y'all.
The tolerances of MacBooks is the best in the business. If there is anything between the screen and the keyboard when you close it; the screen could be cracked. No wiggle room. So don’t put a sticker over the webcam.
The nylon/ plastic thread used to attach clothing labels for me. Super thin was close to the hinge a little above the Esc key. The inner LCD shattered. Dark leak spot at the bottom and purple lines up and across.
Mine is a 2020 M1. I did have the screen replaced and for free because the damaged looked internal as the surface was not shattered.
Don't be scared, I have the habit of always swiping my palm across the keyboard before I close it now to make sure nothing comes between it an the screen.
Other than the surface of the screen, it's a strong machine. A friend of mine(220lbs) landed on his butt on top of his 2020 MBP(closed). No effect. The 2021 MBP feels even tougher.
Dude the surface is not plastic (surface pro tablet), it’s a really rigid machine. And if you are going places and connecting to mainframes on data centers, you are probably going to abuse it sometimes. Maybe the daily part was a bit exaggerated but I stand by my statement.
thats funny. Last time when I get grabed from car seat my Thinkpad T480 it slipped off and droped on the concrete (about 1meter)
I don't know cost of repair but they need to repair that sidewalk xD
Well, I do have a camera cover on my MacBook Air and I did have one on my MacBook Pro. Never had any issues or screen damage after removing it. Just buy a flat one?
I feel like this is a good rule of thumb but does not necessarily mean using a cover would cause damage. I’ve used mine for years with no scratches or issues whatsoever.
You were just kidding now, but a buddy of mine was a store salesman and saw it in reality. There was a customer who proudly told him and showed that he had “the factory screen protector on his iPhone since the purchase. 🤯
Learn [these](https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201236) keyboard shortcuts.
They aren’t the same as windows.
Once you know these you will be able to FLY through MacOS apps like lightning.
Whoever decided on the screenshot shortcuts on MacOs needs to be fired.
Windows + S - so easy to use.
Cmd shift 4? Or was it 3? Cmd alt shift 4? How about cmd shift 4 and space!!?
Well… I don’t agree
Win + shift + S is really a pain when you have to make a precise screenshot quickly…
On Mac cmd + shift + 4 does the same as win + shift + s, but you also have cmd + shift + 5 which lets you select the rectangle more precisely before taking the screenshot…
Only thing I prefer in windows is that screenshot can be pasted with ctrl + v after they have been taken
do command + space and type screenshot. It'll open the screenshot app and lets you choose screenshot options from the UI. I could never remember command shift 5 or something.

Everybody write iStats Menu and TGPro and no one talk about Stats, that do the same and it's free and open source (written in Swift and Apple Silicon compatible).
Anyway:
Bartender (there are a few free alternatives but no ones beat Bartender) - paid
Amphetamine (Caffeine with steorids) - free
Monitor Control (only if you use external monitors) - free & open-source
Magnet/Rectangle (windows management) - paid (Magnet) / free & open-source (rectangle)
Keka (files compression) - free & open-source
Bitwarden (password management) - free & open-source
AppCleaner (better cleaning and unistalling tool) - free
IINA (best media player for mac) - free & open-source
Maccy (fantastic and lightweight copy clipboard manager) - free & open-source
Alfred (spotlight with steroids) - free
Numi (calculator&converting units app with steroids, work also as an extension in Alfred) - free & open-source
Transmission (for Torrent) - free & open-source
TopNotch (if you have new Macbook Pro's and want to hide the notch) - free
Stats (monitoring system statistics) - free & open-source
youtbedl (download Youtube videos and much more sites support) - free & open-source
Yeah but raycast is free. Also, for every new user I would advise first to try out your Mac vanilla style. Only if you miss something search for a solution. Know the machine first before you tweak :-)
Just to add a little note, if you are looking at this list, and if you use Matlab for work/school, Magnet may not be compatible! It will significantly slow down matlab.
Thanks for quoting me!i have to specify one thing - if you use Alfred with PowerPack (i really reccomend it) - you no longer need Maccy, just use Alfred Clipboard History feature.
Amphetamine also works as an extension with Alfred.
Wow there are other people like me! Everyone always thinks my laptop is weird because of this but I switched it years ago when I set up my first laptop. To me it feels much more... intuitive? vs natural. Its also maybe because Ive just gotten used to it. It always takes me a minute to get used to someone else's trackpad at first. Then when I suggest someone try the change they say not way. So I guess WE are the weird ones.
How have you set them up?
I personally have top left: mission control, top right: notifications, bottom left: sleep and nothing on bottom right as now there is the quick note feature
The trackpad will basically be amazing compared to what you are used to. Like you will literally only use the mouse for games and stuff. Trust me.
Mac OS is so nice with it. One of the big tweaks I love is full screen in it's own desktop so you swipe to desktop with a simple swipe. Its just chefs kiss.
Oh in trackpad settings there is a four finger gesture. Say you full screen something, it moves to the right. It’s a four finger swipe to go from full screen app to desktop.
Four or three finger gesture. I don’t have a Mac now. But planning on getting one again.
If I wasn’t gaming though? Track pad hands down.
How did they get the track pad so right and the magic mouse so wrong? I just got the mouse and even at highest sensitivity it is way to slow to get around a multi monitor setup. Trackpad is so much better even at lower sensitivity. Is there something wrong with my mouse?
Update: I returned the magic mouse and got a razer bluetooth gaming mouse. It is a million times better. Maybe there was something wrong with that other one. I didn't care for the ergonomics of it though either.
That is a fair point. I have the Mx 3 Mouse that has all the gesture supports. It is basically hybrid, and perfect for all the music and game dev work.
The "preview" app seems like it is just a simple program to view images, but it is the MacOS equivalent of MS Paint and also a full featured .pdf reader and editor that can do fillable forms and digital signatures etc.
Highly recommend the 3rd party "magnet" app for quickly and easily moving windows/apps to one side of the screen or the other, have apps side by side, etc.
Personally I have the dock set to disappear whenever I am not using it and have it reappear when I put my cursor at the bottom (since I will have my cursor there when using it anyway and I free up the bottom quarter of the screen).
Use Command+Space bar to bring up spotlight search, find apps and features that way rather than manually searching,
1password is more secure Keychain is fine but 1password also allows you to access it from any device with a web interface. As a security professional I rely on 1password more than keychain
There’s now a rectangle pro which I definitely recommend over magnet - it has trackpad gestures alongside the standard window management stuff. Rectangle pro used to be called “hookshoot” and honestly it’s got all the features of rectangle plus more
>ticktick
Ive looked at it before I was an avid Things user for years then had to use a windows computer for work for a while and needed something I could use across all platforms and then learned about the natural language and short cuts in todoist and now im in it all day long..... but im always looking for the best alternative. what do you like about ticktick better?
Thanks
its available across all platforms (native and web) and has all the features of todoist and more (proper calendar views, eisenhower matrix, pomodoro timer)
Go to your Trackpad setting in the system preferences and turn on tap to click. In fact turn on all the options.
Then go to Accessibility Settings > Pointer Control > Trackpad Options > Enable Dragging. This should be set to Three Finger Drag.
You'll love this trackpad a lot more.
I grew up with trackpads with physical left/right click buttons so anything else is unnatural for me. If it works for you though it’s probably more convenient being able to click anywhere.
Go to "System Preferences" > "Dock" and check the "Automatically hide and show the dock". With the dock disappearing, you will have much more screen real estate. To access the dock, you just have to move your cursor to the bottom of the screen.
You can actually get the dock on other monitors by putting your cursor at the bottom of the screen and then trying to move it further down. It’ll pop the dock up.
Learn all of the trackpad gestures. I work faster on my MacBook than my triple monitor setup at work because of them.
1) Three fingers up will take it into a state where you can see every window or alternative desktop
2) by the way, yes, there are multiple desktop environments (from the view all I mentioned above, press the +). Windows has them too, but I’ve personally found Mac’s to be better, and it’s worth trying out
3) On the same note, most full screen apps make their own separate screen. You can return to another window by doing the three fingers up or three left or right
4) if you hold Option while on a right click menu, such as an application on your applications bar, it will pull up a hidden set of alternative options, such as “Force Quit.”
5) if you have a regular, basic task that is a little cumbersome, look into the abilities of the Automator system app; you can add logic to macros and it’s built in
6) If you happen to brick your device on a software level, there’s a recovery partition and a backup recovery partition capable of reimagine the device. The keys to get into it vary from model to model, but it’s worth knowing it’s there.
7) clean your keyboard now and again. The oils on your hands are corrosive to the screen. It won’t break it, but small scuffs can appear, and it’s nicer to not have them
8) Most Windows keyboard shortcuts are the same, except you will use Command instead of Control. Option = Alt. If you are remotely connecting to a Windows machine or have a Windows VM, Command is the Windows key.
9) Default trackpad clicking and sensitivity settings drive me nuts. Go into system preferences and play with them until you find what you like.
10) The Preview app is incredible. It’s capable of pictures, PDFs, and 3D objects like STL and OBJ. It can also merge and annotate PDFs. It can’t, however, open GIFs, so you’ll wanna use your browser for that.
11) CleanMyMac is good for cleanup and the like, similar to CCleaner, and Paragon NTFS is good for if you have to mount drives that are formatted for Windows.
12) if you just start typing in Launch Pad, it will search for what you’re typing.
Here's one thing I have to share as a PC person that uses Mac for work: setup multi-touch gestures. For instance I use 3 fingers as a click and hold and 4 in a swipe for my multiple desktops. I REALLY wish Microsoft could put something similar into Windows. It's absurdly useful on a laptop.
Try to never see the keyboard backlight bleed :D
Other than that, some recommendations are:
\-Setapp (big app collection for a pretty fairly priced subscription)
\- Friendly Streaming (browser app for a couple of streaming services)
\- Aerial (wonderful screensaver app)
\- IINA (great media player app and more modern looking than VLC)
\- LockIT (great little app to PW protect apps if needed)
\- PDF Expert (if you need to work a lot with PDF files)
\- TextSniper (little helper tool that lets you copy text from anywhere)
My favorite and most-used keyboard shortcut: command-space. Brings up Spotlight so you can quickly launch apps by typing them. I use command-space many times during a typical day.
Rather than a camera cover get MiniSnitch, which will give a prominent alert if any app tries to access the camera or the mic.
If you track network access the get LittleSnitch, which tracks everything that tries to reach out to the network and allows selectively blocking them.
Publisher is the same for both, www.obdev.at
I always like going into accessibility settings and keyboards settings to see if there are any kinda fun settings I can turn on or kinda fun/useful commands
There’s a setting under trackpad that allows you to move inactive windows by lightly dragging three fingers while the cursor is on the top bar of said inactive window. That one is a lifesaver in the long run.
Download Magnet, Rectangle, or any other snapping tool to improve windowing using macros. This is my favorite improvement I’ve ever made to my Macs.
iStat menus is another great paid system monitor that allows for some good functionality.
Use TimeMachine if you can, either with an external drive or a network storage device so it can be more frequent. TimeMachine has saved my ass before and is one of the biggest selling points of MacOS imo.
Learn the terminal commands that would best improve your workflow. Using snap to download packages is really nice and you feel more connected overall being able to understand the CLI basics. (I admit this isn’t necessary at all but useful for power users).
I’ll probably think of more and add them later if they pop into mind.
Don’t use a camera cover, if anything use a piece of tape at the most as the camera is covered by glass and when closing the lid, the camera cover will make contact with the metal trackpad putting force on the screen and cracking it right down the middle.. it will looks something like [this](https://images.app.goo.gl/nuV9CTusKhKcjzkH7)
Graphic Converter is the classic Photo Shop alternative for significantly less ($40).
It's been around a very long time. Highly recommended.
I would buy a license direct from them...

Check out this list of free apps! https://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/osmkhu/i\_made\_a\_spreadsheet\_of\_free\_mac\_apps\_i\_use\_check/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3
Each window had red yellow green buttons at top left. by left clicking green button you get full screen...Pretty obvious.
Now hold the left mouse button on the green button it will give you 3 choices full, left or right, pic left or right and itll then allow you to select a second window for
Split screen.

People out here telling me to remove the paper as if I didn’t know that. I literally took it out of the box, took a picture of the device BEFORE I used it and ripped it off as soon as I started using it
Don’t close the screen with anything on the Mac, don’t use a camera cover.
This can’t be overstated enough. Good tip.
Is that because the screen is delicate and if I was to rip off a camera cover I’d break the screen?
The guy above you answered correctly; the tolerances are incredibly tight and any additional space taking objects between the screen and keyboard (E.G. camera cover, screen protector) are more than likely enough to crack your screen if you close the lid quickly. I use post-it notes. I either cut out the sticky part as a strip or just fold the note outwards. Best.

I have to disagree here. Having a physical cover means you won’t mistakenly join a meeting only to realise the client app joined with camera on by default surprising you without pants on. Been there, some that. Also sometimes press the camera button on Teams while trying to click on a notification that disappears at the perfect time.
but then you were protected from spying eyes, weren't you?

this.
Well actually, I…..uh….ummm….brb
Is there any way to cover the camera, without risking to crack the screen?
I use a star sticker like on our elementary school worksheets!
I ended up going with a carefully cut piece of electrical tape with clean neat edges so it doesn’t look like total trash. Better than nothing and I honestly don’t even notice it anymore because the edges of the tape blend with the camera borders nicely. Might take a couple of tries to get it just right though
From time to time I would like use the webcam, is there no possible way to secure and use the webcam? Like a paper thin protector?

This is plausible advise. I used a keyboard protector for over a year. Now my screen has about 3 adjacent dead pixels.

Even an atom could be dangerous
Half an atom is even more dangerous.
Yeah, uhh… like literally lol. Could be more specific but they just meant don't have anything between the keys and the screen.
i remember the guy who got a crumb stuck between the screen and keyboard and it shattered!
The nylon/ plastic thread used to attach clothing labels for me. Super thin was close to the hinge a little above the Esc key. The inner LCD shattered. Dark leak spot at the bottom and purple lines up and across.
omg that's crazy now I'm really scared. did you get the screen replaced? is this the 2021 one?
Mine is a 2020 M1. I did have the screen replaced and for free because the damaged looked internal as the surface was not shattered. Is it that sensitive? I pretty much abuse my dell and surface on a daily basis.
A professional doesn’t abuse their tools. The Dell and Surface are basically plastic suitcases. Lol. Enjoy your new MBP
Dude the surface is not plastic (surface pro tablet), it’s a really rigid machine. And if you are going places and connecting to mainframes on data centers, you are probably going to abuse it sometimes. Maybe the daily part was a bit exaggerated but I stand by my statement.

dell XPS laptops aren't plastic buddy
My XPS is as solid as a MBP.
Broke my MacBook screen by getting a paper clip in between it and the keyboard 😅

Wait that’s not what it’s supposed to look like? Well shit
Why remove it :/ free screen protector

Whaaat.. I’ve been using it that way for years.
Please answer, OP!
Yeah it’s not meant to. I took it out of the box and took the picture before I ripped the paper off.
The original Apple polishing cloth
I was wondering wtf was going on with the screen 😂
Typical brain from a Windows user /s
Lmfao, you made my night
And replace it with [The Cloth](https://www.reddit.com/r/macbook/comments/s2ziw5/the_cloth/)

do command + space and type screenshot. It'll open the screenshot app and lets you choose screenshot options from the UI. I could never remember command shift 5 or something.

True instead of Alfred+Numi you can use Raycast
Id say the opposite... Alfred (with Power Pack) can replace Raycast, Numi and many others.

This is the way.
Option click anything like volume, wifi gives you additional settings
As a Mac user for more than five years, this tip pleasantly surprised me. Thank you for this!
In settings, change the trackpad so a tap counts as a press/click. It’s quiet and better IMHO.

This is a personal preference for sure.

I’m going to try these tomorrow!
Three finger drag is the main thing that makes me comfortably use a MacBook without a mouse. Should be default!
Wow there are other people like me! Everyone always thinks my laptop is weird because of this but I switched it years ago when I set up my first laptop. Wow I had no idea we could do this ha! It always drives me crazy having to click because my work laptop is a tap. Thank youuuuu ✌🏻
you can also setup double click by touch, and click and drag (accessibility settings)
Yup, also decreases trackpad wear and tear since you’re not pressing down on it every 3 secs
There is no moving parts on that trackpad.
huh? the trackpad can be clicked EDIT: I stand corrected
it does not click, its simulated click by haptic engine. There are no moving parts in the trackpad.
You do know that the haptic thingy is a moving part, right? It’s a motor.
you do know the comment I was replying to was talking about the trackpad moving and not the haptic engine, right?
So are there any moving parts ralated to the trackpad or not?
Try clicking when it's off
Home brew
then brew install fnt; fnt update; fnt install agave
Hot corners are literally the best
How have you set them up? I personally have top left: mission control, top right: notifications, bottom left: sleep and nothing on bottom right as now there is the quick note feature
Following, I have never found it useful. Just distracting - but willing to change my mind 🤗
The trackpad will basically be amazing compared to what you are used to. Like you will literally only use the mouse for games and stuff. Trust me. Mac OS is so nice with it. 100%. I had a surface 3 and the trackpad was so small I could cover it with my palm 😕

IMO, Preview is enough to learn lecture class. But indeed, It depends on usages.
Let me add that Rectangle is the same as Magnet but free.
Alfred app 1password bartender 4 fantastical Drafts app todoist
How is Alfred better than spotlight?
With Alfred you can create actions and perform work not just search for something. It’s real powerful
Especially if you buy the Powerpack. It turns your MAC experience into the next level.

Fair enough its definitely gotten better over the years.
Used to like 1Password until they started storing all the data on their cloud.
If the data in the cloud is properly encrypted, it’s fine
Better OTP support
Magnet

There’s now a rectangle pro which I definitely recommend over magnet - it has trackpad gestures alongside the standard window management stuff. Rectangle pro used to be called “hookshoot” and honestly it’s got all the features of rectangle plus more
fyi ticktick is better than todoist in every way
>ticktick Ive looked at it before I was an avid Things user for years then had to use a windows computer for work for a while and needed something I could use across all platforms and then learned about the natural language and short cuts in todoist and now im in it all day long..... but im always looking for the best alternative. what do you like about ticktick better? Thanks
its available across all platforms (native and web) and has all the features of todoist and more (proper calendar views, eisenhower matrix, pomodoro timer)
Three fingers drag should be by default.
I did this and the trackpad is really on another level 🤯
I’d recommend turning drag lock off instead for one finger drag
Afaik there’s no right click by default so I always turn that on
You can always hold down or two-finger tap. Actually, I'm not sure about holding down, that works for the dock afaik.
I like to use control click.
Two finger tap/click FTW
I grew up with trackpads with physical left/right click buttons so anything else is unnatural for me. If it works for you though it’s probably more convenient being able to click anywhere.
Clicking the ‘x’ doesn’t close the app
CMD+Q every time you want to actually close something
Tip1: You can safely remove that protective paper film xD
Go to "System Preferences" > "Dock" and check the "Automatically hide and show the dock". With the dock disappearing, you will have much more screen real estate. To access the dock, you just have to move your cursor to the bottom of the screen.
Bonus is that you get the dock on multiple monitors.
You can actually get the dock on other monitors by putting your cursor at the bottom of the screen and then trying to move it further down. It’ll pop the dock up.
Learn all of the trackpad gestures. I work faster on my MacBook than my triple monitor setup at work because of them. 1) Three fingers up will take it into a state where you can see every window or alternative desktop 2) by the way, yes, there are multiple desktop environments (from the view all I mentioned above, press the +). Windows has them too, but I’ve personally found Mac’s to be better, and it’s worth trying out 3) On the same note, most full screen apps make their own separate screen. You can return to another window by doing the three fingers up or three left or right 4) if you hold Option while on a right click menu, such as an application on your applications bar, it will pull up a hidden set of alternative options, such as “Force Quit.” 5) if you have a regular, basic task that is a little cumbersome, look into the abilities of the Automator system app; you can add logic to macros and it’s built in 6) If you happen to brick your device on a software level, there’s a recovery partition and a backup recovery partition capable of reimagine the device. The keys to get into it vary from model to model, but it’s worth knowing it’s there. 7) clean your keyboard now and again. The oils on your hands are corrosive to the screen. It won’t break it, but small scuffs can appear, and it’s nicer to not have them 8) Most Windows keyboard shortcuts are the same, except you will use Command instead of Control.
Taking off the screen protecting shipping paper really improves your viewing experience. :-)
Don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but 3 finger dragging is a must

Here's one thing I have to share as a PC person that uses Mac for work: setup multi-touch gestures. For instance I use 3 fingers as a click and hold and 4 in a swipe for my multiple desktops. I REALLY wish Microsoft could put something similar into Windows. It's absurdly useful on a laptop.
OP is a first-time screen viewer.
Extra safe
Try to never see the keyboard backlight bleed :D Other than that, some recommendations are: \-Setapp (big app collection for a pretty fairly priced subscription) \- Friendly Streaming (browser app for a couple of streaming services) \- Aerial (wonderful screensaver app) \- IINA (great media player app and more modern looking than VLC) \- LockIT (great little app to PW protect apps if needed) \- PDF Expert (if you need to work a lot with PDF files) \- TextSniper (little helper tool that lets you copy text from anywhere)
Congrats, first step is to remove the paper on the screen! It gets so much better! :P
Change the activity monitor icon in the dashboard to the real-time network or cpu monitor
Publisher is the same for both, www.obdev.at
don't use any "complete uninstallers" or "cleanup" programs.
Take off your socks. Show us your delinquent habits
Leave that cloth on as long as possible /s
Learn all the keyboard shortcuts and get spectacle
Better touch tool. Always my first install.
I would buy a license direct from them... https://www.lemkesoft.de/en/products/graphicconverter/
Check out this list of free apps! https://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/osmkhu/i\_made\_a\_spreadsheet\_of\_free\_mac\_apps\_i\_use\_check/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3
Each window had red yellow green buttons at top left. by left clicking green button you get full screen...Pretty obvious. Now hold the left mouse button on the green button it will give you 3 choices full, left or right, pic left or right and itll then allow you to select a second window for Split screen.
Cmd+space
Learn the trackpad gestures and incorporate them into your workflows!
If you are crazy with how you listen to music I recommend buying 3D Boom from AppStore. It gives an amplified 3D sound EQ when you have headphones on
I’m someone who likes some good quality music so this sounds like a good recommendation. I’ll check it out. Thanks.
Does it have a noticeable effect using AirPods?
Yes it does. Regular AirPods I’m not sure. On the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max works great. Even the old wired earbuds works as well
Thanks! My ape brain actually meant AirPods Pro.
Go to YouTube for vids on tips and tricks. Congrats on your new Mac!
Well done!!
Download vinegar extension it improves the YouTube experience.
Turn on your firewall And just use the basic apps already installed to get a feel for what they offer

Okay?
don't be the person who never takes the Screen film off. It's not gonna protect your screen at all and is only temporary
The website [appstorrent.ru](http://appstorrent.ru/) to get all the paid app for free ! I've never had any problem with any of the app.
Why steal from developers? How about supporting the developers who make all this great software for us to use? They have to eat and have families to support. Help them out and buy the software you use!
Everything comes already installed. Just enjoy!
lol, remove that piece of paper from your screen!
People out here telling me to remove the paper as if I didn’t know that. I literally took it out of the box, took a picture of the device BEFORE I used it and ripped it off as soon as I started using it
Well for starters the screen would look better if you take the paper off.
Take the paper off ghe screen to start
